This hotel, while new does have beautiful rooms with the largest balconies! I would add little tables though with the chairs for more down time while people watching the boardwalk. We are used to the prices for boardwalk oceanfront, so it is no surprise that the cost was not much more than we expected.
With this in mind, we fully understand the kinks that need to be worked out. The pool inside with the hot tub was quite clean but the inside pool bathroom needs to be up and working which I expected to be on their punch list prior to opening. Though it may have been a sewer issue outside the hotel which I suspect by odors along the board walk side of the building.
The roof top pool, which had THE BEST VIEWS of both ocean side AND bayside needs to be clearly marked from the elevators and the 6th floor elevator to avoid obvious confusion. The door from the the 6th floor to the pool was not working to access the exterior pool and it was fortunate there was people out there to let us in.
In fact, signs throughout the building would have made a lot of things clearer: one in the elevator that says where the two pools are; one on the front of the building facing the parking lot that shows the name of the hotel big and clear; one marking the ramp to the door (both for general accessibility and use of the luggage carts); one in the lobby showing which way to access the beach; one in the stairwell explaining that the B means "lower level" not "beach" (plus a temporary sign explaining that the basement isn't finished and closed to guest use).
I love the bar built out there under the soffit next to the pool. What is the plan for that? A bar of some sort would be awesome. Be sure the deck drains properly as we noted it did not. The bathroom off the pool in the hallway should also have been on the punch list to ensure the soap dispenser is working. Again. Likely just punchlist items.
The room we had was a corner ocean front that had amazing views from a huge balcony as well as great side oc views that let in so much light which was a rare treat in OC front rooms.
The bathroom lacked any washclothes and it is odd that there is no bathroom fan.
We really appreciated the new key entry into rooms and we were really impressed with the key access to turn on the lights. I would mention this at check in as it is not intuative.
For a renovated hotel there are NO USB outlets/charging stations in the room. This should be addressed.
We loved the full size kitchen. There should be cups and glasses though.
Breakfast to go was lackluster. For that kind of money either offer nothing but coffee/tea or up your game with actual juice with glasses and bagels with cream cheese options. I am assuming you are not fully set up.
The staff was amazing, friendly and very attentive. The beach photo back drop with all the fun props was super cute as are all the fun pool lights.
We would love to stay again when the kinks are worked out and really enjoyed the experience over all.
Because the place is small you can afford to be more personable. Introduce yourselves. Let us know what you may have if we forgot something when we check in. Remember, we won't know unless you tell us. What is the best way to access from the beach? Where are luggage carts? How do we bring them in? Where is the closest place to rinse our feet and gear before coming in from beach?
Thanks for offering a clean well decorated and designed hotel with excellent beds and sheets. Thank you for a fanastic view!
We hope that our taking a chance on you will remember to take a chance on us next...
Read moreLet me start off by saying if no stars was an option that's what I would rate this hotel. The rooms are some of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed at and for the pricing so not worth it, needless to say I've been to OCMD countless times, and have had experience with over 30 hotels in the city and none I mean none which were as impolite, rude, and downright asinine. We arrived to the hotel and the ONLY good experience we had was when speaking with a female who was very polite and helped us book our room for an additional day with no issues. That great moment was short lived when the manager (smaller white male with glasses) called us and advised the extra day we had booked was not available and that the lady was fired already for making said mistake. We later learned that they were just "Upset" because the room was given to us at their hiked up rate, and that the hotel was advising we could either pay additional money after the fact, leave, or be transferred rooms. I then advised the above gentleman that we had already payed, set plans, and that a transaction with an employee (at the time) acting as a agent of their property completed said transaction and we were understanding of that transaction and would prefer not to be inconvenienced. Again us engaging with management was only irritating and leading to an attitude from the gentleman where I requested him to call corporate and sort it out, 5 min later corporate seemed to settle the matter and advised we could have our room.
So not only did we have major issues with management and attitudes, we asked numerous times for trash bags, cleaning, towels, and blankets which the room wasn't equipped with from the beginning. it took 3 days out of the 4 day stay to get a small trash bag, and 3 sheets with a towel, after asking countless times, AND never received a cleaning of the room!
The hotel allegedly is a "smoke free" hotel but yet the constant odor of marijuana was traveling into our room which was undesirable.
overall cleanliness of the hotel was disgusting, there were beer bottles in the rear stairway for 3 days, our rooms bathroom still had feces in the bowl along with used toilet paper and the floor was dirty.
My overall experience was awful along with the other guests I was staying with, I will never recommend this hotel ESPECIALLY for the...
Read moreOur "stay" at this hotel lasted all of one hour... And 45 minutes of that was spent carrying things to and from the "suite". We booked the 2 bedroom family suite for our family vacation. Based upon the price, we expected the nice, updated, CLEAN rooms we had been promised. We were SORELY disappointed. My husband and I have been taking our kids to OCMD for our entire 31 year married life and we have had excellent, average and not-so-good hotel/condo experiences. We have NEVER before left a hotel and demanded a refund. This room was DISGUSTING. There was LITERALLY a layer of dirt on the sofa, black mold on the ceiling that sometime attempted to paint over instead of remove, and the smell of chemicals and mold sent me into an asthma attack within 10 minutes. The "french doors" to the patio were broken and one was nailed shut, the carpet looked like the vacuum cleaner sprung a leak and sprayed the dust back out all over the floor, every door in the place was covered in rust, and I truly didn't have the stomach to check the beds. We did not see a room in the main hotel, as we were to stay in the "suites" across the street, but I would NEVER, EVER suggest this place to ANYONE. As we were on the phone with the manager, who told me he'd "never gotten another complaint", a lady from the suite across the hall came over to tell me how upset SHE was with their nasty room, too. Unfortunately for her, she was unsuccessful in finding other accommodations and with 4 kids, had no other option than to stay in the horrible room. We were refunded our money after several days, although, I'm STILL waiting for the refund of my deposit. Do yourself a favor and avoid this...
