This is a mixed review based on this store has a better selection than Castleton location and it is organized throughout the store in a customer friendly layout. However, I felt that some buyers may need to be watchful (BEWARE) of bias behavior from sales personnel toward certain customers. Specifically, this past Saturday, I approached two associates (older Caucasian man and a very red complexion Caucasian middle-aged female) who did not greet me (only customer in front of them) when I approached the Return desk. I proceeded toward the male associate who I greeted first, by asking how he was doing. He did not respond (always a bad sign in customer service.) I asked him again and responded, "okay" and asked what could he do for me? I told him I had a secret Santa gift from my coworker (still in the JCPenny packaging) in which I wished to evenly exchange for a different color based on reviews stating bleeding with current color of red. He asked if I had receipt. I told him no. This was a gift. He asked if I had a gift receipt. I told him, no. My co-worker told me it was purchased at JCP but did not know I was exchanging. He asked if I had the drivers license number, charge card number of the person who purchased the item. I responded, that usually at Christmas you can exchange gifts. I said, I was not trying to get money. I only wanted the same exact item but a different color. The female associate spoke up and said I must have proof of purchase and confirmed this was needed to prove that the item was bought and not stolen by my co-worker ( 60 x 50 huge fluffy throw). I told her, I had been around awhile and I've never experienced this type of return policy. The female associate said to me at the end of the conversation, "Sorry". I left the counter feeling a personal unfair bias had just taken place. Therefore, I went to JCP website that clearly stated WITHOUT receipt, purchases at JCPenney are eligible for exchange or refund as JCPenney store credit. I had to seek out a manager and I assume the return associates sent another manager once it was noticed that I was being allowed to exchange the throw ACCORDING to the policy. The second manager without hesitation said I could make an exchange, same as the first manager. As the manager was processing the return, the two Return Desk Associates conveniently disappeared. Ironically, at the end of transaction, I looked down and the exact verbiage for non-receipt returns was posted in black and white print highlighted in yellow. JCP needs to removed these two associates ( I will update this review with their first names once I return to the store to look at their name tags) from the Return Center desk. JCP advertises Easy Returns which was not the case for me. Granted their are exceptions, but this return should have been simple and easy. These two association created an unnecessary, uncomfortable, poor customer experience which...
Read moreThis is the first time I’ve ever written a review on the internet but I felt that it was necessary. I had a portrait studio appointment today (12/7) at 12:15 pm.The photographer, I believe her name is Pam, randomly decided before the photoshoot that she would not allow outfit changes for the session, even though it was only my baby son and every other time I have been there they have allowed for outfit changes, sometimes two. She was very rude and condescending about it and her reason for not allowing the outfit change was because she had another client coming in 10 minutes (keep in mind she was also 5 minutes late to MY session), and also it was just the JC Penny policy for the holiday season. Again, I have always been allowed one of two outfit changes and was never told ahead of time that this wouldn’t be the case. So I left without getting the pictures done and called Castleon’s studio and they said that outfit changes are ABSOLUTELY allowed during the holiday season and that the photographer at Hamilton Town Center was wrong to tell me that. This is not the first time this photographer was rude to me or my friends that also go there. We have all decided to take our business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the frustration and do not go here. If you do, request Mariah because she is really awesome and it sucks that the rudeness and actions of one makes me never want to go back. JC Penny, do yourself a favor and get rid of this photographer. She is awful for...
Read moreSo I’ve been putting off writing this review but I have to just voice how I feel. I understand the game of the credit card and the asking and reasking of pushing buyers to get their card I get it. However the cashiers get pushy and very rude. It gets to the point of myself getting angry and shutting down then I leave feeling angry and this happens almost every time. I don’t hold a line of credit it’s just my choice. When I say no I mean no and just go on with checking me out. The cashier today was so worried about the card scheme that she almost forgot to scan an item. So please be kind and ask your question take my response and move on. My family has shopped here for many years but it makes me want to look elsewhere because it gives me anxiety to even go to the checkout. I hope this message is clear and policy management will change because I’m sure I’m not...
