Hello,
I have shopped at Smart & Final for years. You may be familiar with some of their products already, they are closely related to Cash & Carry in Chico, featuring the lovely First Street products line.
First Street products feature California produce and dairy items, so Smart & Final is always a welcome sight and makes me feel at home, especially out of state.
Smart & Final accepts EBT, and as you do not need a club card, you can get club card sizes without the membership card needed. This means you can actually afford bulk healthy food for your family without breaking the bank. You can buy whole loins right out of the fridge and save by fabricating your steaks yourself. You can get bulk brown rice or whole wheat pasta or a 50 ct. box of gardenburgers or big things of tofu, 5 lbs of margarine, huge bags of granola, steel cut oatmeal, I mean, all the stuff required to stay healthy can be bought right here at this store.
You can even find restaurant-grade mop buckets, cleaning supplies, trash bags, giant bags of toilet paper and paper towels a la Costco/Sam's, drink cups and straws, cutting boards knives, bench scrapers, bamboo cutting boards, you name it, it's all quality. Yes, the brooms they have are the same real restaurants buy from companies like Sysco and US Foods.
As a Californian, please give Smart & Final a chance, I know they JUST opened, so give them a chance to get their sea legs, this grocery store can be a valuable member of the community. Smart & Final is an employee-owned company, they do not use preservatives to make bread last longer, or starches to keep their shredded cheeze from sticking, the quality of their products is obvious. Not every item they offer is perfect (some of their baked goods are 'meh'), but you don't have to like everything to appreciate how Smart & Final can improve your life.
I am not a sponsor or spoke-person, I have been shopping at Cash & Carry/Smart & Final since about the year 2000. I just really like it, and I hope you will to. You must understand when I heard it was opening in Oroville, I was very excited, and it was pleasure to see the grand opening. This is actually a larger Smart & Final, so I expect it to meet many needs....
Read moreI bought apricots, apples, brussel, sprouts etc. everything is at a higher price, but is marked fresh, so thought I would try it. the next day before I could eat any of it, I noticed mildew on the apricots so I threw them away, a spot of mildew starting on the apples so I threw them out also, I just finished cooking the brussel sprouts mixed with some smaller ones I bought from Wal-Mart about a week ago, the smaller ones were still good but the center of the larger ones I bought from Smart & Final was rotten, so I had to throw the rest of them out. I was excited to see an alternative to shopping at Wal-Mart, but at this rate their new store won't stay in...
Read moreLove this store. Great prices and friendly employees. I only have three things I don't like about this store.
1.) They don't carry all products that I use on a regular basis.
2.) Some of the products are packaged to large for my wife and myself to use before they will expire. We are a house of only two.
3.) Depending on the time of day you shop, it can be hard to get out of the parking lot. Since all of the the exits to the parking lot are near one traffic light that is also helping control the traffic exiting and entering the highway.
Other than that I do most of my...
