My boyfriend (Corey) and I (Michelle) stayed at the Courtyard Orlando Downtown from Saturday, July 7 - Sunday, July 8. When we checked in and arrived in our room 321, I immediately got in the bed because I was tired from our travel. A few minutes later, I started to feel itchy. I thought it was just the sheets so I got comfortable and fell asleep. I woke up after 1:30 am and noticed red bumps on my hands and arms. The bumps were itchy and irritated. I immediately called down to the front office and reported that something in the bed was biting me. The front desk person stated he would send security up to the room. I waited for about 10 minutes but security did not show so I went downstairs. The front desk person stated I could switch rooms and gave me a key to a different room. He did not ask to see the bumps or try to find another remedy. The security person was walking around downstairs in the lobby while I was down there talking with the front desk person. He did not ask me about the bumps or the room nor did he ask if I needed assistance with moving my luggage. Being that is was after 2:00 am and he did not see a man with me, I feel he should have offered to help. My boyfriend went out Downtown. I did not go with him because I was tired. I moved our items from the first room into the new room. I did not receive a phone call from the manager in the morning about the issue. My boyfriend went to the front desk during breakfast to speak with the manager and to report the issue again. The manager did not take the issue seriously and did not try to provide a remedy to the issue. He said he sent someone to the room but the person did not “see” anything. My boyfriend asked him to come over to the table where we were having breakfast to look at the bumps on my hands, however, he barely looked and just ask me do the bumps itch or hurt. I told him the itch badly and also hurt. He walked off and asked us to come talk to him after we finish breakfast.
At checkout my boyfriend went back to front desk to speak with the manager. The manager told him that he will request an inspection and send him the report. The manager stated he think it was a mosquito from the balcony door.
The bumps that I have on my hands and arms are not mosquito bites. The bumps and small and red and some look like blisters. On my way home, I searched for pictures of bed bug bites and the bumps looks exactly like the picture. I went to prompt care this morning, and the doctor confirmed that it is bed bug bites. I took pictures to document the bumps. The pictures are posted under my Yelp review.
I am very disappointed in the way the manager handled the issue. He acted as if we just wanted the room for free. My boyfriend is a silver elite Marriott member who has over 26 stays so far this year. We do not need a free room nor would I make up a issue to receive a refund. The room was already paid for and was only $145. I just feel like my issue was overlooked and not taken seriously. The next guest can possibly experience the same issue if it’s not resolved. I was itching so bad over night and could not sleep. I am highly disappointed with this...
Read moreI feel compelled to provide feedback on this incredible experience. This recent stay was not business related, instead it was for my wife whom had a scheduled major surgery on 5/23 at the local hospital. I recently started a new job which prevented me from being with my wife on 5/21, when she checked in, and I was able to join her late 5/22. This is extremely important because my wife does not travel a lot, so she was alone dreading the major surgery by herself. She was extremely emotional and worried about the surgery not ever going through something this major. The surgery was to provide pain relief to symptoms she has carried for more than 5 years. My wife checked in to this hotel and she was immediately impressed with the front desk, one of them walked around and gave her a hug seeing how nervous and scared she was....this is priceless! In addition they also upgraded her room to a suite which made her more at home not being so confined. During the stay the staff made her feel extremely comfortable, even when her TV stopped working and the maintenance worker fixed the issue with ease. The front desk provided complimentary hot tea to her and sent her a gift basket to her room. Although all the staff was diligent in supporting and making my wife's stay as comfortable as possible, Victor by far exceeded all expectations. Victor provided a level of service that made my wife feel at ease and at home. His friendly smile was not only a kind gesture, but a very sincere one. When I arrived late on 5/22, he extended the same level of service to me and I was blown away. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels, and honestly favor Hilton hotels because the properties are generally nicer. This courtyard location had me saying 'wow' many times over and over, the lobby was very well put together, the couch area with a big screen TV, the security guard right when you walk in making you feel safe in a downtown area, the very illuminated parking lot all the way around the hotel with cameras, the pool area looked incredible and tropical (I really wanted to experience but didn't have time, but my wife did). Back to Victor, he helped us out in every way and was professional and genuine with every word. I am in a leadership position with my new company, Victor should be groomed for leadership or as a trainer. He is a role model as to what a guest should encounter. Victor deserves major recognition for his service, he is a true asset to providing an exceptional guest...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience. Each staff member from checking in, to night staff, to checking out was friendly, patient and a pleasure to communicate with. I had everyone's name written down to personally mentioned them but lost the paper in travel. I even witnessed the evening staff member being beyond reasonable and nice to a set of guys that came in around 11pm that were being rude and pompous. I even wanted to even say something to the guys for being jerks. She handled them with a very polite demeanor and took care of them well regardless of their attitude. The night staffer remembered me and my friend when we came back at 3am. She was very upbeat and welcoming. The morning staff that was doing breakfast was very busy but she had a smile on her face the whole time. Let me know my food would be up next and thanked me for my patience. she was doing a lot for one person, but kept an charming attitude.
The room was very clean, the location was great. I liked how they had alcohol wipes in the rooms for extra convivence. Plus the Paul Mitchell body wash and shampoo was a nice bonus. I didnt get to use the outside area by the pool, but it looked very inviting. The hanging lights over the patio area is a feature I will take advantage of the next visit.
I picked a package that included my parking and plus a money stipend at the in hotel eatery. Doing this made the cost reasonable. I can see some reviews that mention the $20 parking which normally I am also adverse to but at least its self parking and most hotels in the same area are charging the same. I picked the hotel due to the walking distance to the Vanguard. The walk was safe, decent lit, took only 5 minutes. It worked out cheaper for me to pay the hotel parking verses getting an uber at a different hotel.
I really liked my stay, honestly no complaints, and I...
