MAPS Modeling Studio — Local services in New York

I arrived 15 minutes early to my appointment at 9:30, I was the first person there and the last to leave. 4 or 5 people arrived after me (some of which were scheduled to come in at 11:00) and were able to complete the process and leave before me even when I had kept saying how I had to be at work at a certain time. They did not care at all. And I wasn't taking my sweet time getting dressed or moving any slower than these people, they would just spend more time on others. Like it took more time for my hair and makeup lady to curl this woman's entire head of hair than it took for her to just pin mine up. The lady that did my hair and makeup was rude and I absolutely HATED the way she did my makeup. I looked like James Charles. If that's your style that's fine but personally- I don't want to look like a caked up mess with uneven lipstick and bushy eyebrows. The makeup wasn't even the only problem, I also HATED the way she did my hair. For every single outfit. I would have looked better if I did my own hair and makeup and went in like that. I spent half- if not MOST of the time just sitting on the couch waiting for her to finish hair or makeup on a different person, and she would do normal things for them! Like just curling that one woman's hair. I spent about 10 minutes in the bathroom after the last shoot just scrubbing the makeup off my face and soaking the product out of my hair because I was genuinely embarrassed. I looked so bad. Only posting the pictures with the review so you can see what I am talking about. My friends and family will hopefully never see these. When I was finally able to go view my images the woman was extremely pushy with buying but I get that, it's a business. They're just trying to make money so I understand that, but to a certain extent! We had also told her also that we were in a rush to get home and she did not care and continued off topic conversation about the Kardashians, J-Lo, Scarlet Johansson and all these actresses that started off small. I only liked 3-4 images out of the 40 that she had of me and when I asked if I could buy 2-4 she asked me why I would ever just buy 2 or 4. I said because those are the only ones I liked and she went on to say how we are the hardest critics on ourselves. No... the pictures were just genuinely bad. I also asked her if I would be refunded my deposit and she didn't even want to give me a refund when it is promised that as long as you show up to the shoot, you will be refunded the deposit. She never refunded me. She said she will keep the money and it will go towards if I change my mind and decide to buy any pictures. I said I didn't want to buy any and she kept insisting on doing a payment plan for the biggest package possible, talking about credit cards and paying 400 today but we wouldn't be given any of the images until it was paid in full (attached an image of their pricing too!) Total waste of time and money as well to even get to the studio. The only kind person the entire time I was there was the photographer, I'm not sure of her name but she was a young asian woman. She was sweet and made small talk by asking where i was from. All my hair and makeup lady talked about was the Kardashians, and she cursed a lot during the whole thing. not worth the time or money spent. while all the staff was very friendly, i hated my makeup and photos. i looked nothing like myself. photographer was my favorite part of this entire experience and i checked out their instagram after the fact so i know they are capable of taking beautiful photos, but the photos i received were nothing like the ones posted on the companies instagram. this is not to discredit the work of the photographer whatsoever as i said he takes beautiful photos so i’m not quite sure where the disconnect was. anyways, after the photos were taken, i talked to a very pushy lady trying to sell me 6 photos for $400. not friendly in the slightest and ended up telling me if i didn’t give her money my photos would be deleted on the spot. i felt very pressured so i ended up giving her $100. when i saw what my photos were i was in shock. about 20 pictures squeezed onto ONE single page with their logo across every single one. literally the pictures were the size of my thumbnail. not only that, but the link to see the pictures expired after 3 days! so i paid $100 (not counting parking, tolls, and the gas it took to get there) spent a full day on this for photos i hated and only got to see for 3 days. AGAIN they were the size of my thumbnail with their logo plastered across the front. on top of all of this, they posted the pictures they took of me but tagged someone else! i messaged them on instagram asking them to delete the pictures as i didn’t have a good experience and didn’t like the photos, they never responded. messaged the photographer and he never responded. even commented on the posts and still no response. so coming here hoping for the bare minimum of getting my photos deleted. i normally am so patient and have never left a negative review in my life but this company is a joke. your money would be better used throwing it...

Was scouted for my child, traveled 3.5 hours to the shoot and I must say it was nothing like we imagined. The people was super kind but they was just warming you up for when you enter the chambers lol. So first and foremost the owner seen the passion and hunger we have for this industry for my child. The way she presented the photos and so many words including she would see it personal that my kiddo would have a opportunity to chase her dreams went right out the door as soon as I paid $4,000.00 for a package that I could of put together. The owner made it seem like she was going to sponsor my child and open doors, then again I’m sure that is something she is use to do with families like mine who would pay their last cent for their children’s dreams. This company are def scavengers and will take your money with no remorse, they pray on your dreams and under knowledge in the industry. We made perfect pray for Miss Amy. As soon as we left, we never heard from her again, she promised me so many things and never accepted to take my call and I called in to request to speak to her. I will be taking legal actions against this company as preying on individuals is a crime and if something is promised it should be follow through. Some family’s will ignore it and move on but I lost $4,k with this company and they did 0 for my child’s career. She made it clear that it was not a booking agency but she made it clear that she would use her influences in the business to get my child an opportunity. Beware of these con artist before is too late and you find yourself in my situated out of thousands of dollars and a little girl who’s dreams have been downsized as ever since this happen she die not believe in herself and they pretty much shattered her dreams of...
