San Marcos Mexican Restaurant is a casual, family-owned chain featuring Mexican fare such as burritos, quesadillas, tacos, etc.
We arrived for dinner shortly before 5:30, and we're greeted and seated immediately. We were given chips with cups of queso and salsa. Some of the chips were the largest I've ever seen.
I chose the Burrito Loco, featuring grilled chicken, beef, and shrimp. The burrito was topped with red sauce and smothered in cheese. Rice and refried beans also came with the dish.
The burrito was delicious, with a balanced portion of the main features. The meats were tender and the shrimp firm, making for a delightful meal.
The other plate selected was the Chicken Quesadilla –served with guacamole, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo – which also came with rice and beans. The dish included two uncut quesadillas, and was very tasty.
My only regret was not ordering horchata, which is my favorite Mexican drink. Perhaps it was the long day spent in OKC, but I can't believe I forgot about it. Perhaps next time.
San Marcos Mexican Restaurant is a pleasant and clean establishment, with bright yellow walls decorated with pictures of Mexico cityscapes and a large bullfighter. If you need your Mexican fix, this place will...
Read moreBeen there a few times . Having a nice family lunch when a 5 man band comes in for a party out seats were a few feet from door. Music was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talk had to plate out food up to go. And last night had a 21first birthday party far granddaughter. Service was bad we had 21 adults and a few kids. Wait staff never came to refill anything. One guest sat there for 20 min. waiting so she went to the bar to order a drink, the girl at the bar said You Have To Wait because you're at a table.Rude Rude . A 30$ drink was order and the table was so wobbly the drink spilt . Waitress said we're not going to give you credit because no one tipped 20percent. I fore one gave 5$ tip for my 6$ beer. They we're tipped the birthday girl felt so bad she gave them 60$ from her birthday money, after checking from everyone they were given well over a hundred dollars.. I will never go to this one again. The best San Marcos is on S W. 59 different owners that take really good care of their customers. 3x your out. Okay - Let me start with affording ☆☆☆ by saying that for my taste, "Once you have eaten at one Mexican restaurant. You have eaten at them all".
Many will disagree, but my pallet enjoys spice, heat, & unique flavors that are the flavor of the house!
The food is not bad, but it is definitely not unique, in my opinion, to most other Mex-food establishments.
My review offers four stars instead of three because the interior is clean and orderly.
We have been promptly seated and served each time. Meal *presentation has been very clean and appetizing; the portions are very sizeable ( I read reviews for this location cricizing the portion sizes - not the case for the last two visits, four people, spanned 4 months apart).
The chips are thick corn tortillas with a nice CRUNCH - not the paper thin greasy ones.
The salsa is fairly thick with texture, bland for my taste. However, San Marcos offers a courtesy cheese dip that is nice! And hardly ANY place offers THIS for free! Nice touch!
Service was timely and polite.
My dish: Los...
