We spent a great weekend here while exploring Arches & Canyonlands. The outside is nice with a little park area with nice trees, picnic tables and bags to clean up after your pets and behind is an area of scrub trees and little trails. The pool and hot tub are behind the building. They're both small but still nice to have. The area should be somewhat shady in the summer which would be a relief from the summer heat.
The lobby is nothing fancy but it's clean and there's a fairly large breakfast area which they are serving still with the COVID restrictions. They have hot eggs and sausage served as a bowl, sandwich or burrito. It was pretty decent, better than microwave burritos. Apple and orange juice, muffins and sweetrolls.
We had a king room with a decent corner sofa with a chaise on the end. It was a very comfortable room where we could spread out and get comfie. I was very happy with the shower. Good water pressure with an adjustable shower head that was high enough that we didn't have to hunch down to get our head wet. The towels were quite thick and fluffy too!
The site is pretty walkable too. The Blu Pig is right next to the parking lot and it's got delicious BBQ!! Their selection of beer is really good too. Across the street is El Charro Loco which is good. We especially like the steak fajitas. We also like The Moab Brewery which is also across the street in the Village shopping area with a grocery, hardware and dollar store.
Finally I have to give a shout out for The Moab Diner a few blocks up town. Their Sweetwater Skillet is the best breakfast and their ice cream bar is excellent and has decent prices. Oh, one last thing, if you are looking for an awesome thrill go to the Island in the Sky part of Canyonlands (up near DeadHorse Point) and check out the Shafer Switchbacks! The road cuts back and forth across the hillside as it descends 1100 ft. Make your way over to Deadhorse Point for a closeup view and then over to the Salt Ponds and Rt 279 which runs right along the Colorado past Jug Handle Arch, Corona Arch and a few easily accessible petroglyph sites and dinosaur tracks as you drive...
Read moreWe had a great multi day stay here at this clean and well serviced hotel. It was convenient to nearby national parks (Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde), and many good restaurants. ||Room was clean and amenities were well maintained. We asked for daily cleaning service. One day they forgot and our call got them to quickly come over and finish the job in 15 minutes. Beds were comfy with extra pillows. Towels were absorbent The sink is outside of the shower/toilet room, which was very convenient. Sink counter had lots of space for the three of us. TV and refrigerator worked well. ||Breakfast was the best we got in a long time! The environment was cheerful and bright as everyone was enjoying the breakfast experience. There were many hot and cold selections. Bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, juice, coffee, tea are there. The attendants were on top of everything with refills and clean up needs. They even picked up our empty plates and wiped tables to be ready for the next person. Pictures of the arches, canyons and beautiful landscapes adorned the walls. TV buzzed with current events. There was indoor and outdoor seating. ||Fitness center was basic and had towels too. TV was functional allowing for streaming services. Lights turned off after 10 minutes if you were away from the motion sensor. ||We used their laundry services twice and it worked well both times. Laundry was a popular activity for others too. ||Front desk staff were friendly. They gave us good tips and made for a really good conversation each day we walked in. Anna was the best! Lobby was welcoming with nice sofas and hot/cold refreshments like coffee, tea and cold citrus water. ||We would definitely stay here again...
Read moreWe stayed here for a couple nights. Building is old, ceiling above creaks with every single footstep. Footsteps themselves are silent, but it’s the creaking that accompanies them that’ll drive you nuts. And the creaking isn’t a tiny creak here and there - the entire ceiling shakes and the creaks reverberate from one side of the room to the other. After a long tiring day of hiking, still woke up every morning at 5 AM thanks to creaking. Even my two family members who are both notorious for sleeping like the dead would wake up. We would all wake up irritable, not a good way to start your day. It was our luck to have upstairs patrons walking around nonstop for 40 minutes to start their morning. Not sure what you’re doing at 5 AM to make you walk back and forth nonstop. Again, it’s not their footsteps. It’s the creaking. We can trace their every movement from their beds to when they go to their bathroom. And it’s not their fault. They’re not partying. They’re not jumping. They’re just walking.
My sixty year old good natured father remarked, “In all my years, from good hotels to dirty motels, I’ve never had an experience with creaking like this before. Let’s not come here to sleep again.”
Otherwise, good hot breakfast, ample parking, nice staff, water bottle filling station available. Nice that they sell travel sized accessories (over the counter medications, toothbrushes, snacks) in case you need something. But -2 stars since you came here to sleep and it’s a toss-up as to whether you’ll get any depending on your luck.
Written at 6:40 AM after being tired of woken up bright and early for multiple mornings and having to listen to creaking that hasn’t relented for the last...
