This place is one of the most disgusting establishments I’ve ever encountered.
We booked this motel on a road trip after we needed a last minute place to stay. Upon arrival, the front desk woman was very nice. The check in lobby was extremely cluttered but in a somewhat charming way. The woman had to be around 85 years old.
Firstly, the photos of the rooms online are extremely misleading. After paying over $250 for the night, we went up to our room and were immediately hit with the smell of urine. The carpets were stained and the furniture/linens were painfully outdated. I peeled back the sheets to take a look and check for bedbugs. The sheets were stained and layers of dust on the surfaces.
We immediately noped out and found a hotel in San Jose an hour away which we drove to at 10pm after a long day.
The motel lobby was closed when we left so I planned to call for a refund in the morning. We drove back in the morning and spoke to the same woman that was working the previous night and the switch in her demeanor was as if a demon possessed her body. The look in her eye when I asked for a refund was only that of pure evil.
She immediately gaslighted us saying that because I touched the sheets, housekeeping now has to clean the entire room and how disrespectful it was to “mess up the room” I explained how I needed to check for cleanliness before sleeping in this already suspicious room. She refused to compromise and kept calling me disrespectful and even said that she would not speak to me anymore, only my boyfriend.
A truly traumatizing experience. In addition to all this, you could see long term tenants in some of the rooms with open doors. One room PACKED with trash and clutter another with what looked like people doing drugs. Seems like a hangout for sex workers and drug dealers.
We never got a refund. I hate this place with every fiber of my being. It’s a health hazard and needs to be...
Read moreRecommend and will visit again.||||Ok, the mattress wasn't great, the wifi wasn't great, no coffee, and there was a gasp CRT television! exaggerated horror movie face . Big deal. If I wanted the Royal Treatment, "Hyatt - two blocks down the street."||||What my wife and I got was the Family Treatment. I'll take that, 2-to-1, any day of the week.||We went to Monterey over President's Day weekend because it coincided with my wife's birthday weekend. Needless to say, I wanted the weekend to be awesome (I did let her book the motel; the entire weekend was about what she wanted).||||Pulled into the tiny parking lot - plants in every spare corner and patch of dirt, many that we'd never seen or heard of before. Plants in pots or planters along every building; more potted plants dotted the second floor walkways.||||Stepped into the office - same thing. It looked like walking into that crazy aunt nobody talks about's house. . . plants and pictures and paintings and statuettes and knickknacks and doodads everywhere. It was beautiful and homey. As the Missus said, "a very hippie-dippy place." ||||And then there's Shin. Shin is great. ||||She immediately made us feel more like we were family returned from a long journey than a middle-aged white couple visiting from the Central Valley. There are few words to describe it. . . it can only be experienced.||Just be respectful. ||||Staying at the Fireside was a definite contribution to the awesome birthday weekend my wife & I celebrated. This was our 5th trip to Monterey in 10 years. We've stayed in a different motel each time we didn't come as a day trip. The Fireside will be our only choice from here on out.||We'll tell our friends. ||||I give respect begrudgingly and only to those who earn it; Shin has earned my respect as well as my...
Read moreOld and needs updating into the 21 century,, Landscape is very creative- but this is far from the rooms which are rented. There are undercover fees such as 2.50 a phone call- local and a dollar a day for just visiting and staying overnight. If you have a pet- you are out of luck when is comes to hotels- unless you want to pay a gouging fee even in this Inn. The little stores around this Inn are quaint and the owners are very nice and receptive to you business. Noise level is adequate, Inn does not turn on the outside lights by the rooms, so it pitch black-At night a box shoe camper is always parked on the outer curb- with two dogs in the front seat- Seems this person disappears during the day and returns at night- his two pet making quite a racket when you pass by walking your pets. They seriously need to update their ad on the internet- What I saw on the internet as an ad for this Inn is far from the reality. Upon leaving do not forget to flip your box spring mattress for an extra under cover surprise-Mgt is friendly and receptive.Tv has many channels- but is outdated and screen is dark, There is something free- Parking- otherwise one pays a good price for staying in an...
