The Town of Ocean City, Maryland built the Ocean City Boardwalk Arch and Sign in 2000 to greet visitors. "Hello, Ocean City!" The Boardwalk itself, officially known as Atlantic Avenue, was originally developed in 1902, when several oceanfront hotel owners got together to build a wooden walkway for the convenience of their guests. During high tide, the walkway was rolled up and stored on hotel porches. Around 1910, a permanent promenade was built in its place. If you need an umbrella or a chair the beach umbrella costs 35$ and the chair (aluminum) is 15$ and the wooden one is 18$. You can also get a body board for 20-25$ ( if I remember correctly). Note that you do not keep them you just rent them out. You can pick the spot where you will chill at the beach and they come to you to set up the commodities. There's lots of gift shops for tourists. Lots of food spots too, almost any kind of food. There's a pretty big arcade area and a small amusement park in front of it called jolly rancher (I think that's what the amusement park is called). Read moreOcean City , Maryland. The beaches are clean and well kept. There are life guards on duty and the beach is huge and FREE. The boardwalk has plenty of shops and there is a pier with a small amusement park area. You can rent boats, jet skis, pontoons, watch movies in your car at a make shift parking lot drive-in theater. This town is for tourists and expects tourists so there is plenty to do. Everyone I came across were super friendly to me. I dont know if it was because the pandemic and everyone was just happy to be open but the people were super nice.
