Just finished our child’s birthday party at the Oregon City Michael’s. In theory, the idea of their crafting parties is a good one. In reality, this was a completely disorganized jumble, in a dirty room, with sweet, but totally unprepared staff and a less than helpful manager. If you book a party here, be prepared to lead the crafting yourself! I have SEVERAL suggestions for how to help pull this idea together, but the most obvious one would be to have an example completed so that the kids (and adults) know what they supposed to be making! One B&W photo copy of a template for 9 kids??!? At least assign an employee who has some crafting ability and even better...is comfortable with little kids! Hard to blame the teenage boy who was “helping” out though. He had ZERO idea of how to assist in our projects, but was a nice kid! The room was dirty (I guess it had recently flooded?) There was a ceiling leak and water dripping right in the middle of the room, the sink was clogged and unusable. When I asked to use the restroom to change my baby, I was pre-warned about how gross the bathroom was. Oy!!! No stocked paper towels or toilet paper, something resembling feces smeared on the wall, no safety strap on the dirty changing table, the toilet, floors and sink were beyond disgusting! The manager, Aimee, was quick to pass the buck on each of the two issues I spoke to her about. In the end...the kids had fun and that’s the most important part! It seems ridiculous to have paid them $160 for roughly $40 in craft supplies and less than appealing facilities. Hopefully, someone over there can whip this place...
Read moreWorst experience of my adult life!! I am a college educated, mature, reasonable, and compassionate freelance artist. When I went to use my $15 off of $75 order on my $100 order i was told that their policy excludes doorbusters. Which is fine, but I wasnt using their coupon. I was using a competitors coupon which clearly states in the same exact verbage "INCLUDES DOORBUSTERS". Aimee whom refered to herself as a manager, just kept speaking over me while not listening to me point this out. She kept repeating childishly, "Would you like to hear our policy?" After about 5 times of her speaking that over me I said "no!" I had already heard her tell me. It was her turn to hear my argument. To my astonishment, she told me not to talk to her like that. I didnt yell, i wasnt mean, just very frustrated. Dumbfounded, the only thing i could think of was how bad she was at her job. I then said, " Your customer service skills suck!" Aimee then asked me to leave. I replied, " Are you serious? I didn't attack you as a person. I gave you my oppinion about your behavior." Then, for every word i began to speak she just spoke over me in her childlike manor, "Would you just leave?" So i left. I've been a loyal Michaels customer for 20 years. I will never go back unless they rectify this. I spend at least several grand there annually and my networking tentacles go far and wide. Bottom line, $15 buck would of kept a loyal...
Read moreCustomer service is so important to a successful business. Unfortunately, the young woman working register 1 at 5:45pm on 12/7 needs some training. As the picture shows, this location curbside is available until 6pm. As the time shows, I was there well before (as I took this picture after leaving the store having waited in line for 15 minutes). She argued that their curbside closes at 5:30 even after being shown the times online. The problem? I ordered so I wouldn’t have to wait in line, which I ended up doing. All it would have taken is for her to acknowledge that the website is wrong or they aren’t honoring those hours. An apology and promise to take it up with management so it doesn’t happen to others would have been perfect customer service. Instead, she yelled “have a nice night” and called the next customer. So, I’m posting this so you know the hours are wrong or the store staff does not want to go outside when it’s cold. The one star is to reflect that not only is the staff poorly trained, but that at this time when curbside is so important for so many various reasons, the company should be making sure its accurately reflected online so as not to...
