I stayed Labor day weekend with my fiancé. We spent majority of our time in the hotel room enjoying relaxation and time off of work. Sunday night (after ordering take in and watching movies on our last night) I had two rash like bumps on my upper cheek of my face. We thought maybe I was bit by a spider. Next morning, my face had broken out more from this rash. We called the doctor and due to labor day we we're unable to be seen until Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning doctors from John Hopkins Hospital consulted with one another diagnosing this as Cellulitis. They explained to me that had I not sought help, this could have went into my bloodstream and caused serious neurological damage. The doctors explained that is was caused by a serious bacteria from either a pillow case/sheet, that had to have been on my face for awhile. We of course reached out Howard Johnson and this is where we received no help, no consideration, no empathy, no apology, no ANYTHING. We provided doctor diagnosis, doctor quotes of cause, doctor bills, antibiotic bills, proof of missed work, everything we had but they concluded that this was not enough evidence. I have been through so much pain, suffering, stress, financial stress that this was not anywhere worth our stay!!! Manager Ashley said maybe we can get a free stay, I'll check with my boss--just to follow up with hours late that they can't. They literally did nothing but cause us so much stress and left me with an infection on my face to hopefully recover in 30 days.
Families-- please don't risk your children or your own health for a stay at the Howard Johnson. They will give you nothing in return, not even a refund for $100 (this would simply cover my co-pay's and medication) They make plenty of money but truly do not care about their clients. Please spend your money on wholesome care--Airbnb's and bring...
Read moreWent here with my wife and kids and in laws for a week this August. When we made the reservations, we asked for adjoining rooms so our kids could move freely between our room and our in laws' room. When we arrived, we found that someone had changed our reservation to not only not adjoining, but on separate floors. After some arguing, we at least got ourselves all on the same floor.
The maid didn't come to our room after the first day, so we had to request new sheets and towels and make the beds ourselves. Also, there is no elevator in the parking garage and only one entrance in the alley way to go up, which was blocked almost every time we had to leave by delivery trucks for the restaurants next door. That was quite frustrating.
After the second day, our stay was adequate. The front staff was very friendly and the hotel was pretty clean. The rooms are a bit small, but we spent most of our time out on the beach or boardwalk and seeing attractions. There is free WiFi, but I think they need to upgrade their network gear. I kept getting failures to obtain an IP address which tells me they either need to have a shorter lease on DHCP or need some additional subnets made available to allow for more connections.
I don't think I'll return here just because of the frustration with booking multiple rooms and the inconvenient parking situation. If you are just a couple looking for a place on the boardwalk that isn't too pricey and isn't a luxury hotel, then I'd say go for it. For families though, I'd say find a condo or more...
Read moreProperty is clean but not immediately disabled friendly. You have to go around to a side alley from the lower level and use the elevator to get to the 1st floor. Same with coming off the beach. It's all steps. Hotel staff were on point with our requests for additional towels, provided early check-in with ease, and the room was clean. Bathroom was super duper tiny.... Has a hottub and indoor pool on the lower level. But the pool lift chair had a dead battery and the lift chair at the hottub had no battery. Not disabled friendly at all. Directly on the board walk, the hotel features a resturant that served me a broken glass which actively leaked all over the table and when I pointed it out to the server, he dismissed it. But, the food was good. A little on the pricy side but no more expensive than any other boardwalk resturant. Breakfast is not included but the resturant does have a breakfast you can opt for. Parking is ghastly. You go around the corner into an alley and go up the parking structure. There's only one way in and it's the same way out. Vehicles were coming close to collisions as one was coming in and another out. We stayed almost a week and during the week days there was ample parking but on the weekend....we took one of the last 3 spots left. Definitely not enough to accommodate a booked hotel. But, we made it work. The entire hotel and balconies are anti smoke, which was nice. Good size fridge in room. Again staff, we're excellent. Shout out to housekeeping. Plan to stay again. But I hope they fix the...
