I took a couple days to let my thoughts marinate on this. The menu pricing online is not the same as in store and the young guy behind register would not honor it. I let that go. The food was meh. I was expecting something in my mind that I did not get. I was expecting a lil more pumpkin seed pesto in addition to actually having ranch dressing on the gf warrior burger/sandwich. There is no way they could have believed that the vegan mayonnaise placed into a cup with specks of pepper could mimic the flavor of ranch. I was skeptical before tasting it because it was so thick. I was supposed to get a taste of ranch flavor. NOPE. Maybe they assumed I was new to being plant based: NOPE. Eventhough the gf warrior bread was heavily oiled, I ate it in 2 sittings throughout the night. I really needed a knife and fork to eat it. I honestly expected something better. I really tried to find the good in the meal. That didn't have a warrior vibe to it at all. Maybe the chef might be sabotaging your business. Like how did that sandwich give a warrior vibe? It could have been better. It truly was alright. That side salad was wack in presentation as well. It was just a handful of chopped lettuce and a lil kale. The guy behind counter hyped it up. Nothing special. Check your young staff, seriously. The online reviews didn't reflect what I tasted. I have had better elsewhere. I have done a better job at home and saved the family $10 less($11) extra without the overly oiled bread. I was told that I "...would be back the next day." Yeah, to talk about the unranch dressing and oiliness. Luckily, the others liked their meals a lot. Maybe I had the worst on the menu. Rare to get bad food in NYC. My last bad experience was in 2017 or 2018 in Brooklyn. Before that, maybe 5 years prior. Thankfully, I had no tummy issues with all that oil. I will never have that again. I should have tried the pizza that was ordered. I could have had something more positive to say. I removed one more star for service because of the meh side "salad" that...
Read moreWe were so excited to try the new and revamped Urban vegan kitchen, after having been to its old location and loved it entirely. Entirely. The new location , kitchen, and menu are, and possibly, a step up. The service and ambiance are cool, but welcoming. We were immediately greeted by Marquis, our new best friend, sleep who effortlessly walked us through the menu, and appeusingly noted our recognition of references to Deee-Lite. We went with his recommendation for the cheesesteak, which was epic, both in size and grandeur. The blue cheese was unlike any other vegan cheese we've ever tasted. You could trick someone with the entire cheesesteak and say that it was meat, and probably get away with it-- and this is coming from a native philadelphian-- but that bleu cheese was next level.
Onion rings? Great. Fries? Great. This is quality junk food, the kind where you're not sure if it's really good for you or really bad for you, probably both. Every dish was intentional, thoughtful, and unique. She even made the most Junior member of our party, who foreswares vegetables and fungi of every shape and size, enjoy the mushroom bacon. When one of us forgot their backpack, and I'm not saying who it was, as a parting gesture of just how caring and how complete the dining experience is, our old friend Marquis chased us down three blocks and returned the offending backpack. Truly the consummate...
Read moreOMG! This place was amazing! Food was amazing! I’m not a vegan but I’m turning my lifestyle into eating less garbage and this place is a perfect spot for beginner vegetarians and vegans. The food was amazing, I had the waffle with chicken and although the chicken was made of tofu I did like it but it didn’t really have chicken texture, which might throw someone off but I’m used to tofu so I enjoyed it. The waffle?! Was moist and so flavorful! They top it off with cooked kale and my child who hates kale actually ATE IT, from how tasteful they made it. My daughter had Mac and cheese and it actually tasted like real cheese. Couldn’t believe it’s made with cashews and no dairy is involved. I was flabbergasted!
These people are polite and helpful. The people working on the inside are even more considerate and helpful. Do not be afraid to ask for things, they wait on you politely. They have outdoor seating and always refilled our water. I want to go back and try so many more items as their meals look so appetizing in other people’s tables!
The indoors looks hip and vintage And they have a downstairs. The place was pretty clean and tidy and overall had a...
