I just experienced being harassed and accused of not extending and not paying when I did my due diligence before 12 noon which included renewing the key card as well as signing a new agreement When I called down to extend, I was told I needed to make a new reservation due to my corporate rate, Diamond Elite status or my Military status; regardless I made a new reservation online whilst still on the phone. We had to wait until the reservation went thru, which it did and I received a phone call confirming. I was then told to come downstairs and sign for the paperwork, renew the key card and I'll be in the same room. All is fine all thru out the day. Then when I come back from picking up food, we were met with hostility and accusations. First accused of not extending, to which I replied that I called this morning before noon. Then I was accused of never coming down to sign the paperwork, to which I replied then how did I even get back into the room after checking out? How was I not bothered until this evening if I hadn't? I emplored this staff member to please check the camera footage before making false, seemingly emotional-fuelled accusations. I confirmed with her to continue with the charge, which it did. Then, without an apology whatsoever, she stated that she'll need to talk to her "staff" like she was a manager or supervisor because I was never checked in.
I have done by due diligence, expecting the same in return. Or at least some understanding and respect. Apparently that's asking too much where at La Quinta Inn & Suites - Minnetonka you are guilty until proven innocent. I am so beyond grossly disappointed in my experience that this may as well be my first time staying here, it will very likely be my last.
You know, it was funny. I was thinking earlier after signing the paperwork and renewing the cards that this may be my new favorite location. Nicer facility, great value, hot breakfast and the ability to plug in my car to recharge. This may very well be my last time I stay at this facility, which is a shame because I really like this place. Unfortunately due to this experience I will avoid this location and I'm thinking I'll just renew my Titanium Elite status with Marriott Bonvoy. They may be more expensive, but save for finances, the experience at Marriott with my $18k+ annual spend with them last calendar year was much more consistent, much nicer facilities, always get a hot breakfast and some even have a Level 2 car charger on-site. They've done their due diligence when things don't go the way we expect it to. When they've made a mistake, I'm met with an apology. Not once have I got an apology here.
Edit: looking at reviews here, it appears this location has a history of not checking people in and not authorizing the card for the stay. Staff has been a mixed bundle. My initial first night the staff was wonderful, even this morning when I extended it was great, however this most recent encounter ruined it all for me. I can understand mistakes happen, but when it does happen, I expect whomever it is to take accountability for the situation. However, no responsibility or accountability was taken. Heck, I even apologized for my bank not authorizing the charge initially this evening. Everything wrong will be your fault and the lodging staff won't do anything wrong. Impossible.
Response from the General Manager via email shows that my negative experience was with her. I'm truly appalled that this experience from the General Manager was so bad and that her employees interaction with me was much more positive and fun, a sad but hilariously stark contrast. Wyndham's District Manager should rethink who bears the General Manager moniker for La Quinta Minnetonka.
Any new updates to this godawful experience will be updated...
Read moreThe location is minutes from my sister's house which is why we picked it. We have now stayed there 3 times. Once with our dog and twice without. They have always been able to put me close the the elevator due to some mobility issues. The place is decent. I have checked for bed bugs and other icky with a light and it always passes though not always perfect, coupled with I can usually get it for a decent price has brought us back. I like that we can bring the dog and they don't seem to be too worried about the dog which is nice. Some places get weird about having a dog who is not a service animal. I realize a lot of that may be how some owners handle their dogs. In our case, she is well-behaved but not a service animal though we are working on certification now. Anyway, there is coffee most of the time which my husband loves but not always hot and fresh. But he is one one those people just happy to find any coffee made after 9 pm. He will heat up and dr it up in our room. BUT all other concessions are sold by the front desk and they don't take cash. I'm guessing they let you bill it to the room? But I don't know that since we have never bought anything from them. It seems weird to me that I can't just pay for a soda. No machines that we could find. The ice is free though. We always just hit a gas station around the corner before heading back there. Check-in is easy and they always hold our room for us as twice it was after midnight when we checked in. I always just use the La Quinta website to reserve and there has never been a problem. We stay As I said I do check every place for various grossness and bugs. No matter the price we pay. But I allow some grace since other than a Sat night we have rarely paid more than 65.00. They don't always clean as I would. However, all the important places have always tested clear. Bed, toilet and sink (I am convinced hotels and motels need to give their cleaning staff their own blue lights.) Tubs are not always scum free but have never had any bodily fluids. I do bring my own cleaning supplies to just tidy up a bit but I won't full on clean a place. We will leave if I ever find bodily fluids left anywhere, any bugs or smells. Checkout has been simple, we leave the key on the counter and leave. They do charge your card at check-in. Note: I haven't tried but I expect they don't take cash for room payment either. The free breakfast is OK. Nothing to get excited about and mostly carbs. The usual spread, very kid friendly menu.
Overall, they are a solid fairly clean economical place to lay your head. We have never used any amenities and never needed the front desk for anything but check in. I should have let them know about the shower bar being unusable cause it made showers scary for me but we were in town for something this time and we were in a hurry every time I thought about saying something. I did let them know...
Read moreI have stayed at this hotel numerous times for work and personal trips. This hotel is very clean and a good deal for your money. I just recently stayed there for an extended stay while on a back to school shopping trip with my daughter. We had done a lot of shopping and had a lot of shopping bags and new clothes, shoes, etc. On Sunday, we left a note for housekeeping to throw away a stack of empty shopping bags on the left side of the wall. On the right side of the wall there was a bunch of brand new shoes lined up and a shopping bag with a brand new winter jacket and winter vest. All of the garbage was thrown away so we never thought to make sure the new items were still there. When i got home on Tueday and unpacked, I couldn't find those items. I called the hotel at 3:30 pm that day and told them the situation, they said they were going to check the room as they weren't sure if my room had been cleaned yet or not and they would call me back. The front desk person did call back and said the bag wasn't in the room. I said I figured that and explained that I believed someone had taken the items from the hotel room. She said that the Assistant Manager would call me the next day. I never got a phone call from anyone on Wednesday. On Thursday, I called the hotel and the General Manager answered. I shared with him my concern and he asked if I spoke with the Assistant Manager. I told him I was supposed to but she never called. He said the Assistant Manager would be in at 3:00 pm that day and they would discuss the situation and call me back. I never received a call back. I tried to call the hotel today and no one answers. I am appalled that the management of this hotel thinks it's no big deal that my $150 worth of items is missing and I know they were taken out of the room. All I want is my items back or them to acknowledge the situation. Unfortunately, due to this experience, this hotel just lost my business for both personal and work trips. If you stay at this hotel, I would suggest you don't leave any items laying around as apparently their hotel staff can't be trusted and their management doesn't do...
