Stayed here from May 20th to May 22nd at a rate of $150 per night. The lobby was under construction so the main entrance was not accessible. There was a sign in front of the entrance saying you couldn't enter, but there were no directions as to where you should check in. After parking, we found the back entrance and went inside. The office is directly to the left, where you check in, but we walked right past it and to the main lobby (under construction) before realizing that we had indeed walked past it, because it was a rather small and dingy room, and even though three employees were present in it, no one said anything to us and it wasn't obvious that we should check in there. Once we said we were there to check in, one of the employees asked our last name and then gave us a room key. They didn't ask us for identification or for a credit card for incidental purchases, which made me questions the safety of the hotel (anyone could walk in and say there were anybody without identification). Our room was the best part about the stay. It was recently remodeled and quite nice. It was clean and modern. However, the small kitchenette did not have a coffee pot or any kind of glass/cups. We went down to the lobby and asked for a coffee pot, coffee, mugs, and glasses. We never got them, not that day or the next, after being told they were to be brought up. In the morning there was a coffee cart in the makeshift office. This coffee was ok, and at least we had some in the morning, but the cart was being propped up by a couple of bibles (and there wasn't one in our room, by the way). The continental breakfast was a just some off-brand chocolate muffins and a few Nature Valley bars. And each night we came back to the hotel after 11 PM, at which time the hotel door is locked from the outside, requiring guests to scan their room key to unlock it. The mechanism to scan the card was completely broken, so we has to call the number listed on the door. We spoke to a woman who asked if we were hotels guests and then eventually came from somewhere on the second floor (not the office) to let us in. She asked us if the card reader wasn't working, as though she had no idea. She seemed very put upon by the fact that she has to come let us in. This happened both nights. Overall, the room was decent but everything else about this hotel was less that satisfactory. There was nothing in the hotel description about it being under construction (it was mentioned in a few other reviews) and no information was sent to us about what to expect as far as being inconvenienced by the lobby construction. The only time anyone seemed interested in doing their job at this hotel was on the day we checked out (check out must be by 11 am), at 9:30 am, someone knocked on the door to see if we were still there. I've never had that happen in a hotel before. They were eager to have us leave, but not eager to make out time at the hotel decent. I'm sure when the lobby is finished, some of the inconvenience will be eliminated, but the lackadaisical attitude of the staff...
Read moreWhen we initially made our reservation at the Extended Stay Vanderbilt, we were unable to select an option to add a child. My husband had to call the hotel to confirm that children were allowed. He asked to reserve a crib for the room, but the person on the phone said he had to call a different number to do that, she could only do reservations. When I called I was told they did not provide cribs. We travel fairly frequently with our child, so this was a surprise for a hotel that allows children. Thankfully we were driving, so we brought along a travel crib.
When we arrived we learned there were no luggage carts available. The woman at the counter told me they only had two, since the hotel was only four floors. That reasoning doesn't quite make sense to me. She told me that we could wait and maybe someone would bring them back. I opted to check each floor to see if they had been abandoned in the hallway, no luck. So we piled all of our luggage into the stroller and hauled it up.
The room was small, but looked clean. Despite being on a nonsmoking floor the hallway smelled strongly of smoke, there was a cigarette burn on our bathtub, and I found a cigarette butt under the bed.
The bed had a very thin, flimsy bedspread that kept sliding off of the bed while we slept leaving only the top sheet and a thin fleece blanket. The bedspread was surprisingly warm, but it kept slipping off so I'd wake up cold and have to feel around for it in the dark. The next morning I called the front desk to ask to have a second fleece blanket sent up and was met with a deep sigh and told, "You can come down and get one from the front desk" and then hung up on.
Our room was not cleaned the second day we were there. Maybe that's normal with an Extended Stay, I don't know because I've never stayed at one before (and I won't ever again). When we arrived there was half of roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, and when we ran out and I called the front desk I was again told if I wanted it, I could come and get it myself.
The staff was friendly when we were coming and going, but the moment we needed something we were met with annoyed hostility. If the Extended Stay Vanderbilt employees had been a little more accommodating this review would not have been so negative; a little kindness...
Read moreExcellent location, close to Vanderbilt and downtown Nashville including Broadway. I have stayed at other ESAs in the area and this location far exceeds the other ones, especially the Airport properties. The rooms are spacious and clean. The TV is 43 inch and the cable is good. The wifi is fast but you are limited to 6 devices unless you pay to upgrade. Usually 6 are enough for one person but not two. The front desk shines in service level. Justin is extremely professional and polite. He is willing to do just about anything to make your stay comfortable. Kyle is the weekend desk person at night and always available to assist guests. Angelina is an angel đ. She keeps the hotel quiet and makes sure the riff raff goes elsewhere. Alex is on duty quite a bit and I found out he is the Assistant manager. He has a good personality and seems to be very knowledgeable about his role. Last but not least is the GM Mandy. She will go out of her way to accommodate my needs and treats her guest like family. I recently had to extend my stay as my reservation was up. I encountered a slight inconvenience with billing due to an employee error. Most hotels will just say so sorry and don't care. Mandy took immediate action to correct the error to my full satisfaction. I have been staying here since November 2023. Because Mandy exceeds my expectations on a daily basis I have extended my reservation for one year. The housekeeping is polite and thorough which is not common in other hotels. All of these factors contribute to make the decision to stay easy. I could rent an apartment for the same amount of money. But the property is kept up immaculate by DJ and his team. Never any issues with my room and I feel safe here. I recommend you consider staying here on your next visit. The cost is significantly cheaper than the elite hotels downtown and your parking is free. The rooms cleaned and comfortable and you get free breakfast, wifi and a workout room. I call that a good...
