I loved this hotel...compared to others around this area it was priced right. We paid approx 250.00 a night. We had a full kitchen(oven, microwave, full fridge) had everything u need to cook meals. Had couch( sofa bed that our 2 kids slept comfortably in) dining table...we had our own bedroom - king sized bed( very comfortable) full sized deep tub( loved , just out in the open was odd) had closet with safe inside and dresser with huge drawers. Little corner with vanity mirror and stool ( I liked that) our room was connected to bathroom which had full size walk in shower ( big enough for 2 people ) big counter in bathroom and wall separating toilet. Bonus we had nice balcony. They provided 4 beach towels- which was so nice. They offered free shuttle to beach- nice but it took long time to get there at times because they service other hotels ...but all the drivers are so nice and informative. Shuttles seemed to run 15 minutes or so. We never had long waits. Got trapped in rain storm on beach - they have good size shelter house at the bus stop on beach ..there is also a restraunt right at bus stop where shuttle drops u off at beach. The shuttle also takes you to the village minutes away ( u can wAlk there too-9min walk) lots of shops, stores and activities- beautiful worth the time to just check out. They have 2 pools- adult ( shallow 3-4 ft. , heated ) pool and kid pool(which is deeper) 2 hot tubs on both sides. We had all first night to ourselves( quiet and nice) they have hammocks near pool , grills, plenty of lounge chairs. The entire pool area is beautiful There is also nice trail and bridge to an "islAnd" we walked very nice. The movie theatre was nice, esp when it rained ...if you goto front desk early you get to choose movie ..thry play 3 per night. Its not the best sound quality, but its cool for hotel. The free unlimited free arcade games was awesome( never been anywhere that offered that) played Mrs.Pac mAn more than I ever had. Nice( small) workout room...but good views of bay. The employees were alright, not real helpful. But sufficient- just nothing over the top. The only negative was no restraunt- Didn't want to cook everyday- but on a rainy day it would of been nice to not have to drive or leave on shuttle to eat. Our view from our room was bad( the roof of the entrance) but I'm sure the views from the back facing bay was nice. They had volleyball court too. Offered free bike rentals for 4 hours( 2 bikes) , free kayaking for w hour..also offered beach items in garage free from past guest left there( first come first serve) offer a huge list of great dvds to rent in room free...
Hotel is great with lots to do ..we couldn't even do everything. Beautiful and even tho its not on the beach you can easily ride abike or shuttle. I was informed by bus driver there is a tunnel that goes under the main highway to the beach so not to worry..found that out last day tho.I will definitely consider coming back here if I'm in the area...
Read moreWe went to Destin for my birthday in March and enjoyed so much that we decided to come back for my daughter's 10th birthday! We wanted to stay in another resort this time so upon searching on Expedia I came across this one. I am HUGE about ratings/Customer reviews and so I read more about this place. As for my stay it was awesome! Jessica (a fellow Alabamian and Alabama fan...Roll Tide!) checked us in and was very informative on the amenities and surrounding areas. So here is a run down because when I read reviews I want to know as much as possible so here goes!...
Check out was friendly and quick! There is a 100$ deposit that you get back after the stay and a 20$ per day resort fee that goes to the resort. There are several amenities on the property such as an actual MOVIE THEATER, yes a movie theater. We got a chance to watch the game on Saturday! Nonetheless, aside from the fame they show movies throughout the evening. They have several movies to choose from or you can bring your own movie such as from Redbox BUT it's on a first come first serve basis so if someone gets there before you you just have to watch whatever movie they chose. There is an arcade down from the movie theater that is free for guests meaning you do not have to have coins, everything is free play BUT the fuse ball machine (not sure if I spelled that right). This is great to keep the kids busy. There is a volleyball court on the premises and they do have volleyballs at the desk. Pool, hot tub, hammocks, comfortable pool lounge chairs! Pool and beach towels are provided. Full kitchen/washer and dryer. Huge bathrooms including huge tub in Master bedroom. We had the bay view facing the pool and over the bay and it was beautiful! The resort IS NOT ON THE BEACH BUT the beach isn't that fair. The great thing is that they provide a shuttle every 25-30 minutes to the beach or to other amenities surrounding the property. The property itself and surrounding area is GORGEOUS! Surrounded by golf course, beautiful homes, it is a gated community with a security guard 24/7 so just not anyone can get in. Surrounding scenery is beautiful, with nature and bike trails. You can walk to restaurants, a movie theater, Publix or drive less than 2 minutes away... all within the surrounding properties. They have activities for kids to keep them busy as well! You can rent 2 bikes for free! We had 3 other kids so that didn't quit work out for us lol! But overall great experience! I will...
Read moreI went to the Hilton Grand Vacations Club with my family in February, and we had a wonderful trip. Highly recommend it for a family vacation. We have two young kids (4 and 6), and these are the things I could not find clear answers to before we went, and you may find helpful: the rooms are spacious and clean, with a full kitchen that was very lightly outfitted. It had salt and pepper, 1 pan, 3 pots, and a few cooking utensils. It did not have tupperware, foil, saran wrap, etc. the pool was heated and the hot tubs were hot. plenty warm to swim in cloudy 70-degree weather. there were beach towels provided in the rooms. there were lots of beach toys left behind by past guests. the desk can explain where to find them. this location is NOT affiliated with the Hilton that is beachfront on the gulf and you can not use those facilities. this facility IS part of the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort which is mainly condos but there are a few other pools. they were not heated while we were there, so the on-site pool was best. there is dedicated beach-front space with chairs set up (2 per family), and free parking next to the beach access. it was very easy to get to the beach. there was a shuttle bus running that we saw but did not use. in Feb the no-see-ems / biting gnats were brutal. buy / bring bug spray. the town of Baytowne Wharf is cute and touristy. lots of great stuff for kids. In Feb many of the businesses were closed for renovation (off season), and the adventure zone features were closed even beyond what they published on the website. We were there for 5 days so luckily had a chance to explore everything when they finally opened on Fri. We could not walk to Baytowne from the hotel w/ a 4 and 6 year old. maybe 10yo+ could in 10 mins or so. Parking there was easy, but it was off season. at a busy time I imagine it could be hard. this hotel has no food / bar on site. however there are lots of options for delivery or pickup within 5 mins drive. there are 2 pools and 2 hot tubs. the pools and 1 hot tub are open to all ages/families. one hot tub is adults only. we found lots of great kid-friendly things within 15 min drive: The Track (rides, go karts, mini golf), Fat...
