I don't like to write reviews like this, but I feel that it's necessary to help others make informed decisions. I will try to be as fair as possible, but the overall experience was not the best that NYC or Hilton has to offer. Service was fine, the hotel is ok. The location in Midtown East is good if you are there for events in that area. My problem was with the rooms. Not even that they are smaller, because you expect that in NYC. I was traveling solo, so it was fine, but I don't think it would have worked if my husband was also there. The biggest problem was the comforter. I didn't notice this the first night as it was late when I got into bed, but the next day when the comforter was backlit with light, I was extremely disturbed (to the point that I became a little nauseous). There were red blobs and spots all throughout the comforter that looked like blood or some other kind of stain. Of course, I took photos and immediately showed them to the front desk. I was later informed that this is just normal "washing wear" for down comforters, although, I can tell you in my experience, I've never had a down comforter that has looked like this. I showed the photos and consulted with some friends who also were disturbed and said they had not seen this before. If true that this is normal, shame on Hilton and Tapestry Collection for continuing to use such old and degraded sheets and still charging $500+ a night. I expect much better for that price and level of 4 star hotel. This bedding is extremely unacceptable. There's a reason I chose to stay here and not at a cheaper hotel, but I was duped because the quality of bedding is far inferior to anything I've experienced at that price point. And frankly, disgusting to look at. Therefore, I will not be staying at this hotel again. It was not a 4 star experience or worth the price I paid, and it's a shame that Hilton uses such cheap bedding in their higher-end hotels. I will be looking for other hotel companies in the future, especially in NYC. I've included photos here. While the whole experience was not "terrible," I never really felt clean sleeping in the bed.

Oh my where do I begin....... The front desk staff were great on check in and check out. I had Andre (excuse me if I mess up the spelling of names) check me in and he upgraded me to a king room. That room did not meet expectations due to housekeeping issues. I said I would gladly accept my original reservation of a queen room. Maintenance and housekeeping is why 3 stars were lost on this review. They are the unseen and soul of a hotel. They take care of the room and are the people the front desk relies on to keep guests happy. The front desk staff take the blame from a guest if something in the room is wrong because they are the ones guests interact with. The toilet paper holder was off (crooked) and it seems like the floors just attract dust and hair (think laminate type flooring.) The towels were terrible. I understand they are a level above standard towels but whoever does the laundering of the towels need to try again. In both room I was in the towels ruined the experience. Long hair and dirty stains is not what one expects on something that will touch your face/body The furniture could also use a refresh. The bed frame in the first room showed a lot of wear and tear. As a previous reviewer mentioned...like beat up Ikea furniture. Room size didn't effect me since I was not on an extended stay and I was solo. I would say the room is of average size for NYC. The bathroom had a heated floor and that was a nice touch. The sink was slow to drain unfortunately. I should travel with drain cleaner just so water drains when I wash my hands. It seems like an issue at many hotels. The bed was comfortable and sheets were clean and soft. No visible tears or stains anywhere there. Pillows were good also. I woke up before my alarm refreshed. I personally wouldn't stay at this hotel again. I wanted to give it a try to see how it was compared to the Conrad and found it lacking compared to that hotel. Enjoy some photos! (I may be one of the weird ones...but the photos were taken right before I checked out. I just can't wake up and not make a bed or do some quick cleaning.)

Disappointing Stay – Not Up to Hilton Standards While there were a few positives, our overall experience at The Bernic was disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel. As Hilton Honors members, we were drawn in by the “Tapestry Collection” branding, expecting something distinctive or thoughtfully curated. Unfortunately, that was not the case — what we encountered instead was poor service, indifferent staff, and several frustrating moments. One of the most surprising issues? A simple cup of ice. After a long, hot day, my husband and I just wanted some ice for our water (which the hotel sells for 3.00$ per bottle). We asked the front desk, who said they’d ask the bar. The bar refused. The front desk then insisted we return to our room so they could send ice up, which we reluctantly agreed to — but no one ever came. I called multiple times and received no response. Eventually, I had to escalate to a manager (Brittany), who was helpful — but it shouldn't take that much effort for something so basic. Check-in was also frustrating. We arrived one hour early and were told our room was ready — but if we wanted to check in right then, we’d have to pay an extra $35. It made no sense and felt like an unnecessary fee, especially considering the room was available. When we asked the front desk for local transportation tips, we got nothing helpful — just a dismissive “Google it.” Throughout our stay, we got the sense that most of the staff (Brittany being the exception) just weren’t interested in helping guests. The level of service fell far below expectations. Cleanliness was another issue. The rooftop seating area had the same dirty dishes sitting out for days — including a bowl of soup that was left to bake in the sun. It was off-putting and gave the impression that upkeep simply wasn’t a priority. On the positive side, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and Brittany at the front desk truly stood out for her professionalism and care. However, the loud air conditioner and lackluster service across the board overshadowed those small comforts. Overall, The Bernic did not meet the standards we associate with the Hilton name. With a few changes in attitude and attention to detail, it could be a decent property — but as it stands now, we left...
