We love Kahana Village The photos on the website are very accurate of the units and the resort itself is calm and restful. We first stayed here in April of 2014 in unit 3 (Ocean front Prime unit). We had an unobstructed view of the ocean and the whales. The suite was very clean and provided all the amenities for home for a family of 4. In this unit the ocean provided all the air conditioning that we needed. Our current visit was in the beginning of October 2016. Again the suit, unit 9 (Ocean front unit) was very clean and had 3 new AC units to cool the suite down. We also made use of Demming's Delivery Service (see the Kahana Village website) for groceries so that we where all stocked up before we arrived (she did a wonderful job). Kahana Village is nicely situated on Maui. The resort itself has free parking, pool, hot tube and a great sandy beach right out front. Mai Tia Wednesday is a great way to meet your neighbours and experience some of the local music It is very easy to tour the rest of the island using the resort as your base point. It is close to Lahaina, which is great for experiencing the tourist type shopping, art work of the area, as well as catching great snorkelling tours through the Pacific Whale Foundation. The village is also close to D.T. Flemming beach which is great for body boarding. Some good day trips are the road to Hannah, the trip up to the top of Haleakala, the Maui Ocean Centre and Makena beach (be sure to take the road to the very end past Makena beach to see the last lava flow on Maui, very striking landscape). For our road trips we used the Gypsy Guide App-Maui Full Island Tour, this helped us navigate the island and gave us some great suggestions of where to stop and experience the island.
All in all it is a great place for a family vacation and we plan on coming back again...
Read moreWe just got back from a week stay at Kahana Village and it was incredible. The grounds are in great shape and the views of the ocean from anywhere on the property were fantastic. We stayed in unit 3 which was beautifully updated and was very comfortable. It had everything you could possibly need from beach gear to cooking needs. The beds are about ready to be replaced, but they were still comfortable.
The unit has AC (some of the units do not so be aware of which unit you are looking at)
Our kids loved being able to go from the pool right to the ocean in 20 steps. The beach itself is really nice compared to some of the other oceanfront properties in the area. There beach itself is really sandy which was nice for the kids to play in. It's a bit more rocky in the water so having water shoes is a good idea but not absolutely necessary. There was decent snorkeling, we saw several turtles at this beach. So if you're looking for a place a little less "resort-like" but still oceanfront this is a great option. And at a fraction of the price!
The management was great. The dryer went out in our unit and they couldn't get anyone in to fix it till the next day so they gave us access to an empty unit so we could get our laundry done. That meant more to us than they probably know!
There is a gas station, general store, coffee shop, mcdonalds, maui brewery, chinese and sushi restaurants all within walking distance. It's away enough from the hustle and bustle of Ka'anapali and Lahaina that it's quiet and relaxing. But close enough that you can be there within 5-10 minutes.
Do not hesitate to book this place, you and your family...
Read moreAloha Gretchen, I just wanted to offer up a review of Unit 41 following our enjoyable stay in this unit! From start to finish of our week-long stay everything was perfect, just right! This is a beautifully decorated unit with very comfortable accommodations. The unit is immaculate with comfortable furnishings, beds, restrooms, and televisions. The kitchen is spotless and has all kitchenware needed. I loved the large black and white wall photo of the early days on the Waikiki surf and Diamond Head. It, along with other unit décor items, surrounded you with the feeling of Aloha! The view from the second floor Unit 41 was refreshing and the outdoor patio allowed us to enjoy the view and outdoor dining options. The location of Unit 41 is, in my mind, ideal at the far end of the complex with easy parking access, direct stairs to the unit, and an element of quiet! Access to the clean and inviting pool and the beach is easy! We even took advantage of the barbecues located adjacent to the pool area in preparing our own meals. In short, we very much enjoyed our stay and would come back without...
