Diner, beware. While the location is great, you will be ripped off and experience subpar food and service. My family and I dined here on July 6 and I ordered the crab cake sandwich and fries. When the fries came out, I was shocked. They were stale, cold, very tough to chew, and tasted like they had been sitting out for hours. I’m not normally picky about my fries, but these were inedible. I informed our waitress and asked if there was any way to exchange them for tater tots (another option for sides). She was apologetic about the condition of the fries and said she would work on the exchange. I was pleased, though slightly surprised, when they brought out a plateful of tater tots. I thought the larger portion was a kind gesture to apologize for the fries. But then when they brought out the bill, I realized they charged us $10 for the tots! I asked if this was an error since I specifically asked if an exchange was possible and this cost was never communicated to us up front. Not to mention, tots on the menu (if ordered as a replacement to fries) are $3.50, not $10. The waitress talked to her manager, and all she could do was subtract the cost of the fries from the charge.
I went back to talk to the manager. The first manager I spoke to was terse but cordial, and let me know she wasn’t working our area. As we were talking, a second manager (who was overseeing our area) along with the waitress for our table appeared. I respectfully and candidly explained the situation - that this wasn’t a matter of money, but a matter of principle. As a customer, I felt taken advantage of and cheated. If they intended to charge us for the exchange, they should have communicated it up front. I was met with angry, blank stares and I quickly realized they would not make any effort to apologize or make things right. As they did not say anything in response, I left.
I am writing this review to warn other customers and in hopes that the owner and managers will take this as an opportunity to learn and treat others with more respect. While most of us are tourists, we are still your customers. I will not return and at this time cannot in good conscience recommend Hammerheads...

Our children (3 kids) ordered a kids meal each, my wife ordered the “Crabby Grilled Cheese” and I ordered the “Crabby Patty” burger. When the food came out the kids meals weren’t bad, and my burger was pretty good. However my wife’s Grilled Cheese looked like it never made it to the grill or anything hot. The cheese was still in square cold slices. We grabbed the waitress and she sent it back to the kitchen. When it came out it was hot and looked as it should the first time. Throughout our meal if we needed anything we had to hunt down the waitress. Once we were done the bill came. That’s when I started getting really annoyed. So our kids that ordered the inclusive kids meals that included a side and drink, were now charged a lacarte for their drinks, and at a rate of $3.00 each... Nearly half the price of their meals. When I addressed it with the waitress she said it was a mistake... oh good I thought and awaited for my revised bill. When it came out we were now charged $1.50 a drink... when I showed her the menu showing it was included she said “ oh yea that’s not right”.... seriously. So whatever I paid but it’s the principle of the act. This was not right and I’m hoping no one else finds themselves in this position by me posting this. Nonetheless...

The last year we were there was 5 years ago, and decided we needed to stay on the boardwalk, upstairs from Hammerheads, because we always had such a good time and loved their food and drinks and atmosphere. Finally we make it back to do just that. Waiting to stop down for some food and drinks, Hammerheads was closed the first day there. Okay, sure, bike week must have been intense. Next day kitchen was closed. Day after that we finally got to stop there, we had been having a great day!! Well, the waitress was absolutely miserable and rude. She stuffed the paper menu in my hand as she walked away "here!" she says. Stops back to ask if I want a drink. I ask if theres a drink menu, so she walks over to the podium while I'm still talking. Comes back and tosses the worn out menu at me with a 100% garbage attitude. I could go on and on but it's really not woth it, you get the point. The worst part is, the sign at the door is telling customers "be kind and be patient or be gone!" OK! So, my husband and I left. Get it together Hammerheads!! Quit blaming cutomers, and being short staffed as an excuse to treat your (high paying big tipping
