I canāt believe Iām taking the time to write this review on a vacation, but I am shaking because I am so upset with how we have been treated the last three nights here. Our family comes to New York at least once a year and we stay in a lot of different hotels for different experiences and locations. We always stay at Marriottās and I recently became a Vacation club owner. We have stayed at a lot of different properties in the United States and a few internationally and they have all been wonderful. The New York City pulse treated me like I was a piece of trash off the street. I have actually been in tears twice since coming here. The way the staff has lied to me and spoken to me, You would think I was a criminal. I am incredibly uncomfortable here and as I sit here on my last evening writing this review I hope I can spare anyone else from the terrible experience here. There are thousands of hotels in New York City and if youāre a Marriott girl like me⦠You have your choice of different Marriotts ⦠Please stay away from this one. They really need to train their staff on how to properly speak to paying customers. My last interaction was with a girl named Bethany, who would not let me speak, kept speaking over me, told me that the hotel was at full capacity, and she could not accommodate any sort of late check out, while I was still speaking she hung up on me. I then had to call back and asked to speak to her colleague who was magically able to extend my check out for an hour or two. Funny enough, I had to tell her that they werenāt at full capacity because I went on my Marriott Bonvoy account and was able to reserve three different rooms. This is just one example⦠I will admit there was some of the staff that was very nice here and all of the cleaning people were very, very sweet But the front desk people here desperately needs some training on how to talk to people. I probably stay in at least 10 different hotels a year and I have never been spoken to like this, and I have certainly never ended up in tears⦠You need to get your act together NYC Pulse. You are truly making me regret my decision on becoming a Marriot Vacation club owner. For reference, I am also Platinum Elite Marriott Bonvoy. My son is 8 years old and he was even shocked at this interaction because Even at eight years old, he is smart enough to know that is not how you treat people.
I am now editing this because I am reading some of the other one star reviews and I cannot believe how many complaints there are about the rude front desk staff. I also had a bad interaction with Carter. Very rude and a lot of huffing and puffing for even asking him a simple question. I thought I was just in a really bad room and had drunk people next-door to me, but I am now finding out that the walls are just really paper thin⦠There were very late night guest next to me, but the doors were so close together that it woke me up because I thought someone was breaking into my room and it was incredibly scary but now Iām understanding that they give earplugs Because maybe everybody else has this experience also. Wow, I really cannot believe how bad this hotel is⦠Please please please do your research and book somewhere else because there are just so many excellent choices in New York City⦠I could rattle off 10 other hotels Iāve stayed at that have been absolutely amazing and they are all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just got back from a week's stay at the Marriott Vacation Club Pulse in New York City. Amazing location with friendly, and helpful staff. (I have seen some of the reviews from others about the staff being rude, we didn't encounter anything like this. ) We would stay here again on our next visit to NYC.||1.) Warning, the rooms are small. Not a typical Vacation Club villa, but it was sufficient for the two of us. The bed and the pillows were comfy. Your option if you want the room serviced.||2.) The staff was exceptional, friendly and helpful. We took the free walking tours. They are about an hour and a half long. The tour guides, Hector and Bridgette, were invaluable. The insight of their knowledge of the city was very helpful, and entertaining and helped us immensely in learning how to navigate the city and use the subway. The tours included Brooklyn Heights, the Brooklyn Bridge, SoHo, Little Italy & Chinatown, 9-11 Memorial, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, Greenwich Village, and a few other places, I do not remember, These are free, but a gratuity is appreciated. They were both funny and friendly and put us at ease in the Big Apple. If you are visiting during the Holidays, there is a tour of the holiday lights. (@Marriott these two are keepers!) ||3.) In the afternoons at 3:00, there were free food options. Sandwiches from Katz, Pizza, Candy Snacks, and another cheesecake. These were snack sizes, but no restrictions to just one, and a nice treat for the afternoon.||4.) There is a very nice deli, Cafe 37, that is within walking mins of the Pulse. We went there in the mornings for a coffee and bagel before our tours. It was very convenient. I wish we would have been able to check out their lunch items, but we were never back at the hotel by then and they close at 4:00. I would recommend this place for a quick bite. There is just a plethora of eateries within a 5 to 10-minute walk of the hotel.||5.) The Pulse is within walking distance of Bryant Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, New York City Library, MoMa, and Grand Central Station. Bring your walking shoes!||6.) This is a very nice rooftop bar with views of the Empire State Building. On the weekends, there is live music. Some snack items are available here to accompany your libations.||6.) Finally, We flew into JFK, ( I understand La Guardia is actually closer.. ) and took a taxi there. We used the Black Car service to return to the airport for our departure. The costs were the same. I recommend the Black Car service. They were great and much nicer. You will save a few dollars if you can pay in cash.||That's about it. I couldn't recommend The Pulse more. Interestingly enough, just a few doors down was a Marriott Fairfield & Town Suites on 37th Street. The Pulse kept with Marriotts Vacation Club branding of quality. We can't wait to come back for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my second time staying at this hotel. The first time was fantastic! No issues or problems. The second time around, not so much. Check-in was great and I was able to go straight to my room. The room was clean and spacious to my satisfaction and had an Empire State Building view - but very thin walls. It was a bit cold that evening and so I attempted to turn the heat on only for it to blow out cold air. Later on that evening, I spoke with the front desk and told them that the heating system wasnāt working properly. They immediately noted it on my reservation and stated that someone would come to fix it the next morning. They offered extra blankets as well. I offered to take the extra blanket up to the room, but was told that someone would come and drop it off. Well, after waiting for the extra blanket, no one arrived that night nor did they fix the heat the next day. As a returning customer and a Marriott card holder, most places go above and beyond for all members. Unfortunately, on this stay, this was not the case. They have 11am check out and my departure time wasnāt until later that afternoon. I requested a late check out the night before and was given an extra hour and was told by the front desk that I could call the next morning to extend the late check out. I called the next morning to extend the late check out via another front desk worker and was told that I could only have an 11:30am check out...how? When I already requested a 12noon and was told to call to extend it to a later time the next day. After explaining this to the front desk who obviously didnāt pay attention to the previous request, she decided to leave it at 12. I told her as a Marriott card member that it says that I have late check out as late as 2pm. She then said that they donāt follow Marriott bonvoy cc rules since they are a vacation club...prior to telling her that, I ran into the housekeeper for our floor and notified her of us checking out at 2pm and she said ok and to just put the privacy on so that no one would disturb us prior to checking out. After she saw us grab our bags prior to 2pm she then questioned why we were leaving earlier and I politely stated that we werenāt granted a 2pm check out. She seemed surprised....as was I....at that moment, it made me aware that others have been given the opportunity to request later check out times. This may not seem like a big deal, but overall, as a returning guest, I didnāt feel fully accommodated. So many employees telling me different things which was very unfortunate with the lack of follow through. I know this hotel is capable because it was proven to me on my last visit. Besides the let downs, the location is great and I heard the rooftop bar is...
