We love the spot. However, this is the second time we stay and both times there were inconveniences they are unable to solve. We got an ocean front with Jacuzzi this 2nd time. 1st time they gave us the room with out Jacuzzi and told us they did not have a Jacuzzi room available, even tho we reserved and fully paid for the room we are to have guaranteed. They said they would switch us the next day. It was after 4pm when they gave us the Jacuzzi room. The manager at the time didn't want to accommodate us for the almost 2 days lost because of their inconvenience. On our check out, i seen a different manager, higher ranked manager maybe even the owner, not quite sure. I explained to him what happened and he refunded me the whole stay!! We decided to come back a second time. Booked an Ocean Front with jacuzzi. I made sure to write on my reservation to make sure i had my Jacuzzi room and extra decaf coffee. We got there Wednesday, got asked for an ID and car info. Then he asked me for my card to pay a remainder charge. Hmmm i paid in full. I told him i did not have to pay as i paid full amount. He than said never mind im looking at a different person. Hmmmm didn't you ask me for my ID? Anyways, we get our keys, go up and....WRONG ROOM! Before my husband gets our stuff up, i called and told them my room had no jacuzzi. View was BEAUTIFUL room was great just, NO JACUZZI. We got changed to another room. This room was much smaller, our paid OCEAN FRONT was BATHROOM FRONT. ( public boardwalk bathrooms right infront of our view) The jacuzzi tub was dirty and pieces were broken. We called to let them know that the Jacuzzi pieces were broken( we did not want to get charged for that) and that we did not appreciate our Ocean front to be bathroom front. He apologized and said there were no more rooms available. He said and i quote, " I GOT YOU!" Call in the morning to be switch to another room. He would not be in there in the morning but he would leave a note. We never got switched, never got a call, maintenance never came to fix the piece. ( not big deal, we just didn't want the blame) It is so sad that good hotels get a bad rep or rating based on the poor customer service or lack of interest towards paying customers. A great manager will always look for ways to turn a bad experience to a great one. Wich is what Mike did my 1st time. This time, i did not see him but decided to not even bother as i spoke to 2 different ppl and got no where. I did not want to spend my vacation arguing or wasting it in the phone or front desk. Its not a bad hotel, people need to know that the pictures on the website are not at all how it is in reality. Two times we went, the pool area was not at all like the pictures. They fail to mention the pool is right beside the trash bins, its very very small and its lacking maintenance. Pictures show a nice beautiful pool. Their restaurant is not open ( online it says open) they say bc of COVID but many restaurants are now open in OC including the tap house on 4th street. Their entrance has a pond. Its full of trash and green water. Small details is what makes a MOTEL be a HOTEL and what goes from 1 star to 5 star. I give it a 3 star. Most staff instead of cleaning the place up, is...

Oceanfront means rust and wear, from the salt. With all of that said, my first contact was calling to ask about the amenities in the room. The manager offered to FaceTime with me and ran around showing me different rooms. You don’t get that at any Hilton. I booked and arrived early - they let me, with no additional charge (though they did say that they were supposed to but let me since the manager had said it was ok and to call first). ||The room itself was impressive, it was 615. Huge space and easily the size of two full rooms with three balconies. One of these is a side facing and had an ocean view and the other two were bay/parking. That may sound bad -a view of the parking lot - but laying in bed all you see is water. ||Now, it wasn’t perfect. The coupons I was supposed to choose as part of the perks of booking direct were never given, and the girl up front didn’t seem to know about them. I would probably use a third party next time knowing that. The adjoining door did not close. There was also a button missing on the jacuzzi that didn’t seem to affect the function, and the pine-sol knocks you out walking in. I don’t know how good the a/c would be in summer since the second bedroom stayed much warmer than the first. It was cool out so we left the balcony open. The door not closing would have been a deal breaker for me because that separation was why I chose this room, but for me, the rate vs size of the room/location meant I could put a suitcase against the door and let it go. I will say though that the door still had a large gap so it does disturb the other person and that was frustrating. There’s a lot of little cosmetic things that can and should be done - bare spots where things were painted around, weirdly low chairs at the weirdly high desk, etc. It’s a lot of simple cosmetic fixes that just remind you that are staying at a bit of a lower end place which is a shame since again, easy fixes. ||I probably would have been more bothered by the issues with the strong cleaner smell, broken tub part, and especially the door not closing, but in perspective to what I paid and the boardwalk location it was not a big deal. If I paid more, I definitely would have wanted to move over the door. ||To be clear, we were very happy with the room and especially the staff because we understood the trade-off. When I woke up I requested late checkout and got it. When I needed to hang out an hour after I checked out in the lobby because it was raining, no one made me feel unwelcome. And that is exactly where I’m sitting writing this! I very rarely write reviews unless I’m really aggravated but this has been a very positive experience and in the future we will definitely return. ||To management I would say fix up the easy stuff, especially that door, and keep up whatever you’re doing with hiring/retaining your staff. Everyone we encountered was very accommodating. This was the first vacation in a long time that really...
Read moreDisappointed After a Once-Wonderful Stay. I have stayed here before over 6 years ago and it was wonderful. My experience this time was not so good. Our room was paid for 2 months in advance. When I called and spoked with representative twice that answered the phone, I asked about the taphouse restaurant and if they were still giving coupons $10 a day for the restaurant, I was told yes I would be given the restaurant coupons plus six other coupons I got to pick at myself. Check-In went easy. I received my coupons I picked out online but I never got the tap House coupons. The taphouse restaurant no longer exists. It's a bar and a restaurant that opens in the evening only. No coupons for that. I checked in my room I requested an accessible room I needed the grab bars in the tub. The room was not clean. The grab bars in the bathroom were covered with drywall dust, which made them very slippery. So before I could even do anything I had to clean the whole room. The floor still had sand on it all over. Cleaning service never existed. I placed the maid service sign on the door knob. When I got back at 4:00 thinking the room was clean. My sign was on the floor under my door room. Never clean trash piled up so I had to flag down the cleaning and she proceeds to ask me. What do you need? I said oh just give me some towels that was it. Again, we left the room following days. Put the sign up. We come back the signs under our door. Trash was piled up all over the floor. Towels were all in the corner of the bathroom. Nothing was done again. I flagged down the girl and she's asked me what do you need and I'm like. What do you mean? What do I need? I wanted the room cleaned well. What do you want done? I did not know I had to tell room service what needed to be cleaned because if they want it that way they should have a checklist that you put on the sign on the door cuz again I came back at 4:00 and I had no towels or no. Nothing in the room wasn't cleaned. I didn't know I had to tell them every single detail. I figured they had common sense to see a pile dirty towels on the floor and trash piling up and I had to ask for toilet paper. I will never go back there again. The hotel is pet friendly but the people that go there with pets need to control their pets. I do not want a dog jumping on me. I should not have to tell somebody to pull their dog back when I'm getting and ready to step on the elevator and then when I ask them to pull their dog back they get mad. I also heard dog barking at night. Why am I being woken up by a barking dog. Never again. My main concern was cleansiness and that's what they put on their website, They take pride in cleanliness. That is also why I picked the hotel. Their cleaning staff needs better training. I would never pick a hotel without room service and they specifically say they have it everyday. Never again. I forgot to mention the bed pillows. There was four pillows on each bed and they were lumpy flat squares, in which the pillowcase needed to be folded twice because the pillows were so small. They need to invest in...
