Ka'anapali Beach stretches from the Sheraton Maui Resort all the way down to the Hyatt Regency Maui with a parallel a beach walk. It's a yellow/white sand mix with usually calm waters except for when south swells are present. The beach is eroded in a few spots but is mainly usable throughout with the north end offerings he most real estate. Shade is at a premium so bring an umbrella. Oddly for a beach of this size there is no lifeguard on duty. Sunsets are awesome, with views of Lana'i and Moloka'i as the backdrop.
PARKING: This is the biggest challenge especially if you're not staying at a nearby hotel. Each hotel/business is required by law to provide a certain number of shoreline access stalls but they're always hard to come by. Your only other option is to pay through your nose for parking at a hotel or Whalers Village.
ACTIVITIES: Snorkeling is good near the Hyatt as a shallow reef is prevalent, and off of the Sheraton at Black Rock with its low cliff and reefs abound. Be careful when snorkeling at Black Rock as currents can be strong. I should know as I got caught up in one but luckily found shelter on a nearby rock as I crawled on it like a turtle, LOL. Gear can be rented via numerous stands along the beach walk and resorts.
Snorkel sails and sunset cruises launch from certain points of the beach so be aware when you're in the water.
Jet skiing and parasailing are available six months out of the year (mid-May thru mid-September) when the whales aren't here.
Cabana and chair rentals are usually reserved for hotel guests but some may rent to non-guests.
FOOD & BEVERAGE: While there aren't any vendors doing business directly on the beach as it's illegal, there are several dining options that are beachfront. Most notable are Hula Grill and Leilani's, both inside Whalers Village Shopping Center and are as close to the beach as you can get. Whalers Village also has a small food court with nice options on the lower level. Alcohol is prohibited on all beaches but enforcement is nil. Just be discreet!
FACILITIES: No public restrooms are available but the beach is lined with hotels so you're more than fine. Public showers are located at certain points along the beach walk.
OVERALL: This isn't my favorite beach by far but sometimes it's fun to...

First, unless you staying at one of the ocean front hotels, the parking for everyone else is a nightmare. We went to hotel who referred us to the shopping mall and said that they will validate if you purchase something. We went to the cafe and had to purchase $20 worth of coffee for validation. The hotels are supposed to provide some parking for the public, but are not eager to do so. You are not supposed to park at the mall if you are going to the beach. While beach is long, they are areas where water comes all the way up. Calm waters? No. We encountered 20 foot waves, which was ideal for boards but not swimming. One of the local kids told me that ocean is much calmer in the morning. There is a nice path for walking, (I wouldn’t say a boardwalk)and washing stations. I have to say that overall, I am disappointed at Maui beaches and especially this one, for which I had really high...
