Me and my two girls choose this hotel for a night stay. I first selected it because the location was suppose to have a hot tub and when I got on site there was no hot tub. Just a pool and they keep the room so cold that my girls which came to swim could not enjoy themselves at the pool. I was very upset with the older lady that works the morning shift at the front desk. I went to throw a pizza box away and I threw it in what look to be a trash can and the front desk agent scolded me as if I was a small child. Once I threw it away she came around the corner screaming at me at the top of her lungs to take that out of there because it’s not a trash can. Which look from the eye to be a trash can. Mind you I am staying on the third floor and I walk the whole floor looking for a trash can to throw the trash away before taking it down to the first floor. She also told me it didn’t belong in there as well, she told me most people and keep using the term most people, she also told me that common sense should have told me not to throw my trash in there because it said plastic. Which was very very very rude and disrespectful to say to a customer.I told her I agree it said plastic and I didn’t notice that at all. I was more concerned with picking up after myself and my children. As I couldn’t find a trash can after looking on the third floor and was happy I finally found one that I didn’t notice that it said paper and plastic. As a consumer I felt humiliated and embarrassed as she yelled at me in front of the cleaning staff and others in the hotel lobby. She began to make racial insults as she continued to say what most people would not do. She was very combative and went back and forth with me about trash. As humans we all make mistakes and if she would have conveyed that to me respectfully I would have apologized, when she pointed out that it was designed for plastic and paper and not trash, which I never payed it any attention so I went back to see if what she was saying was correct and she indeed was correct so I apologized to her immediately. She still was very very upset with me. She never tried to hear, understand or even take in to consideration my perspective as a consumer and just did not know. She talked to me and down me as if my intentions was malicious and I was trying to do something wrong. I have never felt so bad as an adult for trying to throw my trash away. She never used self restraint or never thought to not say some of the awful things she said to me. She continued to be aggressive with me as I asked what time was check out and talk to me as if I was ignorant which she insinuated several times throughout the conversation. As well as the cleaning staff also agreed with her and they began to both scold me together. This was a very horrible but most importantly embarrassing experience for me. I will never stay in this hotel again, as I have family up the road from the hotel which is why I choice it to stay in for me and my children because it was near by and we travel here quite often. It was my first time and definitely will be my last time staying here. The young lady that check us into our hotel was awesome and very helpful and polite and that was appreciated. It made me feel so uncomfortable being away from home and having to get into it with a staff member when me and my children was out here to enjoy the New Year with family. I am very disappointed in the service I received from the morning front desk staff member and the cleaning lady which was also a older woman that came and volunteered her opinion and it was not warranted or asked for or needed. She should have honestly stayed out of the conversation. They do not have customer service skills. I should have never been treated this way at all. I do not recommend this hotel due to the staff and how they treat you. Also bathroom was not...

For starters, we arrived early. I called at noon to the nicest young lady to say we were coming at 1 p.m. because I knew check-in was at 3 p.m. I was told - no problem, come on in, we will have a room ready for you!
We arrived and she gave us room 204, which was large and beautiful, with the most comfortable bed! When we looked at the fire exit schematic, my son and I realized we had been upgraded to a larger room - for no charge! I cannot tell you how much we appreciated that, it had been a really hard couple of days for us - no one even mentioned it, which made it even more touching.
The next thing - Drew must have come on duty (if I have the name correct) and we went to move our car closer to our room to get our bags, only to discover that our battery was dead!
I came into the lobby a basket case. Exhausted. Overwhelmed. I asked for the name of a tow truck and instead, he used his own truck to jump-start my car for me, then hunted down the problem - an obscure parking light had somehow been turned on so it drained my battery. He turned it off and had me run my car for a bit and the problem was solved.
His help - as well as guiding us to the counter and having us warm up with complimentary coffee and tea and cocoa while he did this for my car because we had been in the cold for so long by then - it was just SO kind!
We made our way to the pool next and Drew was so gracious and kind AGAIN because he could see my son was keen for the hot tub, so he assured him that although it was broken, the pool was heated (and it was, and it was AMAZING). There was some minor issue with the pool room being very steamed up as the vent or something wasn't working right, and Drew was apologetic, which made us laugh, because we LOVED it. It was like being in a wonderful huge hot tub/sauna combination, which - after the day I was having - was perfect and just what the doctor ordered!
We were too exhausted to go out to eat plus scared the battery would die on our car again so we next bothered poor Drew about food, and he produced menus for us and helped recommend a tasty, convenient, fast pizza delivery place, which we SO appreciated.
The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room temperature and everything, the blackout curtains, etc. were perfect - we slept like rocks...
In the morning, we first met a lovely lady, again, don't know name, but with blond hair as well as a super nice lady with brunette hair, both were so kind! My son devoured the breakfast as did I. The front desk ladies were very helpful about finding some substitute things for us and then my son wanted to swim again but we had noticed the door was propped open to deal with the vent issue, but they were so kind and assured us it was no problem, we could swim away!
He swam so long I had to come out and ask them apologetically if we could check out a little past 11 because he was swimming still and it was quarter to! And they assured me that he could keep swimming, and we were fine to check out a little late, and not to stress out, and they would make sure our key kept working until check out.
I am sorry this is so long, but I am just SO impressed with our experience. I guess we would not find much occasion to be in the Toledo area again! ;-) But if we ever do, or know anyone passing through - we would absolutely recommend this gem of a hotel in a heartbeat.
It could have been a rotten trip under other circumstances with less courteous, friendly, caring, professional staff! Instead, we ended up having a lovely time!!
Thank you all so much, we could NOT have been happier...
Read moreThis was no doubt one of the worst hotel stays for me. My husband and I travel a lot and I typically do a check of the room to ensure cleanliness and no bugs. Well, this time, I was not able to do that because I had a conference to get to and only had time to put our bags down, change and back out the door. We returned to our room around 12am and at that point i was tired and ready for a shower. So I took my shower, and laid on the bed not in the sheets since i was not able to check them. Around 3 am, I started itching like crazy and it felt like something was crawling on me. I told my husband to turn on the light and there was a reddish-brown bug running across the blanket. My husband kills the bug and says, this is a bed bug. In the midst of throwing the blankets back, my face, hands, arms are steadily swelling due to being bitten. Once we pulled the blanket back to expose the sheets, there was a dried blood stain from where someone killed one of the bugs. I moved the pillows and opened one of them and there they were crawling around on and in the pillowcase. We continued to investigate and they were crawling on the headboard. I took video and pictures then we immediately went to the front desk. The staff person did respond and started looking for other rooms (as they were booked up). She initially placed us in one room, but we could not stay as there were no lights. They were able to find us another room and once I was in there, i started looking for another hotel. However, everything was booked solid. Needless to say, we were stuck. We did do a full sweep of the room and there was no evidence of bugs or dirty sheets. However, I could not sleep nor could my husband. Later that morning, we went down for breakfast. You would think that someone would see how I was doing or if we needed anything. Nope! It was as if nothing happened. We had to leave for our conference and was gone for about 12 plus hours. Despite being exhausted, it was still difficult for us to sleep. I was just afraid that the bugs would make their way to that room. Sunday morning, at the time of check out, I was asked about my stay. So I shared my experience with the bugs. The staff person, who I believe was the manager, launches into telling me stories about how that room did not have bugs, the hotel is not aware of bugs until someone tells them or is bitten and then she wanted to tell me about her own experience with bed bugs. When i say, I was frustrated and appalled at that interaction. First, it made me feel like she was blaming my husband and I for the bugs (although she said she was not), then why wouldn't the hotel have preventative measures to ensure bugs don't become a problem rather than fixing it when told by someone. And lastly, I really did not want to hear her personal story. i get she may have been trying to do shared experience but it had nothing to do with my situation. What happened to me could have been prevented. At the end of the conversation, she then proceeds to share that she can offer me 10% off my next stay. I politely shared to her that we would not be coming back to that hotel but I thanked her for the offer.
Lesson learned: Take the time to check those sheets and do a...
