I will start by saying I do my best to not write negative reviews, but for health and safety reasons I feel the need to share my experience. My partner and I booked a room at Float through Airbnb for a single night before Coachella. The check in process was exhaustive and confusing, they require you to fill out an online registration form and upload a selfie holding your license before checking in, which was unsettling. Our flight got in much earlier than the check in time, but getting someone on the phone was pretty much impossible. We arrived a few hours early to a dimly lit and dingy “reception” office, and asked to leave our luggage until our room was ready. The receptionist was kind enough, but didn’t seem too interested in going above and beyond for anything. When we finally got into our room, we were immediately hit with a strong smell of mold. The room was dusty, the floors unclean, the bed and pillows covered in stains, and the bathroom was absolutely abhorrent. Old and outdated tile tub with very visible mold in between the cracks. The white adhesive grip material on the floor of the shower was brown. The toilet was dirty, the sink faucet was caked with mineral buildup and the water coming out of it smelled horrible. After spending about 30 minutes contemplating our stay, the final factor for us was seeing a large dead bug in the corner near our suitcases. We promptly left the room and made last minute accommodations elsewhere, and when the original receptionist saw us drag our full suitcases out of the room we just checked into, she simply turned and walked away. I find it unlikely that the room was even set foot in by staff before it was assigned to another guest. The instructions for checking out said to text a phone number letting them know we were checking out, which I did shortly after leaving. The next day I received a call from a different receptionist who seemed to have no idea that we ever left, apologized for the confusion, and told me to have a nice day. At no point did anyone ask us about our stay or why we left. To make a very long story short, stay as far away from Float “hotel” as you...
Read moreUpon arriving to this hotel my girlfriend and I didn't know what to expect since it was a last minute booking. We arrived to the hotel and was greeted by Michelle who is one of their newer employees. She was very helpful and showed us a couple rooms. We later decided to book with her but she was out of the office by the time my girlfriend and I made our decision. That's when we unfortunately had the displeasure of dealing with the most rude and condescending reservations agent named Adam Ramirez who posed as the owner (Tayfun King) once we asked for his name. Now, FORTUNATELY while arguing with Adam on speaker phone, the real owner named Tayfun King overheard the frustration and the inappropriate remarks that Adam was saying. We grew very confused and irate as to why we were being treated so horribly because of the simple fact that my girlfriend and I were having a hard time with all the door codes. Tayfun stepped in and announced that he in fact is the real owner and spoke to Adam to let him know that his behavior was unacceptable. It is clear that after reading multiple reviews on different sites that this is a common practice that Adam uses. He is purposely rude to guests and says his name is Tayfun King. The reason I gave this hotel 5 stars is because of how Tayfun rectified the situation and made our stay better than we could've imagined after enduring such verbal abuse from Adam. Tayfun was a breathe of fresh air. He's an owner that actually cares about the guests. From my understanding, the hotel is going through a change of ownership which will affect the hotel in a positive way. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. What you have here at this hotel is a clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay and with an owner who cares. I would definitely...
