Read moreI am seldomly blown away by a coffee shop, as I only ever order a cold brew or a black americano. What do you want from me though? Get milk, or worse, a milk alternative in my coffee? It wasn't long ago when my Croatian ancestors had their backs to the Adriatic Sea with a black coffee and cigarette in the left hand and a pickaxe in the right hand ready to storm the battlefield and fight to the death for their independence. What kind of man would I be to get my coffee with oat milk with this blood running through my veins smh. Don't even get me started on my Mexican Heritage.......
All this to say Culture Espresso is one of the FEW coffee shops to have blown me away.
I ordered a hot americano with a cup of ice on the side. My big homie Millan asked, like you are likely wondering, "Why the cup of ice?"
THE CUP OF ICE BECAUSE I WANT TO DRINK MY COFFEE RIGHT WHEN IT COMES BUT IT WOULD TORCH THE WHOLE INTERIOR OF MY ORAL CAVITY, SO I JUST DROP A FEW ICE CUBES IN TO MAKE IT HOT, YET DRINKABLE. Sorry, my dear reader, my fuse is a bit short rn as we lost our men's league basketball game last night on the last possession. Pain. But to appreciate the sun you gotta know what rain is…
Anyways, this was legit the best americano I've had in nyc. It made me feel as though I am at a cafe in Cinque Terre where I can smell the fresh espresso being ground in the back, as I order an espresso doble with the cute Northern Italian employee lives in Milan but comes to Cinque Terre to work for the summer because of the busy season. Wait.... y'all are still going to Positano!?!?!? Couldn’t be me!! (LeBron laughing emojis)
I'm not a cookie guy, but my big homie Millan got one as he pointed to the sign that said "Award Winning Cookies." I took a bite as to be polite, since he is the big homie after all, and THEY REALLY NOT LYING ON THAT SIGN THAT COOKIE WAS MF HEEAAAAATTTTT!! Wow. It was spiritual. And again, I don't even like cookies like that.
Millan said the article he is doing on me and my borderline deranged reviews comes out next week, so I am a bit nervous to see what that will be like but my Croatian ancestors had it way worse. How could I ever complain? I think I will come to Culture to get one half of my coffee and cigarette combination to calm the nerves before I read it.
THANK YOU CULTURE! THANK YOU CUP OF ICE ON THE SIDE YOU THE REAL MVP!

I don't normally post reviews but I had to on this one.
First of all let me just say that I love Culture, my mom and I always go when she is in town and its also her favorite cafe and must go-to in the city. Culture's cookies are really delicious and their coffee is also great, so I really recommend the place.
I am giving a low rating because of the non-responsiveness of the cafe when I received a mouldy muffin. I was really excited to try out their muffin as well. Bought it in the afternoon and popped it in the fridge right away since I live next door so I could eat it the next day. Took a bite into it, tasted something funny, and realized that the fruit in the muffin was quite mouldy.
I called in and the lady was somewhat unapologetic, immediately saying they get their muffins from somewhere else. That's fine, so I ask for the name of the place only to not find any contact or address online. So I call again and she gives me an email to write to, I sent pictures and kindly asked for the contact or any help on how to solve this issue.
It's now going into the 3rd day and still no response. Culture was my favorite cafe and I'm sad to having to write this kind of review for them. I definitely would have been more upset and disappointed if I hadn't found out early on into eating it.
I'm not saying don't go, please do because their cookies and coffee are delicious. But I do want to say that their responsiveness to these kinds of situation was very surprising for an F&B...
