As far as shelters in NYC go this place does some good work. They not only helped me find housing, but they assisted me in stabilizing my mental health. The staff show a great deal of compassion in assisting the residents in their housing and mental health situations. If not for the staff at this facility I would not be in the position that I’m in today. I received a great deal of encouragement from both Peter Henry and Kimona Heath, two staff members that work there and they helped me get from point A to point housing. Be aware though, this is a shelter. People will fight and argue and the food is atrocious. Your best bet is to use your food stamps to buy your own meals and the avoid confrontation when you’re staying here. Best of luck to whomever goes here...
