Disappointing and expensive. The menu is extremely limited. They were out of the things we wanted to order. The kids cheeseburger is $13! And the build your own burger was listed at $12? Speaking of prices, the prices on the bill was higher than listed on the menu by like $3 The waitress forgot to bring our kids drinks until after the food was served. The adult drinks we ordered were good and the best part of the meal. My husband's cheesesteak was incredibly greasy and dripped a puddle onto the plate. He also said he couldn't taste the peppers they charged him an extra dollar for, mind you that was the ONLY topping he ordered besides the cheese. The ahi tuna was okay but the siracha mayo was so overpowering that you couldn't taste much else. It was also rare, which I do not mind but others might. This was listed at $13 but came on the check as $16. My daughter liked her $8 grilled cheese which didn't look special. My son liked his 2 small chicken tenders. My other son order the fish and chips. It was supposed to come with lettuce, tomato and tarter sauce. It came with none but was put on after we asked for it. It had 2 smaller pieces of fried rolled fish. All of the chips were soggy and almost stale. They had a good seasoning but hat is all I can say good about them. The waitress brought out chicken wings instead of my daughter's grilled cheese but did go back and had the kitchen make the right meal. They were not busy by any means. The place was almost empty. This was during the off season but this was the most disappointing $100 meal our family...

What a gem. I booked a last minute reservation with Paradise Plaza Hotel for a golf outing nearby this week (where the restaurant is housed on the 2nd Floor.). And nothing against the Paradise accommodations, which are wonderful, but… the Waves Cafe/9th Street Taphouse absolutely made my stay. Thanks to some lousy weather, I’ve been rained in 2 of the 4 days I am scheduled to tee-off and ended up at Waves.

First off, the happy hour specials are incredible. Half price apps and “Paradise Punch” for 3$. Awesome. But wait till you order it. It’s Michelin quality food for wawa prices. Head-on jumbo prawns??? Prosciutto Fondue???? Medium rare angus burgers on fresh brioche???? Hand-made tortillas, short rib reductions with chimichuri ??? They literally have everything right: Italian, French, Mexican, American Continental, Seafood… etc… this is seriously unreal for a neon sign “stairwell” on a boardwalk hotel.

Not to mention their outstanding service and beer/drink menu. Bartenders and waitstaff are absolute aces. Tomorrow morning I’m going for my first breakfast and will provide an update. I don’t think it’s going to disappoint.

And speaking of breakfast, these guys are absolute BEASTS when it comes to convenience/hours open. While a lot of these places are still crying COVID and gouging prices while cutting hours, these dudes are open 16-17 hours a day, 7 days a week, with great deals and a smile while they serve.

Keep it up, JJ!!! You will be PACKED every night if you...

I’m very rarely surprised or left speechless by establishments nowadays I feel like I’ve almost seen it all. But today I was absolutely stunned and appalled by the service here, right off the bat it was awful everyone we encountered before we sat at the bar was standoffish and cold but that’s not what blew me away. I sit down at the bar and the bartender came up and just stared at me (didn’t say what can I get you or anything like that) I said hey can I get “so and so” and he literally walked away to someone 4 feet away and greeted and took their order without saying a word. Okay so let’s try again I grab his attention and go to order an beer I’d never had before, and when I questioned him about a particular beer he looked at me like I was stupid and said direct quotes as he pointed at the menu aggressively “What can’t you read?” It wasn’t a joking manner it wasn’t anything but lack of patience and the lack of customer service know how.Absolutely stunned and embarrassed I ordered a basic beer and quietly walked away but I cannot even fathom how someone like this is their bartender and reflects extremely poorly on the establishment I will never be back and cannot so anything but urge everyone reading this to do the same. Thanks...

Service isn't the best but friendly nonetheless. For a table of 5 we had multiple servers and busboys take our order, clear the table and provide the check. While I was there there was overflow in the restroom and although the floor was soaked there was no sign outside the door. My feet were soaked. Do not over the caprese salad bc it will be a huge disappointment. It did have the traditional mozzarella & tomato but it was more like a huge bed of lettuce with cherry tomatoes and store bought shredded mozzarella rolled/smashed into small balls and thrown into the lettuce base. I have NEVER seen a caprese salad done this way and since it was my entree I was extremely disappointed especially for the price I was paying $12-$14. Overall, I was not happy with the food or overall care for the restaurant. The only thing improving the experience was the live band.

Simply outstanding!! Was looking for a nice, relaxing place overlooking the ocean and we found it at Waves! It's located on the second floor of the Paradise Plaza Hotel. Our drinks were perfect pours, delicious appetizers of plump & juicy wings and a wonderful wedge salad. Our entrees were burgers. Not frozen patties but homemade ground sirloin, unbelievably delicious and beautifully dished! The bonus for this incredible evening was that the burgers were half-price that night (on Wednesday's). Please, do yourself and your taste buds a favor and check out Waves Bar and Grill. We cannot wait to return. Absolutely LOVE this place. Best staff, chef and owners in OC!!
