We chose this Quality Inn due to its proximity to Starved Rock State Park. We had to cancel another vacation, so we used hotel points to visit Illinois for 2 nights. Gary greeted us upon our arrival. The lobby was clean and well maintained. We were checked in quickly and given our room key. We were disappointed to learn that there was no elevator, but I missed that when I researched the hotel. The hotel was very quiet. The room was super clean, well stocked with amenities and adequate for our needs. The flatscreen TV was easy to operate and didn't require a technical wizard for instructions; good sound and picture quality. We did not use the WIFI. The shower was hot with adequate water pressure and the bed was very comfortable. No problems with either the AC or the heat. I reiterate that this hotel property was very clean and super quiet! It was a short drive to all three local state parks. A good breakfast variety; pretty much what I expected. Eggs could have used a bit more TLC; too dry one day & too wet next day. There was other food to choose from. The OJ was fresh; the coffee was hot. We recommend a local sports bar (Shakers) for a quick bite. Great value; great food. The owners worked the desk during the day and were super nice people. Parking lot is well lit, no safety concerns. Despite no elevator, we would definitely...
Read moreBeing I have worked at Choice hotels in the past I knew what to expect and what not to . The staff is friendly, rarely have I seen a housekeeper to get fresh towels each day . The older gentleman didn't speak English so that was frustrating. Next day I requested housekeeping come to empty the garbage cans and get fresh towels . Was good except I didn't get a complete set . I know, a full towel , foot towel, hand towel , and wash cloth is a full set . So asked the younger gentleman the next day for a complete set of towels . Maybe I'm being to picky ? Maybe it's because I didn't pay full price as I used my discount ? Either way every guest should be treated the same . No laundry detergent or fabric softer to even buy . The front desk said people bring there own . The yogurt was a few days expired and requested fresh yogurt . With, that's not an answer to give a guest . Overall, it's a nice place to stay and great location . The guest experience is lacking a little to say the least . A little attention to details this would be a great place . All...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I booked 2 rooms there, #106 and #129. This is a family owned and not corporate owned which makes a huge difference in your stay. The owners seemed very friendly however I agree with a lot of the reviews that were left. There is an odd scent in the rooms. In #106 there were no standard, soap, shower or conditioner bottles, only lotion but was in #129. In #129 our air conditioning wasn't working. It kept making a ticking noise so we just left the fan on. I wanted to inform management but the other reviews on here intimidated me because there were other issues similar that didn't get resolved. One more thing, when I booked this hotel it said there was a pool for this location. When we got there no pool, I thought maybe I looked at the wrong hotel. I get to my room to double check on my phone and a pic of the pool was online. I took a screen shot of it too In case I'm told otherwise again. Anyhow, this hotel is decent for $100. But there are other options out there with a pool and...
