This is a cozy hotel. We got the suite bedrooms and it was comfortable and relaxing. The lady at the desk was kind and informed me of everything we needed to know. I was honestly shocked to be in a hotel with no AC. But when I called to ask, they were kind enough to supply us with a fan. At first I was thinking to myself, no way? Only one fan for two bedrooms, how is that going to work? It actually worked you guys! The entire unit was fresh. We didn’t want to open the windows because of our kids. I’m an extra cautious mom and didn’t feel right opening the window and what if we don’t hear someone get through, you know? So we were happy the fan worked. The shower is uber small. It was not what I had selected. In the photos of the room when I made the selections, it had a tub and somewhere to place the lofa and shampoo and conditioner. This room we were given, did not. The toilet seat did not open all the way, when you sit down, your back is what holds it up more. Super disappointed in the tiny shower. Everything else was fantastic, just the shower was super disappointing and I would have paid extra for a more comfortable shower if it were an option. I feel so bad saying this but because of the shower, I will not be returning. I do think for anyone else this might be a great hotel but the limited shower space is why I can not come back. Hopefully some renovations can be done to improve the hotel? A small window AC might do the room wonders. Specially with temperatures changing. Each year it gets hotter and hotter.
Oh! And the “breakfast” is only a granola bar with juice. I’m not complaining just wanted to let other know. I know COVID-19 has put a lot of restrictions on things so I can’t blame the hotel completely but I would like to make a suggestion. I have stayed at lower quality hotels and what they did to replace their usual hot breakfast is offering those little prepackaged cereal bowls and those little carton of milks with half a banana. Or what I’ve also seen is those Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches that you can heat up in your hotel rooms microwave along with a juice box. I see there are a lot of reviews with being upset about breakfast so I just wanted to share my experience in other hotels that maybe could help you guys out here?
Again the breakfast wasn’t an issue for us, we skipped on it and went to Awakening which is 10-15 minutes from the hotel and near Monterey Bay Aquarium.
This hotel is at a great location. A lot of stores and restaurants near by. If the weather would have been cooler, I would say it’s family friendly but during the summer I’m not so sure.
Again my only issue was the shower and lack of places to put your items...
Read moreThis is my second stay at the Travelodge, and while I think it's a pretty nice deal, I do have a few concerns about the bathroom. Let's explore!
Pro: It looks as though the bathroom has recently been remodeled. Con: It looks this way because you can see all the old screw holes in the dry wall. They tried to fill the holes with some kind of rubber. Why they didn't just use Spackle is beyond me. Pro: The shower is an enclosed, all tile room with a glass shower door. Con: There is no light in this enclosed room. I showered in the dark. There are two switches on the wall, but after playing with them for longer than any grown man should, I couldn't figure out what the second switch was for. Pro: It was nice to see that they had free shampoo since I forgot mine. Con: It was all the way across the bathroom so I had to awkwardly hang out of the shower to grab it. Pro: The temperature control was really easy to use. Con: The shower head was placed for midgets. I am only 5'8" and I had to lean my head back way to far for comfort. I felt like that little girl from all those chain letters I never forwarded was going to take advantage of my vulnerable situation and cut my throat wide open. Pro: The shower door latches shut quite securely. Con: It latches so violently, for a second you wonder if the fire department is going to need to get involved for your rescue. Con: The shower door opens outward, so after about 10 seconds of being opened after your shower you have a giant puddle to clean up. Con: The towels are placed on the wrong side of the door. You have to get out of the shower, get the floor wet, and then grab your towel. Con: If you look at the ceiling, there is a fan and a mystery hole. It looks like something should go there, but it's just a circle hole with a metal plate inside. I imagine this is where they lower the camera from. Con: If you look at the fan, you might notice that the center screw is not the original screw. You can tell because the scratches from the old screw are much wider than the new one. I am suspicious of this change. Con: If you further inspect the screw (perhaps just the one in my room) you'll notice an abnormally long black hair hanging from it. How did a long black hair get caught on a ceiling screw? Con: The toilet flush is so loud and sudden that you might want to make sure you're sitting down when you flush it to avoid any scary accidents. Con: The door is not as wide as a regular door. If you don't notice this when you open it, you end up using too much strength and whipping it open as if you're trying to escape Mike Tyson's ferocious tiger.
Over all, I'd say this room is alright. Just a...
Read moreWe recently stayed here for a wedding over in Cannery Row. Our stay was a bit eventful. Parents will want to read this. This is the second trip we've taken with our autistic child.
Location - Decent. There is an airport about 1-2 miles away, they fly over the hotel. Price - Fair Clean - Yes, theyre a "Green" Hotel and only come to change the sheets every 3 days. I checked both rooms we stayed in and the beds didnt show signs of bed bugs (129 & 237) 237 looked like a brand new mattress too. Child Friendly - Yes and no, there is a few safety concerns. Noise - Mostly quiet until the planes fly over. Airport is nearby.
They do require a $100 deposit for incidentals. They for some odd reason charged us one night during the stay then the remainder at the end of the stay. When we checked out the clerk was slightly confused why we were charged half, when they were supposed to charge us in full at the beginning of the stay.
Pros - Staff is friendly. We didn't have an issue with the staff. Rooms are pretty big, which is nice if you have kids. Beautiful landscaping great weather AC works great The lights will turn themselves off. With my little ones, the hallway/entrance light stayed on long enough where they fell asleep.
CONS - So here's the safety concerns I was talking about.
They have 2 doors per room. A sliding glass door and the normal door.
The normal door has retractable window panes that you can open and close. We had someone knocking off and on through out the first night in 129. No clue who it was and by the time i would get to the door they would be gone.
The Sliding glass door is huge. It is easily unlocked. If you have little ones, they can get that door open and be gone in 2 seconds. We had this happen (thus room change) our autistic daughter heard kids outside (we had closed the curtains and tried to hide the door) and was able to get out the door. I was asleep and my teenager was in the bathroom, my husband was at our car getting something when she snuck out. She was found safely. The door was easy to open. Wish there was a secondary lock to make is harder for young children to get out.
Interesting thing they do here, they turn OFF the fridge. So you have to turn it on and wait for it to be cool. There's nothing inside of the fridges and they are clean.
The shower is small. A very interesting design too.
In over all we had a good time at this hotel. Its affordable and a nice place to stay. Just keep an eye on your...
