Northwind Motel — Hotel in North Wildwood

I went with a large group that rented out the whole motel. Family-run facility with emphasis on attention to guests. Weather was great, pool area perfect with some areas of sun and shade, pool had a 1-foot section for little ones. There's also a deck on the third floor with tables, lounge chairs. Onsite free parking, but you might have to leave your keys in the dropbox if parking behind someone. Rooms similar to small apartments - table and chairs for dining, pullout couch, full sized fridge, microwave, coffee maker, plates/cups/utensils, a bedroom with door. Sound does travel in this sort of setup, especially with such a large group. I rated this place 4 stars only because it's not located close enough to the boardwalk, which is probably more of a plus, but not so when traveling with teenagers. Our room was not clean upon arrival- blood stained towels, mold on the tile in the shower, dead bug in the soap dish, coffee maker insides filthy. I took the stained towels to the office where they slammed the apartment door that was open on me before coming around to the desk with replacements. This made it awkward to return with any complaints. When I did review this property on another site the owner responded with the fact that for a weekend stay, the chamber maids only make the beds and that's how the bug was missed for our entire stay. If you're traveling with kids, I'd suggest avoiding this place altogether. The hotel has a pervasive ashtray smell, and it seems like everyone is smoking. The air is thick with smoke and foul language, making it difficult for children to relax or even sit outside. The adults take up the entire pool, even the baby pool. The beds are uncomfortably firm, and the housekeeping staff doesn't even bother to make them. To make matters worse, we discovered that items were missing from both outside and inside our room. There was no parking either for our car. Music and people were partying until 5 am. All in all, this is not a place I'd recommend...
