Absolutely the best BBQ I have had this far north. Brisket was juicy, tender, and delicious. Sausage was fantastic. My wife loved the mac and cheese and my 4 year old ate the fries till he was full. Pickled veggies were fantastic! Will be trying the chicken and turkey next trip. Ribs will be soon after that!
Worth noting that prices are pretty steep, but that is the case across most of the Wildwoods these days and is no surprise. Do not get separate rolls, though they are good, they are store bought and so not worth it to be up charged a dollar. When I ordered them online I expected something made in house and so would have otherwise spent my money on more mac and cheese!
Lastly, though I like sweet baby rays BBQ sauce, I was hoping for some side of a vinegar based sauce for the brisket, or at least something house made even if it wasn't a vinegar based sauce.
Also, though I do like tipping those who deserve a tip, an online order that I am going to pick up and not get delivered or sit down to any service should not have a built in gratuity. Those with less attention to detail may not notice and could think they are getting overcharged and that could discourage future business through the website option.
Overall, fantastic food and very nice people, but some small changes or additions could make the meal worth 6 stars if I...
Read moreWife and I had a gift certificate so we gave this a try. By far, the brisket (1/2 lb.) was the best. Both the point and the flat were tender and delicious. The meat had been wrapped and then reheated, so the bark was wet but still flavorful. A cup of the au jus would have been a nice addition. This was better than the other major smoke-house (MudHen). The ribs (St. Louis - 1/2 rack) were bite-tender, with a very detectable smoke ring. A bit more doneness would have made them spectacular. Sides: Tempura Smoked Cauliflower, baked beans, potato salad, corn bread. I have an aversion to heat, so we got the hot sauce on the side. Good thing - it was even too hot for my wife who douses her scrambled eggs in sriracha. It was overly smoked and then dipped in tempura and deep fried. Interesting, but we'll pass next time. Baked beans were a mixture of northern white beans and kidney beans in an overly vinegar sauce that could have used a good dose of brown sugar. Potato salad was decent, but had dill which gave it an odd flavor. The bright spot was the cornbread. Moist and tender. Interior has graffiti-covered walls and picnic tables. Prices were a bit steep for the offerings. Meal was $80 with no beverages. I'm sure we will be trying this...
