We recently had the pleasure of visiting my family in Illinois and stayed at Fairfield by Marriot Ottawa and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we called to confirm the room with the manager Trisha and request a pet friendly room up until the day my family and I arrived in town it was everything we expected and more simply by the way we were greeted. A very warm WELCOME was felt from my wife and children and my pet was also greeted and that meant so much more to me than anything as we have had some bad experiences with places that say are pet friendly when in fact there were not. Our room was located on the first floor next to the dining area and that made it convenient to handle the kids and pets while eating breakfast. The food was by far the most delicious for a hotel breakfast and we adults were excited about the oatmeal toppings station while the kids loved to make faces with raspberry syrup on their waffles. Trisha made us feel so welcomed from check in to check out with her knowledge of the area she suggested we visit Starved Rock State Park and we had so much fun hiking and we will be booking again in June 2025 for our next visit and hope to see her and her amazing staff again. Five Stars Fairfield By Marriot Ottawa Thank you for making our stay one to enjoy.

Love this place. Normally I'm a Hilton man but they were out of rooms. They have 2 55inch TV's that swivel, has internet tv that auto logs you out on check in so I can watch Netflix. The swivel on the TV's is very important because I'm here for a week at a time so I need more PS4. Internet... Is a little slow so I mostly stayed single player. So many pillows and the perfect firmness. I want those pillows but they don't have tags on them. Bad things. The desk is away from the TV's so it's hard to work and watch TV. The ac turns off for too long and always fan on won't stay on. The doors are insanely loud when they close. Once you open your door you have a certain amount of time before it autolocks because of this the lock doesn't let the door close. This came as a crazy surprise to me when I woke up left and saw my door was open. That's crazy to me. Edit: I stayed again in a different room. The tv didn't work and had to be plugged in. The bathroom shower is disgusting. I'm so glad I'm only here for 1 night. Edit 2: Can't explain how disappointed I am There are 2 huge TV's and I can't watch YouTube on either. I'm fine if hotels don't have smart TVs it's the disappoint in expecting a smart TV and I can't watch a YouTube video on either TV.

UPDATE: Still well run, clean comfortable. Luci R. always seems to be out host, and she is so kind and accommodating. Breakfast is always well stocked and fresh, they have a pool and hot tub, what more can you ask for. This is our go to hotel to have a nice getaway 3-4 times a year to go hiking, look for eagles, and just relax. We will be back soon I'm sure! Very clean and updated. Woman at the front desk was very helpful and kind, upgraded us to a suite with our status. Breakfast was good too, well attended, the woman running breakfast was quick to restock, clear tables, and kept everything clean and full. Pool area was small, but there's a hot tub, and kids were not fazed by the small size of pool. Great location next to Starbucks and several restaurants, Walmart was right down the street. Would highly recommend. It is clearly well managed.

I won't bore anyone with my sob story, I'll just state my experience. Now, I wasn't expecting anything glamous, just comfortable while I conduct what I came to Ottawa to do. There's barley anything to eat there besides minor snack's, luckily it's located right by a culver's and a Thornton gas station. My mobile key stopped working, luckily I asked for physical key's otherwise I would of been locked out. Now when the mobile key stopped working, I was given extra key's and told the system is down and it was disabled. So even if I wanted to use it, this feature was never reactivated for me during my stay. Now when I went to visit family, I came back to the hotel and all of my keys "were not working" at midnight... I had to seek out hotel staff and tell him none of my keys worked, he didn't question it, just checked and gave me a single key. So now I'm constantly worried of being locked out during my stay.... The pool is only 3-4ft, almost less than half a full pool, however the hot tub was nice. Weight room was small, had free weights, treadmill, and exercise ball's. There is also a laundry room and some breakfast from 6am to 9/10am depending on the day. I kept having to ask to have garbage taken out, barley and housekeeping outside of anything requested. I stayed out here a week and as the the week went on, the service got worse and worse. I came in happy and left terrible and ready to leave after that awful experience. Lastly, if you're thinking of staying here, 2 maybe 3 day's max would work, but anything longer I can't honestly recommend this to strangers or my peers, I'll use a competitor in the area next time with similar or better service. Hopefully your experience is...

The suite was actually very nice, 2 TV's, hide-a-bed in the couch, mini fridge, microwave, and premium channels with the cable/satellite service, the in ground pool looked like it might need a good cleaning but the hot tub and fitness room looked decent.

The biggest issue was the service at the front counter. We accidentally slept a bit longer than we wanted to, but in our defense, it was the Saturday night into Sunday in which the clocks were moved forward an hour due to daylight savings time. They called the room at 11:30 am, which to us still felt like 10:30 am, and tried to just walk in the room minutes later even though I did have the "Do Not Disturb" card in the card slot in the door for the key. They came back two other times even though we mentioned we will be done and out momentarily and that we would bring the key cards to the front counter when we leave. They said that the cleaning staff wants to leave for the day so we had to leave now. When my significant other went to the front counter to return the key cards, she was perturbed a little due to the constant interruptions, she placed the key cards on the counter and said "we're checking out". She walked towards the side entrance and heard one of the employees blatantly say "What a b*h".

The facility itself is gorgeous and has good amenities but the staff itself, when it comes to their own convenience, has shown that they are not very understanding, cooperative, or professional.

I would suggest you try one of the other hotels right off of the expressway...

I have traveled and stayed in hotels for close to 30 years with my job. On Fathers Day we were meeting some people in Ottawa, when I called down to the front desk to get an extended check out time, I was told they had no availability to accommodate me. When I asked Arrate Haws to explain she was very short with me and when I asked again she was down right rude. Now, I hadn’t complained about the accommodations even after we found ants and bugs in our suite. I didn’t complain about the terribly kept parking lot which was full of garbage and debris. When I went to get my final receipt at check out she could’ve cared less about my happiness with my stay. I am in the customer satisfaction business and frankly if I treated my customer Era like I was treated I would be out of business. In my opinion I will never stay here again in fact we will return to The Holiday Inn Express next door. I called them just to satisfy my curiosity as to how they would’ve handled my situation and was told there would’ve been no problem accommodating me. Believe me for the outrageous cost of the room I would suggest staying at the Holiday Inn Express. Arrate Haws should be cleaning rooms or maybe the parking lot instead of being in a front line position. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and have never been treated like this... I will be following up this review with contacting Marriott corporate office. Which I told her I would do and she turned even...
