My husband googled “best hotel in omaha,” in order to surprise me with a night away from the kids. Room was around $250 a night so I was excited to stay somewhere really nice and get some food and drinks and relax. As I waited for my husband to unpack our bags, I listed to one of the supervisors (lady with long braids) talking to the two girls at the front desk talk about how she’s gonna “write people up because she’s not gonna be playing games with them.” That lasted about 10 minutes so I thought, “hmm not what you want to hear right when you walk into your hotel but let’s head up to the room.” We asked about a pool/hot tub and there was not one but they did say they “upgraded” us to the falcons nest for free and that was supposed to be a treat. Room was smaller than most hotel rooms that I’ve ever seen and the view was of some lights and some trash. Beer cans, etc. I would rather have looked at the downtown area but we head down to the bar. Bartender didn’t smile and was not very happy. He did get us everything we needed but he just barely did enough so that he wasn’t exactly rude-but nothing above that threshold. Food and drinks were very expensive but I will say the food was great. Took leftovers to the room but no fridge, so they were wasted. Called room service in the morning for breakfast, and had to call 4 times because no one would answer. Went to take a shower and grout was dirty and orange dirt and mildew. Nicest thing about the hotel was the wall paper. Other than that, save some money and stay at a courtyard Marriott. Or something of similar value.

Stayed here instead of another Hilton down the road since it had a better gym and fun look. Staff were super friendly the entire stay and they were the best part of the stay. However, there were too many negatives that would cause us to not stay here again.

Granted, lots of this is because we were staying here during the winter, so I cannot attest to some of these in the summer months.

*Valet was about $37/day. We paid it because winter sucks, obviously, and it was a luxury that we wanted. Valets were good. One of them did heavily move my husband's seat and he had to readjust everything when he got back in which irritated him. The main issue with the valet was people kept parking there to go into the restaurant even though it's labeled as valet. This caused us to park with our flashers on in the road (like others had to do) and walk through some deep snow. The day we left, they had people that had parked overnight there blocking the valet area and we had to load an entire luggage cart of stuff by walking through 4 inches of snow back and forth between those vehicles. Not worth the cost, 100%.

*The room was not cleaned well. I went to use our ice bucket and it had a melted bag of ice still currently in it. I had to clean the shower floor from soap residue being slippery after I almost fell stepping into it and then there was so much hair coming from the corners. Then when we were leaving, I did a walk through and saw a sock next to the base of the bed. Thinking it was my daughter's I grabbed it and brought it down to the lobby where she was waiting with my husband. It in fact was NOT her sock and I was carrying someone's used sock in my hands.

*You can hear everything through the door when you're in the room. Walls were fine, just the door. And when you got off the elevator on the room floors, there was an overbearing perfume/room spray smell that was there every day for 4 days, so we know it was what the hotel put in the air.

*The bathroom was so absurdly cold that we had to wear socks even to go in there. One of the walls was an entire window. Great for summer I'm sure, but you can't even keep that room warm since there isn't even a vent in there. I accidentally left it closed one night and my stuff that was on the bathroom counter literally had a slight frost on it and the window was pure ice. The shower head is a waterfall which is nice, but to get a good temp was quite a task. We had to have it at "11 o'clock" to make it warm enough, but it took about 30 seconds after you adjusted the lever for it to change temp. Then mixed with the cold air from the window, it was just super unpleasant to shower...especially getting out after.

Again, I'm sure summer would be perfect for the hotel, but winter is definitely not a strong season for how and...

*update: I received thank you note from the property for my positive review. But if they read the review they would see negative comments and learn that there are still issues that need to be addressed. For example of the promise of reward points under my account that never occurred. I would think that they were going to address something like that. Perhaps now they will.

I will say they are committed to the falcon type decor. I feel like to achieve this they simply made everything variations of brown. Brown permeates the place almost to the point of ridiculousness. Actual falcon bass decor is very sparse. There's a little falcon on the headboard of the bed. There's a statue of a falcon in the lobby that's not very big. The restaurant and bar have names of the loosely falcon based. Oh and if you don't get an outside view, you're going to stare at a 4-story wall upon which a falcon is painted and perhaps by a group of high school students at that. The first room they provided had no hot water. When I advised the front desk of this they mentioned a problem due to construction of the property was some of the rooms have their hot water shut-off. The front desk was not aware of any list showing which rooms had no hot water and this is obvious when they randomly chose from the available rooms and again no hot water in that room either. The third room provided did have hot water that was much smaller than the first two. Instead of having a view to the outside, my view was a 4-story tall stone wall with a bird painted on it. Now granted there were pigeons between me and that picture and they provided a moment of entertainment. The sales lady who is at the front desk promised me I would get reward points added to my account because of the hassle of having to move to three different rooms with no hot water. She took my information but I never received the points. There's no pool here. The property was very quiet and pretty clean outside except for the floors. It appeared the floors had not been vacuumed for an extended time.

Summary: Perhaps a temporary situation, but where do you get hot water or not is a crapshoot. Empty/unfulfilled promises No pool No free breakfast

If you swoop in on this property you might find it doesn't soar like some others. At this price point, it's probably best that you nest...

As Hilton Diamond, I don't expect to always be upgraded but I certainly do not expect to be downgraded yet this is exactly what happened initially at check in. We arrived at the hotel early, around 1pm, and when I went to check in I specifically said that I knew I was early and the room may not be ready yet. The woman at the front desk said they did have a room ready and checked us in. However, when my husband and I went up to the room, it was clearly not the Falcon View room that we had booked and prepaid for. Instead, this was the smallest room on the floor based on the floor map on the door. I was never given an option of a downgraded room now or to wait for the room that I booked to be ready later. I would have chosen to wait. We immediately dragged our bags back downstairs and I said I was not happy with the room and wanted the room that I had booked and paid for. The woman at the front desk called housekeeping to see if there were any Falcon View rooms near ready (should that not have been her first step rather than just putting me in a lower tier room?) and the housekeeper came down to bring me to see if a room they were just finishing up and restocking would be ok. That made me feel ridiculous and high maintenance - all I wanted was the room that I booked - but I did appreciate the gesture. Not surprisingly, the Falcon View room was significantly larger than the one I was originally given with an additional bench and chaise as well as a larger bathroom.

Aside from the poor check in experience, we had issues with the hot water like other reviewers. While we were able to get hot water in our shower, it would vary between lukewarm and scalding hot without adjusting the temperature (I am guessing based on when others were turning their showers on and off). My brother-in-law and his wife were staying there as well with their baby and had no hot water the whole time so I know it wasn't just our room.

The bright spot of our visit was Eva who was our server for breakfast on our last day and went above and beyond to accommodate us shortly before they closed.

We were in Omaha for my husband's grandfather's funeral so while it's not somewhere we travel to frequently, I am sure we will be back to visit family at some point and I would not stay at this...
