What a hotel. We stayed in this hotel twice before as a couple but this was our first time as a family of four and I can say it’s honestly gotten even better.||From the moment we checked in until the minute we left all of the staff we met were warm, welcoming, attentive and polite to our family. Gave teddy bears to our children, asked about our plans for the day and even made suggestions on where to visit. Everyone from the room cleaners, bar staff and front desk were superb.||The building is old but filled with charm, the lobby is beautiful and while the elevators are a bit old and slow they too are beautifully decorated with marble floors. It feels like a proper old world manhattan hotel.||The rooms were very clean and surprisingly modern for an older building, the bathrooms seem to have been updated recently enough and rooms came with modern steamers for clothes instead of irons. Returning to this hotel after a long day in the city felt comforting. The bar felt like a proper Irish pub and we found ourselves returning to it time and time again.||The absolute highlight however came when we left our child’s favourite toy at the hotel when we were on our way to the airport. The manager arranged a Taxi to pick it up and have it delivered to Newark even including some extra teddy bears and crisps for the kids. He went well beyond what he had too to rectify the situation.||It’s little touches like this that makes the Fitzpatrick our first choice. Honestly the hotel punches well above its weight in terms of price when it comes to service. It’s also in an excellent location to explore the city. ||I don’t think we will ever consider staying anywhere else in New York other than the Fitzpatrick. Well managed and well maintained it’s an absolutely little...
Read moreHad an amazing stay here a few years ago, but this hotel has changed completely since then. This was literally the worst hotel stay of my life. I was in town for cancer treatment. A family in a neighboring room recorded a private phone conversation (not legal) and took it to manager to say I was loud. Earlier, I overheard the parents telling the children (who a few hours earlier were screaming and chasing one another in the hallways and I almost fell over them) they wanted to see what they could get for free. My room had a ton of construction noise and the manager refused to move me or provide earplugs. Later that evening, I went down to ask to leave due the the unbearable noise. In the end they gave me a louder room with flight attendants who were up all night pounding up above. The next day the night time woman was still there and she told the other front desk that I had given the family a 25% discount, but when I saw what she looked like I made it 50!" They laughed and ridiculed my appearance. Another employee had a recoding on his phone playing that sounded like me talking, and when I asked about this upon leaving I might as well have been in the Bronx because the other front desk woman starting dpeaking to me as if I was in a inner city movie about to be beaten up As I was getting up she changed her face and bust out laughing at me, like highschool kid. This was the worst treatment of my life and they put reports about me into the computer system and another database. CANCER PATIENTS DO NOT STAY HERE!! They should be ashamed of their...
