Went here two nights ago (10/27/19) and must say it was at best a fair experience. Firstly, the wine list had not been updated and a wine I ordered (at 185.00 a bottle) was brought to the table but the year did not match the year on the wine list. One thing I know is my Santorini wine and I asked the waiter if he could either bring the wine on the wine list or offer this one at a slightly less price as it is not as good as the wine that was on the wine list. The waiter, who was very polite to be sure, brought over a very abrasive, brusque, obstreperous individual who never even introduced himself(sommelier? head waiter?? Owner ???) who brushed me off when I asked for a lowering of the price for the wine(a mere 10(ten) dollars I requested, mind you) and pontificated "I'll make it up to you with a million dollars of dessert". Alright, I'm already wishing I had gone to Milos on 55th. The orders came in a timely fashion but no one had honored my request that the fish be brought to the table whole. Instead, it was brought to the table and had already been carved up somewhere on the other side of the restaurant. Problem x 2. Firstly, all the fun of seeing the fish dressed out in front of the table was bypassed. Secondly, my favorite part of any fish are the muscles that extend up into the head(and YES, I eat the eyes!!), but this part of the fish was never brought to the table. TERRIBLE!!. Finally, that "million dollars" which had been promised would be made up to me at dessert amounted to some past its prime watermelon slices and grapes with wrinkles that had the taste of stagnant water. And so at the end of the day I'm left wondering, was it really that important to say "I WON" and didn't give an inch to a knowledgeable patron who had made a reasonable request?? Should the staff be more alert to diner's simple request?. Perhaps the answers to these questions is the reason the restaurant was largely empty. This crew should unequivocally study more carefully a restaurant like Milos( which I've been to many, many times and frankly is my favorite seafood restaurant in Manhattan)) as this would certainly make a diner wish to return which I can honestly say I never will. Ironically, a very knowledgeable friend of mine told me Limani is closely connected to Milos. If so, what a shame they've made no effort to uphold the professionalism...
Read moreMy sister recommended this restaurant so my friends and I made reservations to check it out. Very disappointed at the service we received last night. My friends and I were in complete shock! For an upscale restaurant you would think the waiter would introduce himself, instead…no smile, no welcome, nothing...it’s as if they didn’t even want you there. We ordered the Greek Meze and he literally threw each plate on the table aggressively and very sloppy. When he came back with the stuffed calamari instead of placing it on our table he took his tongs and slapped each calamari onto our plates. I honestly couldn't believe it. As we waited for our entrees, the Lobster pasta, and organic salmon which honestly very disappointing and lacked flavor; we asked for more bread because we had a lot of spread left from the meze, the guy just throws the basket with 3 pieces of bread and walks away. After we had the entrees, we wanted to leave without dessert because we were upset but my sister recommended their walnut sponge cake with ice cream so we decided to give it a try (which we regret). The waiter came to our table and asked if we were done and we said we'd like to see the dessert menu and he said "okay someone will be right over with the dessert menu." The next guy who came over asked if we were ready for the check instead of showing us the dessert menu and we were so offended and ready to leave after that, but my friend out of impulse asked for the dessert menu again. You can sense from the beginning they wanted us out.. So we finally received the desert menu, ordered two desserts, the (Karidopita) walnut sponge cake and Chocolatina, which honestly wasn't great. As we're picking on our dessert the guy comes and puts the check on the table. It was so embarrassing for us because you can sense this awkwardness. Management should be ashamed of themselves and I wish I took the names of the waiters. Our bill was $200 before tip (which we did tip them well especially for the horrible service). The food was not spectacular at all for an upscale restaurant, but if we at least received decent service we would have walked out okay. I will never give this place another chance after last night. I am not one to complain and I usually hold my tongue but last night was truly a...
Read moreI am so disappointed with my experience. We made reservation’s week ago for our trip to New York. We arrived and were greeted very coldly by the hostess. We were brought water and cocktails immediately so it seemed like we were in for a wonderful dining experience. We were then brought out appetizer and our entree order had already been placed. We sat for an hour with our appetizer waiting for our food, we asked our waiter the status of our meal since tables that were seated after us received their meals. They miraculously brought out food to us on scorching hot plates. My moms food was warm and mine was cold, only the plate was hot. My shrimp tasted like dirty dish water on top of being cold, also the appetizer we ordered to eat with our meal was freezing at this point since we had to wait so long. My mom simply asked what could be done about the cold food and the person we spoke with was very rude and short about it. He said they had a small kitchen and mussels (which my mom ordered) took an hour to make so that’s why my food is cold. He said he could make me a new dish and it would come out quickly even though I had to wait an hour for a cold one. After previously working in the restaurant industry it’s common practice to make the “quick dish” AFTER or when the dish that takes a long time to make is almost done so all the other food doesn’t get cold. For a place that markets itself as a high end restaurant I would think they practice these types of operations in their kitchen regardless of its size. I told them to take my dish away because we were running late to a show we had tickets to and my mom was so upset after how the man spoke to her she couldn’t eat. She tried one mussel and said it lacked flavor. So for such a terrible dining experience we paid $76 for 2 martinis, beans and bottle of water. If we would have had great service and a great meal the money wouldn’t have been an issue. However after how we were treated, and the quality of service and food, we would have been better off...
