Shakers Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Ottawa

It pains me to think of not giving 5 stars but today honestly didn’t deserve even one star. My wife and I have been frequenting this place since we first started dating. Today I ordered a very specific beer and what I was served couldn’t have been more opposite. I thought no big deal I’ll just let our server know whats up and he’ll get me the correct one. Boy was I wrong. I explained to him my wife and I both tasted the beer and it definitely wasn’t a New England style IPA. The color alone was enough for any novice to see it was a dark, most likely a stout. But no, he snapped back at me saying he is in charge of all the beers and he knows that what he served me is in fact what it was supposed to be. I was so blindsided. I wasn’t looking for an argument. Just wanted a tasty citrus IPA. You get better service at the DMV than I received today. So after that he disappeared and never came back to take our food order so after we finished our one drink we flagged one of the girls down to close out and get food elsewhere. If we see that “beer genius” that is in charge of all the beers when we walk in next, we will walk back out to avoid that behavior. Where to start, first off the bartender, acted like she was busy when we asked her some questions. This was our first time being there, and there were maybe 10 people, us included. Husband ordered a Stella, and I ordered a Bacardi and coke. She got my husband's drink first, it came in a regular glass it had no foam from the beer, and it had mybe 2 bubbles ( it's not because it wasn't in the right glass) Then we watched her take my glass and use it to get the ice (yes I know the ice, was for my drink), but you never do that. What if the glass breaks in the ice. Then she makes my drink, brings it to me, and it looks like tea. What I got was a watered-down FLAT (no carbonation at all) Bacardi and Coke. I said something to my husband, thinking that it came from a 2 liter and it had gone flat he said, "No, I'm pretty sure I watched her use the bar gun and she put a lot of Bacardi in it, that's why it has that color". I don't know why it had the color and look of tea, but it sure didn't taste like I had a Bacardi coke. It tasted like I had a warm flat water and coke with ice, could barely taste any alcohol. Yes, I know we could of said something, but we also didn't think it would have mattered if we had. How it's one of the top 10 bars to go in Ottawa, we'll never know. Let me just start with this. In my 35 years on this planet this is the first restaurant I have ever had a meal at where there “basket” meals do not come with fries and or chips! Secondly, this place is suppose to be known for there wings, now mind you, I ordered boneless because I’m basic like that. I can honestly say that these “ wings” make Casey’s generals stores popcorn chicken look big. And at the low low price of $7 for 6 of them! Oh I almost forgot the two little sticks of celery. So if you are the owner/manager of this joint I would strongly advise that you make it very clear in your menus that unlike every other bar and grille in the area, your basket meals do not in fact come with fries and or chips. Also let’s not forget the size of said wings. Please either find a different vendor for your boneless wings or please amend your menu to state that you serve boneless popcorn chicken. In conclusion, if you do choose to dine in at shakers lounge I would advise to steer clear of there boneless wing baskets!
