A place I consider home, in such a short period of time, the Bodhi Meditation Center has become one of my favorite places to be. Between the unmatched hospitality (a fully displayed tea station at all times, free, delicious, variegated vegetarian foods, fresh straight-off-the-tree fruit provided by our loving members, slippers to wear around the facility, a fully stocked and fully clean bathroom at all times, and someone always available to greet you at the front desk), and the paradigm-shifting dharma teachings that guarantee a life of auspiciousness, it is safe to say that I have fallen in love. First of all, the space, the energy, vibe, feng shui, you name it, is so bright and uplifting. Our teachers and facilitators wear crisp, clean, robes made of the finest material. And everyone is so loving and kind. It was only 2 months ago, that I discovered BMNY, while attending their Health and Vitality Carnival with my baby sisters. I was drawn to the name, as I too desire a life of health and vitality. How could I not be happy in a place where I received countless blessings and well wishes everywhere I looked. The energy is positive and uplifting, the food delicious. Two retreats later, having just finished the Health & Happiness Retreat (8 day) on 10/12, my heart is so full with the desire to love. It is truly an inspiring experience. Having an open mind is the best way to get the most out of life. The meditation exercises were extremely powerful, reconnecting me as an artist back to visualization and my own body. Not to mention I thoroughly enjoy all of the mobility exercises, and everything in between that keeps me both relaxed in the mind, but active in the body all at once. Long story short, it's amazing. I am 27 and I now have an 86 year old best friend from Singapore. Kitty Kam is so fun. I love everyone there. They have amazing personalities. Kristen has been my fairy god mother since I first walked in. And Catherine always makes sure I'm on time and accounted for. Doris inspires me so much as a powerful teacher and woman. Energy healings are so fun and amazing. It's really cool to watch. I discovered that I sing beautifully here. And everyone's stories are so fun to hear. They're really amazing people. Shoutout the translators, and the slide presentors, the volunteers, the masters behind the kitchen, the teachers, our members, sponsors and of course Grand Master Bodhi. With the utmost love to all
Read moreThe Bodhi Meditation Center offers a one-of-a-kind practice created by the Grandmaster JinBodhi, and I'm so happy and grateful that I found it! The three-year pandemic took a toll on my health. Two friends recommended taking the seven-day chanting retreat in August 2021. The retreat changed my life. I lost more than ten pound weight, slept better, felt more energetic, and improved skin condition. Since then I have taken two more chanting retreats which have continued to improve my body and mind. I gained insights to important life lessons and started to look at my life from a new perspective. As a result, I have a better relationship with my family, friends, and the people around me. I also discovered a refreshed approach to my work. Recently, I started to practice Energy Bagua taught by the center in Central Park every morning at 7am with a group of practitioners. It is easy to learn and practice, yet offers a deep and profound experience on body and mind. At the center, I met a lot of kind people who have received great help for various issues and then given back through their volunteering services. This is another great revelation I learned here--serving the community is the integral part of practice. Only through serving, one gets to the higher level of body and mind. Teaching how to live a healthy life in both body and mind and emphasize on serving is what makes the center truly unique.
Logistics-wise, the center is easy to access from the #7 train and LIRR train (Flushing Main Street stop which is the next stop from the Mets/US Open stadiums). If the practices are through lunch time, the volunteers prepare nice vegetarian lunch. The staff members are kind and friendly. Classes are offered in both Chinese and English. The head teacher, Mr. Guanshan is a seasoned practitioner with deep knowledges and years of experiences, and it is really not easy to meet such a skilled teacher who can instantaneously identify the problems a practitioner may have and guide him/her to the right path. Right now, the seven-day Energy Bagua class is offered for free. After graduating from the class, students can not only practice it at the center, but also find several parks in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens to practice with fellow...
