Customer for 6+ months.
This company has exceeded every expectation I could have had. Their internet is outstanding, both faster and cheaper than any of the previous providers I’ve had anywhere I’ve lived. My 5 gb per second service actually tests at 5 gb per second, too, which you don’t get with some of the other providers. With the savings and performance there you’d expect the service to suffer, but you’d be wrong.
The initial switch to live oak, and the resulting installation, was seamless and easy to arrange. The installer that arrived was prompt, courteous, and professional and ensured I knew everything he was going to do before he did it. He also educated me on my new devices, wifi, and answered my follow up questions thoroughly.
The first interaction with live oak after the install was with a customer service rep who had reached out to me a while back to ensure I had the most up to date equipment and upon discovering I did not they promptly had a technician install the new modem/router free of charge.
Tonight they really raised the bar. Due to an unfortunate accident my modem was knocked off of the counter and broke the fiber cable that provides internet to the modem. It’s Sunday at 630 pm, so I don’t expect to get ahold of anyone, but I call in anyways to hopefully schedule out a repair. They had a technician there within the hour and he was, like my interactions with the rest of the company so far, very professional, courteous, and had my internet restored before I knew it.
This company doesn’t treat you like a utility customer, they treat you like family. If you’re lucky enough to have live oak fiber available where you live, and you aren’t already a customer, you should not...
Read moreWe decided to switch to LiveOak from Cox, even though we were paying less for Cox. But everyone was raving about LiveOak, they offered parental controls, and $5/mo for 5x the speed sounded good. It wasn't good. Nothing was good. They couldn't centrally locate our modem in our house because they "couldn't run their fiber through the attic." Because of that, the internet wouldn't reach parts of our house. Customer service had us try a different frequency. Still nothing. So then we hooked up a Mesh wifi extender. That got the internet to other parts of the house, but our main TV in the center of the house constantly had the spinning wheel of death. So then they had us bridge our mesh, which meant the parental controls no longer worked, and still we would get max 12Mbps on the TV, often only 2.4Mbps, and still the spinning wheel of death or the picture quality would go to crap. Also, whenever they would push an update, we'd either have to trade out our modem or have them manually push it later in the day because it always disabled our internet. After a year, I finally had enough and cancelled service, but since I cancelled on May 2nd, they had already charged me for the entire month of May, and I was told that they don't pro-rate their service, so I payed $55 for 2 days of crappy internet. Thanks a lot! I should never have switched, or at least I should have cancelled a long time ago! Back with Cox, faster internet, cheaper, no contract or hidden fees, and they'll prorate our cancellation if we decided to do that in the future. You have...
Read moreI was initially contacted by Jax Anderson, Market Sales Representative for LiveOak Fiber, after expressing interest in changing our internet provider. Although interested I was not committed to engaging LiveOak since our internet needs do not require the speed/bandwidth of fiber. Jax provided information—including many technical insights—without an overt sales pitch or any pressure. He was helpful, informative, and friendly.
A technical visit to the house was scheduled. J.C. from LiveOak came to the house on time and full of information. He assessed our set up inside and outside of the house. He patiently answered all of my questions and offered some suggestions for the mesh system I wished to install. J.C. informed me that he would dispatch two installers since the task appeared a bit more complex than usual.
Two technicians from LiveOak, Jeremiah and Q, came as scheduled and promptly went to work. I was apologetic about the difficulty of the installation. They were very pleasant and proceeded without complaint. Fishing the fiber behind a rock wall took quite a bit of time, and J.C. appeared. He took charge of the process as the senior person and enabled completion of the installation. Additionally, J.C. stayed on site to help in getting the mesh system up and running. He could not have been more helpful.
These four LiveOak employees made what appeared to me to be a daunting task seem easy. They were unfailingly pleasant and technically excellent. LiveOak Fiber is enthusiastically recommended because of...
