Terrible. So I recently placed my first online order with this company and I am not impressed. After placing my order they contacted me stating they require me to send them a copy of my credit card statement and photgraphic ID. Maybe this is standard practise for them when customers live abroad. But to me this is so close to Phishing and dodgy dangerous practise its just not funny.
I am not impressed, why would i give them photo id and a credit card statement so they could accept my $50 order. If you want secure orders get signed up with the credit companies for "verify by codes". Im not sure of the legality of this request in the US but I for one am not stupid enough to give this much information to purchase a few comics.
This practise screams fraud to me. No other American company has ever tried to do this when I order from them. Very dodgy, are the trying to steal my details to defraud me. Or is it simply that they dont have the know how to do this in the correct way through legitimate channels setup by the banks. I gave them the details of who my credit card company was, so they could contact the credit card company if the wished to check my account was ok. They were not interested and only wanted my ID and credit card statements.
Alternatively they could just ban credit cards and insist on paypal for international customers, tho why they think this is more secure im not sure.

Read moreWent for the first time to get my comics sent for grading through midtown comics grand central today and the process was painful to say the least. As someone unfamiliar with the process I had assumed they would be helpful regarding any questions and instead I was met with instant hostility. I was honestly taken aback by the rudeness and you could tell there was a tense feeling in the air for both customers and seemingly the other staff member on hand. Didnt catch the name but the man was tall, had glasses and tattoos on his forearms, and was seemingly the only one able to provide help regarding cgc services sadly. I ended up not even submitting everything I wanted because I wanted to get out asap. I went to the other midtown comics in times square and pretty much had the opposite experience. The staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous to the fact I am a novice getting into comics. Went online to see if there were any other negative reviews and there seem to be a fair amount but the store simply replies "That doesnt happen! We are nice!" Maybe the other locations are nice and friendly but not grand central store (Save for 1 blonde gentleman who was not there today). I am giving the store a 3 because despite the rude behavior they do have a decent selection of comics and back issues on hand. Only go here if the other locations...
Read moreFirst off, the gentleman I spoke to behind the counter today was very friendly and helpful. He was great and I wish I had caught his name to help him be recognized for his excellent customer service. (I didn't interact with the young woman at the counter as she was assisting someone else, but she did appear to be very patient and friendly with the indecisive boy she was ringing out.) Unfortunately, he was the only person to offer me customer service and nearly the only person to even acknowledge that I was there. Given that I run a comic shop of my own in another city, its pretty annoying to see a store with twice the staff and still not be helpful. While a friend and I were looking at the statues in the back, we noticed one Batman statue that appeared to have a fabric cape and (yes, I know there are no touching signs) my friend went to lightly touch the cape to see if it was in fact fabric. Upon barely making contact, the nearby employee who had previously been too involved in talking to what appeared to be a friend, snotily said "yeah, don't touch that." It took everything in me not to respond "oh you CAN see us!" This would've been a 1 star review. The 2nd star is for the excellent selection. The 3rd is for the friendly service I finally received at...
