I will never stay there again, and I do not recommend it to anyone !! The location is nice but the resort has only 12 to 13 units and it’s more of a motel, not a resort.
Below are the issues I had with that place: 1- When checking in, no one was at the office to check us in at 4:15 pm and we had to call a phone number that was posted on the office-door to get some help. Even the person on the phone had a hard time giving us direction of which unit was assigned to us and how to get the keys.
2- The place is old and has a funny smell. During our stay, I had a hard time sleeping because their pillows are also very old/flat and uncomfortable. The locks were not safe and they could be open using a credit card. So every day we would take our valuables with us when leaving the unit.
3- At the time of check out, they did not provide me with a receipt even though I asked for it. Less than an hour after we left, we received a notification that we were charged $50 by the Blue Whale resort. If there was going to be a charge, that had to be communicated with us, specially when we asked for a receipt. I called and left numerous massages regarding the charge and no one got back to us. Finally after getting a hold of the office manager/maintenance guy, he was very rude to me and hung up the phone.
Paying $50 is not going to kill me but I have a problem with the principle of this situation. To me this looks more of a scam and taking advantage of people, which doesn’t sit well with me.
Hopefully my experience will help those of you who are thinking to stay there to be very careful of what might happen to...
Read moreThis place is old and run down. The rooms smell funny. It's very small and crowded as well. It is close to the beach which is nice. The beach has a lot of rocks at this area though so that's not ideal. Also, there's weird homeless people right outside your unit because you're so close to the beach. Not the best with kids. Management is also horrible. They don't clean the rooms all week. We spent an hour and a half cleaning it before we checked out. Did the dishes, took out the trash, vacuum the floor - everything. Management is still trying to charge us $300 for a "clean up fee". More like fraudulent fee. Something shady is going on with them. It's very frustrating to leave a place nice and have to fight through your credit card company against poor management that charges fees but won't call you back to even discuss it.
Even without the manager problem, the place is only two star. Do yourself a favor and book a nice hotel. There are a lot of other options that are really close to the beach in Oceanside and...
Read moreI JUST HAD TO RESPOND TO THE 2 MOST RECENT REVIEWS, THAT WERE NEGATIVE AND COULD NOT BE TRUE. I HAVE STAYED AT THE BLUE WHALE NUMEROUS TIMES OVER MANY YEARS. I DO NOT OWN THERE, BUT I WOULD IF I COULD. THE MANAGER LARRY IS FANTASTIC. HE WORKS VERY, VERY HARD TO KEEP EVERYTHING IN TIP TOP SHAPE AND DOES MOST OF THE WORK HIMSELF TO KEEP THE COSTS DOWN FOR THE TIMESHARE OWNERS. I'VE NEVER SEEN A TIMESHARE COMPLEX RUN SO WELL AND A MANAGER THAT WORKS SO HARD TO KEEP THE COSTS DOWN. THE COUPLE OTHER EMPLOYEES ARE GREAT TOO AND ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL. AND YOU CANNOT BEAT THE LOCATION. RIGHT ON THE STRAND, ACROSS THE STREET...
