This was the absolute worst Miami airport hotel I have ever stayed. Our room was even "upgraded" . It's position was overlooking the pool area. Being in close proximity to the airport, you would expect air traffic, but we had no clue that the hotel was situated directly next to railroad tracks. ALL night we were unable to sleep due to frequent railroad traffic including train whistles. The jet noise paled in comparison to the railroad noise. It sounded as if the trains were directly in our room. When there wasn't train traffic, you would here the airplanes flying overhead. No sound insulation whatsoever. No wonder they "upgraded" us to this large double suite - no one would knowingly want to occupy it. Thank goodness that the elevator directly adjacent to our room was out of service!
Also, the fan noise from the air conditioner is very loud in one of the bedrooms. The carpets could use replacement.
It was a pity that we could not enjoy the comfy bed. At least we had somewhere comfortable to lay down, even if we could not sleep.
Breakfast didn't have much in the way of tasty healthy choices. There were peeled eggs, bananas and apples maybe. Mystery yogurt in a large open container. Several sugary cereals, dried fruit and nuts? I didn't see any fresh wholegrain items. Regular coffee. The personnel were very polite and helpful.
You must call for the airport shuttle. The pickup driver seemed annoyed when she pulled up about 25 minutes after I called twice. She drove very quickly around curves, causing the luggage to shift from side-to-side. The driver who took us to the airport in the morning was completely the opposite. Very kind, polite and helpful. Sorry that I did not get his name.
Unfortunately we have another non-refundable reservation for this same property in March. I made that reservation through another site and I asked them to cancel and refund my money. This was several days ago. They keep telling me that the property will not respond to their request. Here's...
Read moreHands down the worst hotel customer service experience I've ever had. We were a party of 3 adults sharing a room with a king bed and sofa bed. Arrived in late afternoon, as scheduled, but was unable to attend to making up the sofa bed until our return from an event around 1:30 AM. No bed linens or pillows for the sofa bed in the room. The front desk informed us that sheets were available for us to fetch from the front desk, but that there were NO pillows or blankets available! The desk clerk dismissed my son (who would be sleeping on the sofa bed and went to retrieve the sheets) with a perfunctory apology flavored with a clear "sucks for you but nothing I can do" attitude. My son barely slept that night. What hotel does not have enough bedding for all of its beds?! We had a reservation, so there was no surprise that our room had to sleep 3. I demanded from the manager at checkout the next morning that the room be comped -- especially when we got down to breakfast in the middle of its operating hours and found much of the food had run out and was not being replenished. No breakfast for us! The manager didn't sound too sympathetic either -- "the hotel was really full" -- and refused to forgive my full reservation cost. She only gave me a small discount stating that "we got to use all of the hotel's amenities" -- except, of course, a fully functional bed and breakfast. Also note: There is a hotel parking lot literally beside the hotel, but you must use their valet service for which you pay $20 (for which the manager did comp me). On a positive note, the room was clean, and if you need to be close to MIA (which we did not need) the location is a plus. But, pick a different hotel because this Staybridge's management staff needs to be seriously upgraded and their staff needs to be retrained. Or, bring your own...
