Ms. Josephine was an absolute delight as far as staff is concerned. While checking in another woman kept interrupting Ms. Josephine while she was checking us in and openly talking down to her. I didnt know what had transpired to lead up to this womans frustration with this nice lady helping me settle in upon arrival, so I was patient. We got 1 free pass for Vegas Diner breakfast per person with our stay which was great!
The location was ideal - close to the beach and a short drive to the boardwalk which was a godsend for our teenagers.
THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN. It did not smell clean but was visibly clean. We were not a fan of our room which felt like a camper the way it was laid out. It was small for sleeping 6. The shower made a high pitch sound when we ran it. The room had a musty odor to it when we arrived which was on the late side of 7 due to traffic but was ok since we booked ahead. I would have thought windows would have been open to air it out if it had not been rented in a bit.The lamp shades were pretty gross- they had stains around the inside of them. There was not central air but there was a window unit located in the bedroom which left the living area and kitchen awfully hot. The beds were VERY HARD.
There were no noise issues, I couldn't hear the people around us which is hard to come by at these places so we really were impressed by that . We were equally impressed by the fact that the exterior seemed to have porters rolling through all day. You never walked by overflowing trash or mess. Another thing we really were impressed by.
I loved that they provided a grilling area.We took full advantage of that along with others as well.
The pool closed at 7pm which we did not know.A sign by The pool said not to play your own music that they would provide music but in The 4 days we were there, none ever was played. The hotel next to us had poolside music blaring all day.
Parking is extremely tight and they only allow for one vehicle per room. One night we went out and I parked over the line, not seeing I did it- I walked out to a note on my windshield about parking between the lines signed by management. I wasn't upset about being reminded about something I did. I was more upset that they didn't just text or call me. I found the note displayed on my windshield extremely rude and unprofessional. They sent a text about someone losing a phone cover and about check out time even took my license plate # when I checked in. There was no reason to handle it the way they did. Had they contacted me on my phone I would have fixed my SUV immediately, allowing for it not to affect anyone else's parking.
All in all this was a decent hotel with a great location for the Memorial...
Read moreDo not stay here it is disgusting. Had a horrible experience here. When we went into the room immediately we saw a rip in the couch arm, then we opened the refrigerator and it was disgusting, we opened the microwave and once again gross, we sat on the fake leather couch and it was broken. Needless to say there was no way that I could stay in this room and when I went back down to the lobby and spoke to Heather I was told that I was wrong the the room was IMMACULATE and that if I didn't want to stay there they would refund only half of my money. I have had this problem two other times in my life and both times I got a full refund for my stay. I asked Heather to be a decent business owner (she told me that she was an owner of the resort) but to no avail. I told her I had to think about it and went back to the room, while I was in the room I got a phone call from Heather saying that I was in luck and they just had a cancellation for a 2 bedroom suite of which I would have to pay $220 a night for. I told her that a decent business owner would offer me the upgraded room for free. Of course the answer was no because there is no decency in this business owner. I took pictures of the disgusting conditions and went down to show her. We had at that point decided that there was no way that we could stay there. I showed her the pictures and she did not care one bit about any of it and even told me that I only paid $110 a night for the room so what did I expect - what happened to the room being immaculate?. Now wouldn't a decent business owner who truly believed that this room was immaculate cared about these conditions. Of course Heather did not care because she is not a decent business owner. So I took my refund less my $250 deposit and I left. I continually asked Heather to be decent business owner so I guess that this is how she believes that a decent business owner behaves. Her idea of immaculate also has a lot of pretty poor interpretation in it. This business has no integrity, decency and honestly, Heather was so rude and demeaning. What a wonderful family resort unless that family has a horrible moral compass. I would never behave the way that she did. I could only compare this place to a roach motel at best. Also the reviews have to be falsified in some manner because there is not way that this motel deserves the ratings...
Read moreLove this location! The cleaning staff is mostly friendly. My room was not clean, microwave had food in it, surfaces were not wiped down. I don’t think it’s the standard, only a few of the cleaners were lazy and uninterested. There is a lady that goes around checking rooms so not sure what she is checking. I bring Lysol and paper towels so I cleaned it when we got there. They do clean the blankets!! Which so many do not. Pools need to be cleaned more and checked during the day. They claim to be a non smoking property, but have a smoking spot set up right next to the pool, kids inhaling smoke. Most people ignored the no smoking and smoked outside their rooms, and in front of the elevator. No one enforced it. They do enforce silly things, which is a little annoying. You get the idea that they really don’t want you to talk back. I was worried about bringing up the dirty room so I didn’t. Can get loud outside at night but you can’t hear anything in the room. There is an ice machine for minimal ice- takes quarters. Room is stocked for kitchen, couple pans, toaster, plates, coffee maker which was gross and we didn’t use. Standard efficiency does not sleep 6 Double beds and pull out. It was tight with 4 of us but we know this is the deal. I did smell bleach which we were very happy about. Location is great for the beach. Even side has no ocean view, odd side does but way more crowded over there. 2 grills on site, never had an issue getting one. Sitting area outside your room is tight and not all rooms have chairs. Most of the common outdoor spaces are crowded with people running out and saving them. 4-5th street beach is a surfer beach and closed off, 2nd street is on a corner and not a good beach. Russos market is walkable, best food on the island. Golf and ice cream also walkable, boards start at 14th so it is kinda a far walk but not bad if you like walking. All in all we would stay again. I think your experience really depends on the week you are there. We stayed in June before and it...
