Beautiful main building, and spacious. However location and access is inconvenient, and noisy especially on the weekends. Rooms have dated amenities, florescent lights on auto timers that malfunction, 20+ year old TV's, no HVAC, rooms have no sound proofing.. you can hear everyone in the rooms around, above and below you to include the hallway, hope you enjoy listening to weddings and whatever social events are going on as you don't have a till about midnight.
If the rooms themselves felt like you were stepping back in time to soak in some history, I would be all about it. However, the room I received look like it had a late '80s or mid '90s update.
The breakfast makes hotel 8 look like fine dining, it the absolute lowest effort, bottom of the barrel selections possible to eliminate any food prep by the staff. If it wasn't frozen, out of a can, or pulled from a shelf stable bag you won't find it here. If the breakfast came close to what is showed on publications in the hotel and on the website they would get some good grace, it's disingenuous at best. Hope you like salt and pepper packets as hot sauce is not in their budget. Peanut butter for your bread or banana?!? Hell no they have "peanut sauce" and it's pumpable! Oatmeal, the hotel management has taken a firm stance about any flavors and easonings they cost too much and are offensive.... plain oatmeal packets are the only thing allowed in these premises.
Beds are comfortable but the HVAC (there is no HVAC) and noise will bother you if you are a light sleeper. Bang for the buck. If you have the opportunity I would pick one of the surrounding hotels for the extra $40 to $50 especially on an extended stay.
The business center has limited connectivity, Wi-Fi is inconsistent and spotty, the printer did not work, and there is no post office on base nor will the front desk accept letters or parcels for pickup.
It's apparent that this hotel has a large reliance on tax dollars from TDY members utilizing government lodging as directed, and use as a private event venue.
There is no incentive to step up their game, had I not been on a extended stay I would have been much more tolerant. But given the full experience, I'm really disappointed in how this hidden gem is managed and operated.
Most of the staff is outstanding, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreZero star hotel. Worst management and policies. Outdated tech and decor. Really a shame because it could be a great hotel⦠but the GM (and prior GMs) is obviously unqualified and inept. Iāve stayed here probably 15-20 times over the past 15 years. Originally, it was great. $50/night for decent rooms. It has only become worse. Why do I stay there? Because I have to. Now itās $150-160/night. Rooms are infested with bugs. No AC; Iāve had rooms that you canāt turn off the heat in the summer⦠so the room is 20+ degrees warmer than outside. Dirty and worn. Birds have taken over the grounds with excrement everywhere. The red roof is literally white with excrement. Signs warning you not to use areas because the birds can attack you. WiFi is almost useless⦠5Mbps speed. Cell reception is terrible. TVs are outdated with tv guide channels from 25 years ago. Breakfast is embarrassing. No protein, very little to actually eat. The toiletries are terrible; probably rejects from the super 8 or motel 6. Oh, and the power or water goes out (without fail) every single time I stay there. Windows open 3 inches so you donāt jump out to escape the bugs and heat. Housekeeping staff is obligated to go into your room every third day. Probably to treat for bugs and ensure youāre still alive. No other hotel I e ever stayed at has had that type of policy. Checkin process is abhorrent and way too long. God forbid there are people in line, it could take you an hour. Meanwhile any other hotel takes 5 mins. All in all, just one of the absolute worst hotels Iāve ever stayed in. The ONLY way theyāre still operating is because the government subsidizes this dumpster fire. Where is all the money going? Proof the government shouldnāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs far as Navy Hotel goes, it's better an average. While the architecture and grounds are spectacular, the rooms take me back to baracks days- smells the same. Maybe that dingy boot camp smell šµāš«. It's clean and I don't mind outdated rooms. However, the pull out sofa needs to be toss or replace with new mattress. Hairline thin, recommend bring air mattress. No AC, might be toasty in the summer season. We were fine once we opened windows (no screens) in the evening and close at night and ran the fan on high. Continental breakfast (muffins, waffles/pancakes, fruit). Overall, for the price, can't complain. Free parking, no taxes/fees, dog friendly, contential bfast, onsite restaurant/bar, gym, 24 hour security, gas station, mini mart, exclusive members...
