The staff were incredibly rude and arrogant from the moment we arrived. We were told that making a reservation wasn’t possible — despite the fact that several tables clearly had “reserved” signs on them. When I asked why, the waitress told me they could only take a reservation if we were planning to “spend $500.”
We ended up sitting down, but within five minutes, three different staff members came to our table to pressure us into ordering - as if they were rushing us out. It made the entire experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
The worst part came at the end: I asked for a receipt that reflected our actual consumption, and the owner got aggressive. He physically touched me during the discussion and told me he couldn’t give me a receipt because it would “take too much time to split it” - which is absurd. After 15 minutes of arguing and telling him I wouldn’t pay without a proper receipt, and that I would call the police, he magically managed to print it - meaning he could’ve done so from the beginning.
Absolutely unacceptable behavior. This is not how you run a restaurant. I strongly suggest the owner and staff take a course in hospitality and basic customer service - or maybe...
Read moreI was initially really excited to see that The Perfect Pint was opening up an East Midtown location. However, after going there, I realize either they have some work to do, or it's not really my style.
They have a lot of beers on draft, which is nice. However, the selection is really uninspired. Nearly all the selections were from large brewhouses. The only nod to local flavor was Brooklyn Lager, and when they rang it up, it was listed as an import.
The menu is also pretty upscale for a pub. I ordered the caesar salad, which was one of their cheapest options, and it was eleven bucks. Plus, they brought it out with chicken. The chicken looked (and tasted) good, so I didn't send it back, but I was still kind of disappointed by it.
They have ample TVs, so catching whatever soccer game might be going on during the day (they were playing Setanta's reply of the Carling Cup game where Derby upset Man U, which was cool, despite it only being on one TV at the back of the bar) won't be difficult.
However, without any cheap-ish lunch options, I'm going to stick to one of the cheaper beer bars in area when the...

Me and my family walk in 10pm on a Wednesday when the place is almost entirely empty and order 4 beers and tried to leave within 30-40 minutes. Our waiter (picture attached) came to us once to take our order and to give us the bill (after we asked for it 3 times). We tipped $5 because he just handed us a beer and walked away and we didn’t like the service.
He later comes to us and starts angrily yelling at us about how the suggested tip is what we should follow and that what we tipped is “unacceptable.” Then goes on a speech about how tipping works and asks us “where are you from? “ in the most condescending and racist way. We’re all from New York City, so not sure what he was trying to accomplish. He then walks away angry going “it would be best if you stayed home” and starts talking about us loudly to other waiters and other people at the bar. It was so unbelievable.
We are 4 brown people, I doubt he would have talked to us that way in another scenario. Absolutely disgusting and racist behavior. Ive never been talked to this way my entire life...
