I've traveled all over this country several times. I was in the navy and deployed overseas for a year. This is the WORST experience I have ever had with a hotel. It's so bad that even though I'm an IHG member, I'm never staying at another one of their hotels again because even corporate "couldn't" help me.
I've been moving across the country with my 2 cats. I had to take all of my personal documents with me because I'm moving, passport, social security card, DD214, my dog tags, car title, etc. Now I'm short, female, and 100% disabled. I get to the hotel, and it is in a SKETCHY area. Buildings next to it are all boarded up. The ally looks like it was bombed in Beruit. The only people walking around are sadly pushing grocery carts with all their stuff.
The parking lot is an open lot, no gate, no garage, and is totally unsecured. There's no security personnel, city or private. Already, I'm on edge. THEN, I see the notice that no weapons of any kind are allowed in the hotel. Not even my pocket knife that I always carry with me. Let alone my stun gun or something I might have a chance of defending myself with.
This tells me 2 things, and red flags are going off everywhere! One, they've had enough problems with weapons in the past to make and post this policy! I've never seen that at any other hotel. Maybe once or twice, no guns, but never no weapons of any kind. Two, this means that criminals are still going to be armed, but that I'm totally disarmed!!
So I contacted IHG. I said I'm not staying here, I'm going to drive outside of the city and stay at another one of your hotels. They said I'm past the cancelation period, but I can contact the hotel manager for a refund. I called the hotel as I'm heading out. It was 4 pm on a Monday, and there was no manager, no assistant manager, no night manager, no one with any kind of authority until the next day. So, I was charged as a no-show.
I contacted IHG and filed a case number, requesting a refund based on the hotel being extremely unsafe and that it was misrepresented as slightly up scale. I was told the hotel manager would get back to me, and this would be addressed. 2 days later, still nothing, and the charge has now cleared on my credit card.
I followed up with IHG. They state that the hotel isn't in an unsafe area, and therefore, they are unable to process any refund. So, to hell with a disabled vet, who knows exactly what an unsafe area is, and I'm not getting a refund. Forget the memberships any any rewards earned from this trip. NEVER USING THEM AGAIN.
According to the hotel president, I'm a bully because I'm not going to stay somewhere that isn't safe for me. I would have written the exact same review, regardless if I got refunded or not. To help other people. You can read my other reviews. They are fair, and I always look for things to praise, even if I had some issues. This is one of the only one star reviews I've ever written. Ever. I stayed in several IHG hotels on my trip as a member. Overall, I was very happy with my other stays and left positive reviews. The one other less appealing stay I had was because the room was dirty and loud, and things were broken. There were pictures and videos with details. However, I still gave them a glowing recommendation for their staff, who did an exceptional job. And BTW, shown in the pic, my preferences saved in IHG for every stay on that trip, traveling with two cats. I only looked for cat friendly hotels, because I've traveled extensively in my life and I'm aware not every place takes pets. Some take dogs and not cats. Many IHG hotels will only take one pet. I checked every policy and had two cats in my preferences. All the other IHG hotels had it on file. Being so defensive as upper management, just goes to show how unreasonable the staff is. Only at this particular hotel. I'm not staying at an IHG hotel again, because if this one can get away with charging me for not feeling safe, then I'm not taking chances at another one. Keep in mind, I traveled 15 minutes out of town to stay at another IHG hotel...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the EVEN Hotel in Omaha, Nebraska from Nov. 12 to 14. I’ve never had so many problems at a hotel before, and was very unhappy that the hotel could not give us a refund since the reservation had gone through Booking.com
We called ahead to ask for early check in, were told it was not a problem, and then when we arrived at 1:30pm, were told by the desk clerk that they could not accommodate us until the usual 3pm check in. We had gone out of our way to get there at the earlier time, so this was the first problem.
When we returned around 8:30pm, the desk had no one on duty, but a woman standing there said he had just gone off to the restroom. Upon his return, he was rather cold and not helpful in explaining the parking system, which had to be paid for not as part of the room charge, but through a separate iPhone QR code that was not all that user friendly. By the time we got to our room, we were bushed.
Almost immediately I saw a wadded-up piece of paper on the floor against the wall. Figuring out the lights took a while, since the switches were not logical. We were tired and fell into bed. The heating/AC was noisy, and it took me some time to get to sleep. In the morning, I tried to get the Keurig coffee maker to work. I’ve used them before, so I know how they work. This one simply didn’t until I lucked into getting it to turn on. The shower was also a problem—there was only a hand-held fixture that wouldn’t stay in the holder, so one couldn’t use both hands to wash oneself.
We left the room figuring that when it was cleaned, at least there would be fresh coffee pods for the next morning. We returned to the room again rather late. The room had not been made up, so there was no coffee for the next morning, no fresh towels, and the bed was unmade. This time, in straightening up the bed, we discovered that one of the top sheets was torn in two places. I can send a photo. We called the front desk. The woman answering offered to move us, but since it was already late and we were tired and checking out the next morning, I did not want to go through that hassle. We’d been in the room for a night already. I gave her a list of my complaints, but I have no idea if she did anything about them to the management.
When we checked out the next morning, the clerk didn't know about a list of complaints kept from the previous night, but was finally apologetic, and I think quite embarrassed about many of these issues. When we requested a refund of at least one night, she explained she couldn’t do it because of their arrangement with you, Booking.Com. All she could offer was a free breakfast, which we didn’t want, and a bottle of water from the cooler. All this leads me to never again make a reservation through Booking.com, although this may be impossible since the internet seems to be taking over the world.
I am taking the time to write to your customer service department, hoping that it will get more attention than answering a...
Read moreThe one good thing about our hotel is that they offer 2 King Sized beds which is ideal for traveling with family. Rooms are spacious and Location is great! Having said that, the hotel is very understaffed, especially for a Holiday weekend. It was a very disappointing stay overall. Upon check-in, we were informed that the hotel had been oversold for the evening and because we booked through a 3rd party, we were not guaranteed our # of beds. I showed her our reservation and that in fact we paid an extra $28.00 per night for the 2 King sized beds and that r reservation had 3 adults and a child. After talking with Heather, Maria, and Jane and showing them our reservation, it was only then they ‘found’ a room after all. When we entered our room it was 81 degrees, VERY WARM. We turned the air on to cool the room down and after approximately an hour, the temp had only gone up, so we called the front desk, they informed us there was nobody working in Maintenance over the holiday weekend and they were having troubles staffing maintenance workers and a big overturn in staff. I stated it was 80+ degrees and this would not work, room was stifling hot! Assistant manager Jane came up with a screwdriver and tried to fix it, agreed how warm our room was, confirmed that there was no maintenance workers on, no manager, nothing as it was a holiday weekend… (Yes, word for word!) She stated the filter needed to be replaced ASAP and that was def part of the air flow problem, and said she would be back up to replace the filter. (She did not come back). Approx 2 1/2 hours later, I again contacted Heather at front desk and notified her it had only cooled down 2 degrees, and how miserable we were in our hot room. She stated there was nothing else they could do for us since they were oversold. There was a 2 foot pile of garbage near stairwell that was never picked up from Sat afternoon that was still there when we checked out Monday am. Sun afternoon after returning to our room, our room had not yet been cleaned. We were told that we need to ask for housekeeping at check in and that is not automatic. Ok, that would have been nice to know! Maria was very rude about this but did offer to bring us up towels. The bathroom door is nothing but a rolling barn door between the bathroom and closet and does not stay on the tracks, no lock, very little privacy. Pool area REEKS of mold. I was in there with my grandsons for approximately 15 minutes and started sneezing and became very stuffed up, the air quality and mold smell is overpowering. Could not use the pool after this. Parking and breakfast is not free as stated included in the reservation. You have to pay extra for this. This hotel is very underwhelming, overpriced, understaffed, and not worth the...
