I wanted to give this place 5 stars. I really did. But it has a few fatal flaws. When you first come in, it looks spotless and smells great. The lady at the front desk was very good. But then we went up to the second floor and it smelled like a bar from the 80s: Cigarettes?! Apparently they have a small number of smoking rooms at the end of the hall. But the whole hall, including the fitness room, reeked of stale cigarettes. This is so unfortunate, because this is otherwise such a nice clean place. The bottom level rooms all have doors that go outside. Why couldn’t they ban smoking indoors and just have smokers use the first floor rooms where they have a door to step outside? Most smokers nowadays are used to stepping out when they need to feed their addiction. The other problem was noise from the room next door. Apparently some guy felt the need to talk loudly on the phone until 1 am or so and then start again at 5 am, so we didn’t sleep well. My only other complaint was that the back door wasn’t locked. However it seems like a very safe area.
Don’t get me wrong…this is a super nice hotel in many ways. As I said, it’s clean, well maintained and the service is great. The price was very reasonable, including the $20 pet fee. Our room was a spacious suite with a kitchenette. The fitness room was well equipped and better than most in this price range (see pics). The indoor pool is big enough to swim laps in and has steps. It’s conveniently located right by I-40. There is a Brahms right behind it and other eateries close by. Yukon is a really nice suburb of OKC that is safe and has many dining and retail options. The manager gave us a list of local eateries. As we went to Lokal (The Local) which was great.
The rooms on the first floor all open directly to the outside, which is not something that I normally would do for safety reasons. However, rooms on the second floor open only to the hallway. The breakfast was very basic and I think adequate for a hotel in this price range. However, the options were limited compared to many hotels in a...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Best Western Plus in Oklahoma City and had a mixed experience. Let's start with the positives:
The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The front entrance was very inviting, adorned with beautiful flowers and miniature trees that added a charming touch. I particularly enjoyed the saltwater pool, which was a refreshing change from the usual chlorine pools. The hot tub was also enjoyable, though it was a bit too hot for my taste.
On the downside, the pool area had few towels available, which was a bit inconvenient. Additionally, we had a rather unpleasant experience at check-in. The front desk staff almost refused to rent us a room because we are locals, explaining that they’ve had issues with people using the hotel to catch cheating partners.
The location of the hotel is excellent, with many restaurants within walking distance, including Braum's, McDonald's, and more. It’s also easily accessible from the highway, which is a big plus.
However, the price seemed a bit high for the quality of the rooms. While breakfast was nice and offered more than expected, the hotel’s strict policies were a bit off-putting. One major issue was the smell of marijuana, which somehow made its way into our room, making our stay less pleasant. I wish the hotel could manage this better.
Overall, while there were some highlights, the experience was a bit of...
Read moreInteresting and nice BW near the freeway, but very quiet. Well reviewed and we were happy. Nice room, very clean. The beds were on this wooden platform that stuck out at the corners and the first thing my husband did was to bang his newly replaced knee on it. We stuck a bag there so we’d have to walk around it and that worked. Odd flat shower that I was sure was going to leak and didn’t. In fact it was a great shower-good water pressure, etc. The room had both an interior hallway entry and an outside entry…odd. We parked outside so we used that entry. Good mattress; both slept well..||All would be perfect except the odd scene in the lobby at breakfast. Not bad, but weird. The breakfast room was mostly part of the lobby and the lobby seating area was about 5 or 6 chairs just across from the breakfast buffet and directly in front of the of the coffee pot. The chairs were filled with the housekeeping staff drinking coffee and laughing and chatting and interacting with the breakfast lady. Three guys who may or may not have been part of the staff, two at separate tables draining coffee and looking at their phones and one in a chair in the lobby, also looking at his phone. (Actually: who isn’t looking at their phone these days.) The woman behind the desk had her head down and was looking at the coffee ladies a lot… Maybe I’m reading too...
