I started this review probably a half hour ago or so, had to leave it for a while to take a phone call. While I was finishing the review after returning from the call, the on-line app timed out and lost all of my previous comments. I had written pretty extensively about the stay and not pleased that the app cut it off without saving the previous draft. Please change this.
This hotel is in a very good location about a little over 2 miles from downtown Nashville on Broadway. The hotel has a 7:30AM to 11:30PM shuttle service which is great. Drops you at Broadway and 7th avenue. We stayed during off season, but this service would be even more valuable in high tourist seasons when parking is hard to find or very expensive in downtown Nashville.
The hotel has writers' night performances every day which is a benefit to music lovers. It's in the main level dining and bar area.
The food was very good, and we included breakfast in our reservation and was good value for the money. The staff in these areas was also excellent
We were on a 4600-mile driving trip staying at IHG hotels during most of the trip. I have also been an IHG and Holiday Inn member for longer than IHG has existed. I think going back to the 1980s or 90s. I have traveled to 35 countries staying mostly at IHG hotels or Courtyard Marriot hotels so have a fairly decent idea of what is offered at most hotels.
The Nashville hotel was the smallest room on our trip. Still comfortable but a little squeezed. It also had the smallest refrigerator and microwave oven found on the trip. This is likely not important to those flying in and staying a night, but we traveled with perishables that needed to be refrigerated on a nightly basis and was good for some restaurant leftovers as well.
The nicest room on our trip was a Candlewood in Valdosta GA. It came with a full-size refrigerator with ice maker, cook top, large microwave and lots of space in a well-appointed room.
Parking was not included in our basic reservation. IHG members should be sure to click on the Parking Available link to find the cost is $14 per night additional. This is pretty standard for the area and not awful, but I noted they had lots of parking spaces available and any person that wished to steal or do harm to vehicles could still simply walk through the down bar at the entrance or exit to gain access to vehicles. The parking lot was well lit and we had no problem, but I see the $14 additional as a way to hold down the room cost slightly in the booking phase.
Overall, we would recommend this hotel. It is an excellent location and has a restaurant, bar, coffee bar, and other amenities that travelers would appreciate. All staff were...
Read moreMe and my husband stayed from 9/15 to 9/19 and overall the hotel was nice but I felt like we got kinda screwed with our room. I booked it thinking we would be able to enjoy a balcony since we love sitting out on hotel balconies but our room was one of the very few that didn’t have a door to the balcony and instead we had a window that could only open a few inches. Not sure if it was all the rooms on the 2nd floor but our room was 225 and there is no access to the balcony. We did ask to switch rooms if possible but the hotel was booked that week so we weren’t able to change rooms- I understand that just wish if we didn’t get everything that is supposed to be included with the room they would give use something in return. Also, on 9/16 we heard a bubbling noise from the bathroom just to see a blackish liquid in the sink that made the whole bathroom smell like sewage. They did have that fixed in about an hour luckily and the maintenance man also fixed the outlets that weren’t working in our room as well. Just seems like we got the crappiest room for the same price as a regular room so that annoyed me since me and my husband enjoy staying in the room a lot during our trips. The front desk people were nice and helped us but we were not given our breakfast vouchers at check in so when we went to get breakfast we were confused at first how that worked but that was resolved and we were able to get the vouchers later- so just make sure that you ask about it if you don’t receive those at check in. Breakfast was delicious and the staff in the restaurant is very friendly and the live music was great during dinner. Hotel staff was great.
Update: The general manager reached out to us the day after I left the review above. He went above and beyond to correct the issues that we had experienced and we will even be returning at some point in the future because really the level of customer service is amazing here and we really do appreciate the help...
Read moreThe front desk staff were generally very friendly and helpful and the cafe in the lobby is good for a quick breakfast. It's also very convenient and easy to use the hotel shuttle, and the drivers were great. However, upon check-out I was told there would be a convenience charge of $21.85 added to my card for the "free" shuttle service and waters placed in my room. There were no waters in my room, and no one told me at check-in (or on the third-party website I used to book) that I would be charged a convenience fee. The front desk agent said she would remove the charge, but it still appeared on my card.
But the main issue is that there was food and candy on the floor underneath the pull-out desk and the arm chair next to the bed. The cleaning staff obviously did not pull them out to clean, and whatever they were using just pushed the pieces to the back. On the morning we checked out, there were two cleaning carts on our floor that were messy and unorganized, like supplies are just thrown on them- not a good image. But the main thing is that neither cart had vacuums, there were no spots where a vacuum would fit, and no one was using vacuums in the open rooms on our floor. They only contained a push broom and what looks like an oversized tape roller for lint with a broom handle. The front desk agent called the housekeeping manager to ask if the rooms were vacuumed when cleaned. The manager said there were vacuums on the backs of the carts and didn't specifically answer the question of whether or not the rooms are vacuumed. I went back upstairs and took pictures from every angle; there were no vacuum cleaners and no spaces on the carts to hold them; the backside is flat. It's disgusting that the carpets are not vacuumed, and on top of that the cleaning staff is not even thorough, and I would not stay here again specifically for...
