First time here was about a year ago when I found the food to be just ok, nothing special, probably 3⭐'s at best. I did like the generous helping of chips & salsa, and the salsa buffet was unique & decent - it would have been much better if it was labeled so I knew what they were. The service was really good which is why I'm giving them 4⭐'s. I will likely come back just to see if some other food item on the menu is better.
Update 12/30/19 - Went for dinner this time instead of lunch. My lady & I both ordered different combination plates. The "star" of mine was what they called a "Chimi" that I thought meant Chimichanga. Having grown up in Southern Arizona, I know what a Chimichanga is & what they served wasn't one. Best I can describe what I got was a quesadilla that was plopped on the flattop in an attempt to get it a little crispy. And it didn't work at all - it was floppy & soggy & genuinely horrible enough that I stopped eating half way through. The rice was tasteless, the only decent thing on the plate was the beans. My lady's wasn't quite as bad, but she said it overall lacked taste, was very disappointing & she brought more than half home for the dog. So, what was 4 stars before based on good service & not the food, is now a solid 2 stars & I likely won't go back & waste my money again.
Update 3/30/23 - I grew up in Southern Arizona 30 miles from the Mexican border & was blessed to enjoy delicious Sonoran style Mexican food. I've been blessed to live in many states & traveled for work in over half of the country & experienced "Mex" foods of all sorts, some good, most not so. Being an outsider moving up here I thought giving any restaurant a few times to see how they did was the nicest thing I could do.
Don't ask me why, but I gave them a 4th try taking my lady there for dinner. She's pretty tolerant of the lack of decent eating places up here but thought what she ordered was watery & mostly tasteless, like it came from the freezer to the microwave to the plate & she actually pushed it back & said she hoped she wouldn't get sick after eating a few bites. If that wasn't bad enough, the margaritas they served were watery with little taste & not a hint of tequila.
If you're in the mood for Mexican food, go anywhere other than this disgusting joint... It's now down to 1⭐ & that's...

We started our night after 6 hours of lake time and needed food. We were sunburnt and so tired. Family of 5....the ac inside was cold, the entrance smells nice and clean, and when you walk in there is enthusiastic staff, joyful music and exciting colors and art everywhere! A fantastic artist hand painted all of the chairs and booths. Our booth murals told a whole story of how tequila is made. The kids were thoroughly entertained.
THEN. THENNNNN you see the guacamole cart! Fresh to order guacamole, do not sleep on this. The cart is the cutest thing and made me as excited as a little kid! The server rolls the cart around and makes you guacamole with cucumber. To die for after a day of hot dogs and chips at the lake!
MENU: so unique that you will not know what to order. They have standard Mexican dishes too, but so many different dishes I could eat there 15 times and each time have something I've never had before.
Prices: not cheap but worth every penny. For instance, the fajitas had 3 different colors of peppers, mushrooms and the side salad was a dark green Lettuce and good looking tomatoes, sliced cucumber. Passionate detail in each plate.
Food came out quick and was such a DELIGHT. You won't have this experience anywhere else!!! I hear the music get turned louder, I think oh OK it's a party haha....no. that means your food is ready! The server delivers your order on a rolling electronic cart that has music playing!! I mean I clapped like a 2 year old I was so happy! Very much embarrassed my kids but they were also smiling ear to ear.
Theres handmade water wheels and wooden sculptures, I mean. Tell me this owner isn't the most passionate restaurant owner you've ever met. He came around to our table too.
I think I want elote for breakfast. Cannot WAIT to go back. Please give them all your business so they never, ever leave. What a...
Read moreMesquite Grill is the best; my husband and I love everything about it. From the minute you walk in the door, you feel welcomed and valued. The atmosphere is so fun with the beautifully painted chairs and booths, the cool statues, and the colorful hanging decorations. We are always seated immediately and drinks and warm chips and salsa are brought out quickly. As vegans, we always get the Veggie Fajitas minus the sour cream and cheese and our server has always honored our wishes and gotten the order exactly right. I just love the musical magical cart that they bring the food out on, talk about getting the party started! The food itself is absolutely delicious. The variety of the veggies is amazing, about 9-10 different types and they are all grilled to perfection. Some restaurants have super greasy fajitas but not here, they are perfect. I am also in love with the tortilla bowl that they serve the refried beans in, so yummy! I have never seen this in another Mexican restaurant before. We always ask for corn tortillas and they are so delicious, very authentic. I must give a shout-out to Kelly who has served us the last two times. She is a breath of fresh air, willing to get you anything you need to make your meal better. Kelly has boundless energy and gives her complete attention to all of her customers. Please check out Mesquite if you never have,...
