Location is great. The lady in the front office is friendly. Rooms are renovated and appear clean. The rooms are not very quiet, not that any hotel room truly is. However, you can hear every step and water running upstairs and all noises outside the doors. I was there for a work trip over the weekend and unfortunately the guests were extremely loud outside into the early hours of the morning. I left two voicemails to the office with no response. I was told later "a number is taped to the front door for night emergencies", however I never walked down to the office because they are outside rooms and the temps that weekend was in the negative 20s. I did attempt to alert the guests myself of noise to no avail. Because of this I hardly slept three hours before work. I also contracted lice from the room somehow unfortunately. My initial review was shorter, but after persuasive messages from the GM, Chase, to remove my initial review, I am expounding for the reader's. I am a stay-at-home wife with no kids and had had no visitors prior to the trip I took alone. I started having an itchy scalp the first night I stayed at the hotel but attributed it to cold weather and dry skin. However, it progressively got worse during and after my stay. I found out I had lice. I had only been to my office with one other employee, home with my husband, and the hotel. I did not have symptoms prior to arrival. My husband did not contract. My coworker also did not contract. Although Chase would like to dispute me contracting it here, I have done the investigation, and routes of possible exposure, and nobody around me, nor in my home contracted lice. The only common denominator that differed in my life was me staying at this hotel and immediately becoming symptomatic. Normally I would not expose this review publicly. However, I called the hotel and left a voicemail and never got a return phone call. All I wanted was to ensure they took it seriously and at least precautionarily clean the room thoroughly that I had been in. For the sake of anyone else. I did notify Central District Health Department. Chase has already informed me if I do not remove my honest review, he is going to respond to try to discredit me. I am more concerned about the lack of concern to follow up with me via phone call and take seriously ensuring they took measures to at the very least deep clean the room that I had stayed in. I am upset at the persuasive text messages I received the last couple days from the GM to remove my review while telling me my review is false. I assure the readers, and you Chase, that my review is 100% honest from my perspective and experience. I did my due diligence retracing my steps to how and where I could have possibly contracted lice. The common denominator different from everyone else in my life was my hotel stay alone. I tried to inform the hotel quietly out of concern of the business's reputation regarding this issue. However, I decided to edit with full disclosure after receiving no return phone call in the past two weeks, but text messages the past two days from the GM persuading me to remove my honest review instead of taking the matter seriously for public health and safety and focus on quality assurance measures rather than trying to discredit and disprove a...
Read moreWe wanted to get away for our anniversary and decided to go to McCall. We moved to the Greater Boise area about six weeks ago and McCall was recommended. We chose the Nordic Inn based on the two Yelp reviews available. I can't find any evidence of correspondence but I thought I had let them know that it was our anniversary.
When we arrived in McCall, it was about 11 am. We inquired of the woman at the counter about early check-in. She really didn't answer, just smiled and indicated that 3 pm was check-in time. It was an odd exchange. We asked about recommendations for restaurants for lunch. She just said "Everything is good". Not much help.
When we came back, just after 3, the office was locked and another man was waiting. We stood there another five minutes, wondering what was going on, before a woman showed up, explaining that she was in the laundry room, taking care of a problem. She was nice and cheerful, and got us checked in fairly quickly. We were given a first floor room. Our small window was facing the stairwell. For our anniversary.
The room was small but clean. There is a cool glass and metal barn door covering the bathroom entrance. The vanity and bathroom/shower are very small. There was no box of tissues in the room. The shower water pressure is weak. The fan works great. The AC works fine. There is a shortage of electrical outlets, none on my side of the king bed. The bed was reasonably comfortable.
The property is located on the main drag, a medium walk from the lake and main downtown area. Dark wood and rustic looking. The parking lot could stand to be repaved. When we checked out, about 10:45 am, there was no one in the office. We dropped the keys in the box.
We will definitely return to McCall, but I don't think we'll be back to...
Read moreI would like to give them more stars but the whole experience was rather exhausting. It started off with our bed sheets not being clean, while they were nice enough to give us another room, this one didn’t have a key card only a key, which got stuck all the time and with a “trick” would open. The door has no inside lock just a tiny chain. The design was nice and definitely European inspired, it’s 5min walking distance from downtown McCall. The most unpleasant part was that they told us when we checked out that there would be an extra charge since it was Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day weekend! We booked over booking.com and have done so multiple times and have never heard of such thing! The extra charge was horrendous and they said well if you would have booked over us this wouldn’t have happened, which is a lie even checking their rates after we checked out it was still at $115 and not $250!!...
