The first room they booked me had mold in it, on the desk and on the lamps all 3 of them. Tape over the red speaker on the a wall near the ceiling next to the bed. The 2nd room was clean, the bathtub stopper didn’t work so I asked them to fix it. They did, however, there was broken glass in the bathtub and trash on my bathroom counter when I arrived back to my hotel room that night. I told the desk attendant she didn’t care at first then I brought her the items and she said she made a report in the computer. I heard nothing from management. Then later throughout my stay, water bottles missing, food crumbs on the counter and floor looked like my chips I bought for myself. My pink and red small makeup travel bag missing/stolen, so are a pair of my black leggings. I reported these things to management. I didn’t hear from them about an investigation. They said they would investigate but didn’t communicate anything with me or follow up. The day of my checkout the male manager said he never heard of any complaints and his staff has been there for years. But he offered to pay my leggings and said that if I didn’t like the next hotel I go to, then to call him not book online and he would give me a good rate. Why would rebook with the issues I experienced during my stay. I just got off work and if I wouldn’t have looked at the tub while trimming the water on, I would’ve bled from the glass in the tub. I paid for security, safety and privacy-don’ didn’t get it. They’re not cheap. The washers always broken and do not clean your clothes. I went to a laundry mat to wash and my clothes were clean. You can see the difference if you’re a clean person. While I was loading my car checking out, the male manager was at the front desk talking to a staff member about me leaving going to go to the Hawthorne hotel. Laughing. But how did he know when no-one knew because I had just made the reservation in my room that morning alone. Do they have listening devices in the rooms? Cameras? Did they hack my gmail account since I signed into their computer but I always delete my account when logging off. Hmmm then he offered to give me discount if I ever come back or find it more expensive at a different hotel....
Read moreWe stayed at Candlewood during my last throat surgery and we loved it! It's right near I40 and Meridian and very accessible to south central OKC. These rooms are pretty much set up for extended stay and are really pretty good. We got the queen size suite and the only thing I can complain about is how they do the air conditioning. They block off the air conditioner in the main room to flow into the suite bedroom. It works out OK, but you have to keep it on freezing cold to keep it cool in the suite bedroom overnight. The kitchen area is awesome! They have pretty much everything you have at home. Full size refrigerator with ice maker. You might want to bring in a small bag of ice at first because they don't start the ice maker for you. Stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. They have all the plates, cups, bowls and eating utensils that you need right down to the can opener and potato peeler! No free breakfast, but you can fix anything you want to in the room. There is lots of fast food and restaurants all around there. There's grocery stores too. We went over to Buy For Less and discovered an excellent Chinese take out place in the parking lot. The halls are long, we got an end room because I didn't specify that I was handicapped and it was too far for me to walk. We will be staying there again next week for 3 nights and I specified handicapped this time so we will see how it turns out this time. I really recommend this place especially if you are staying more...
Read moreWe had an excellent hotel experience here at Sonesta! A friend of mine used to be the manager here, back when it was a Candlewood Suites location, and a lot of times when a major chain sells off a property, it goes downhill. Not here, though there were a few minor issues (the cable TV in the bedroom wasn't working); hopefully Sonesta will keep putting the money into the place to keep it up as it should be. The only issues were unrelated to the hotel or it's management; the location this hotel is in (and a considerable number nearby) has become pretty rough--which is more an issue for the City of Oklahoma City than any of the hotels nearby.
The room was clean, well-stocked; all the dishes and kitchen equipment was in the dishwasher, and it all had clearly been recently washed. Even the TV remotes had been sanitized and plastic-bagged.
The bed and pillows were absolutely wonderful . . . those alone were worth the price.
And they still have a "borrow closet", something that Candlewood does as well, with board games, DVDs, toaster ovens, electric griddles, etc., available for guests to borrow. And there's an outdoor patio with a couple of grills available for guest use, too.
Altogether an excellent experience (and FAR better than our last stay at an Extended Stay...
