Very good food at a good price.
First off, the restaurant picture on Google is not correct - the restaurant is a far more cosy, darker affair with fitting music. It doesn't look at that much from the front but we were comfortable and it was clean. The servers were lovely and friendly too helping us through the menu.
Second, the food was great. The menu was a little reduced as it was a Sunday and there were a number of things they had run out of (a lot of takeaway meals were prepared whilst we were there). Nonetheless we both found something to order. All traditional Senegalese dishes with various meats or fish. I had chicken skewers which were flavoured beautifully, accompanied by some Vermicelli and fried plantain. My partner had a grilled fish.
Overall it all tasted great and we paid about 40 dollars in total which is very good value for the portion - neither of us finished and we eat a lot! Cash or card, however, make sure you have both (there are a few signs that warn you to!) Would...
Read moreA must try in the heart of the Bronx. Was in NY for a week, looking for a nice West African restaurant and searched on Google and Found a place in the Bronx named Chez Asta. Went to the address but couldn't find such place. Called number and turns out the place just changed the name to Chez Jacob. Same address same everything. The food is as authentic as it comes and tasty and pretty cheap compared to the quality you receive. I saw a mention of customer service, it is true it's not your typical customer service where they try to anticipate your needs so don't be afraid to just raise your hand and get the attention of the cashier/waitress working and she will oblige. They are otherwise very nice people and the ambience is on point. Take that trip to Senegal with your palate, sens of smell and hearing. Don't forget to try their homemade drinks, one made with ginger root juiced, or the other made with Hibiscus flower (red) infusion. Both served cold. A must try in the heart...
Read more"C'est Bon" is the name of this dish, how ironic! "C'est pas bon" would be more appropriate. The French translation is "it's good " the latter is the contrary! I have tried to be patient with this restaurant and ordered many times from them, you just never get what you pay for. They are a Russian roulette of a restaurant. NEVER AGAIN will I order from them. I have just ordered and paid for two "c bon" at $44, two orders in one place, what I received is a joke: 1 medium sized plate of white rice, two medium fried fishes, and tiny containers of mixed onion marinade along with sauces. This not only is highway robbery of the highest kind, but it is also Haram. When I called to complain, the guy who pick up simply responded that; I was not the only one who unhappy about this. The ONE STAR I gave them is quite generous to say the very least. This is not the first time this has happened. I rather take my...
